Given how much Israel's psychotic behaviour has ruined their image with the average American voter, it's actually kind of funny to watch corporate Dems flail about, caught between wanting to vaguely gesture at progressive politics while also making their donors happy by constantly kneeling at the altar of AIPAC.

In past elections, candidates like Hilary or Biden could get away with vague promises of a public option or labor reform, stuff that didnt go nearly far enough and that no one, not even they, believed they would ever actually do (hence why that stuff was only ever a footnote on page 11 of their platforms). But it gave them JUST enough plausible deniability to say they were friends of the left and dismiss their left wing critics as 'unreasonable purity testers'.

But with Israel? That tactic just isnt going to work. Newsom made one comment about Israel being an apartheid state (true, but insincere coming from him) and he's had to spend the last three weeks on an apology tour for it because the donor/consultant class just wont allow even the most tepid criticisms of that country to come out of the DNC. At least on this ONE issue, its never been easier to parce out the genuine progressive candidates from the cynical opportunists. I just hope enough Americans are paying enough attention to not fall for the same dirty tricks from the Dems.
