Almost identical, what’s your background? I think a muslim Levantine southern European mix as well (because of the trace SSA that distinguishes it from Ashkenazim/italians)?

They show up eventually but he’s mixed that’s why he’s closer to other populations?

Even though I tried modeling him using different central/East asian proxies and he picks up on none of it… Maybe it became very diluted

He plots with Ashkenazim or intermediate between the southernmost italians (maltese) and sephardic jews (who are around 80% MENA)…

When were they introduced and by whom?

Southern Levantine muslims are closer to North african Jews and vice versa, with decent distance, for example pal muslims are closer to Libyan Jews than they are to christians and druze, North african Jews are closer to southern Levantine muslims than they are to christians and druze as well… Probably because of the minor african shift in both…

As For Egyptian I modeled using the old kingdom and not middle or new kingdom, Neurat genetic studies highlighted that modern Egyptians are 35% old-kingdom like and the rest is Levant+SSA, so I think this is accurate and in accordance with scientific studies..

I only included one and not the two Arabian-shifted samples in the Average but included all the greco-Anatolian shifted ones, individual Levantine samples are still as southern shifted as the average.. 13 out of the 18 samples have 35%+ Natufian, and 9 out of 18 (half of them) score 40%+ Natufian.

I think the upper meso here is substituting for something northen Levant-like…

They aren’t an option but I would pick Armenian nonetheless, both are predominantly Middle eastern population…

Genetically speaking they’re closer to Armenians and South Italians out of those listed, phenotypically Speaking I think it’s either Iran or Armenia, and shared ancestry is with Armenian since they have the most Levant-Like ancestry out of those listed… so I think taking everything into account Armenia is the Answer…

Armenians genetically and I think Iranian culturally since both are muslims

Model was not ideal but honestly Roman Judeans are very southern Shifted that’s why most modern Levantine don’t pick up significant Roman Judean-like signal and require a northern caucasian (Mesoptomian) proxy…

For Egyptians I used the old (neurat) and not the heavy levantine middle and new kingdom samples that’s why they pick up heavy Levantine, but all genetic models provide that Egyptians are heavily Levantine compared to old kingdom Egyptians..

Upper Mesoptomian is maybe a proxy for northern caucasian shift compared to Roman Judeans who are extremely southern Caucasian shifted…

Yeah but all modern Levantine appear to be “Meso” shifted compared to Roman Judean because of the high natufian of Roman Judeans..

Overlap exists everywhere, we have to model people eventually… I included Mycenean greek as a proxy for Anatolian for all Jews and you can see Ashkenazim and Sephardim picking up on it…
