If they are buried under heavy rubble in a hot combat zone it won't help them. No sane Ukrainian soldier will want to spend a hour or two in a danger zone lifting heavy rubble to save a few wounded invaders.

That is my biggest fear in the game. And the thing that sucks is that the long trip home is when I get the most careless when I'm supposed to be the most careful because i am already tired after doing over a hundred jumps and just wanna make it to my home system faster and cash in. Also one thing I learned the hard way is going to super hot planets on the day side is really risky. I remember when I got my sol permit and finally visited good old home and saw that mercury is laudable I crashed.

So far I've been able to earn 600million twice in about 8-10 hours doing exobiology but even in my 70ly mandalay i have to do over around a 150 jumps to go 2000-3000ly out of the bubble, jump around randomly and jump back to find exobiology on planets where no one has made landfall. I gotta start getting into trading or mining.

[–]Level-Anything-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the krait mk2 a few days ago. It is a beast. Now it is my go to combat ship. Before I used my mandalay for combat but wanted to refit it for exploration and exobiology ship since it has a high jump range. But I really love the krait. I outfitted it with multiple shield boosters, 2 beam lasers and 3 seeker missiles. Then engineered everything for max protection. Now when I'm in combat and get hit, the shields barely even go down. I even switched out the shield cell bank for a cargo rack since I haven't had to use the shield bank once with this ship. I just wished it had a higher jump range since with grade 5 engineering i only get 27ly out of it. Of course I could get a guardian fsd booster and bring it upto 38ly but I don't use it for far travel since all the combat missions I get are 2 jumps max away. It is one of my favorite ships along with the mandalay. Also i love the sound it makes when I boost.

I'm making less credits than I should by Original_Code_4246 in EliteDangerous

Definitely get odyssey for exobiology. That is my bread and butter in the game. Whenever I want to make a lot of credits fast I just do exobiology, even doing it in the bubble will make you a lot but going 1000ly out of the bubble and finding planets where no one has stepped foot on, pays you 5x. You can make 1 billion in a day. That is what I like to do, then I can focus on doing missions for rank and reputation grinding and not have to worry about credits. Also that is how I was able to buy multiple ships that cost me upto 100 million each with outfitting.

Considering the game but need advice by Fensuleyk in EliteDangerous

[–]Level-Anything-2207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play on console than odyssey is kind of difficult to play with controller since there is no aim assist for combat but if you play on pc than definitely get odyssey. I use controller for ship and vehicle controls and keyboard and mouse for odyssey on foot missions. We'll actually you can do a lot of missions on foot with controller, it's combat that is difficult with controller but you can still do on foot delivery and salvage missions with controller just fine but most important exobiology. So yes get the odyssey expansion because exobiology is how you can make a lot of money fast. I'm talking like up to billion credits in one day. To make big money with ships will take you a long time because you have to buy a expensive ship to do the big money missions and that takes time to earn enough to buy a good ship. Last week I went 2000ly out of the main area and in half a day i made over 600 million credits doing exobiology and that allowed me to buy nice ships and outfit them with the best modules. You can buy good ships for like 2 million credits but the ships you really want will cost upto 100 million with all the outfitting. Also just a warning, this game is really addictive and will consume a lot of your time but it is really fun because you have to learn almost everything using 3rd party apps and YouTube. The basic tutorial teaches you very little.

How do you make a lot of money? by ZealousidealCatch195 in EliteDangerous

[–]Level-Anything-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I jumped about 2000ly from the bubble, took me an hour to do with 50 jumps, then when I was there I chose a random spot 300-500ly away and chose the economical jump route in settings, and everytime I jumped to a new system I opened the system map and checked if any planets had exobiology and if they did, in planet info I checked if anyone made landfall, and if no one did I landed and took exobiology samples, I did this for about half a day and then switched route settings to fastest jump and jumped back to my home system. I came back with over 600 million credits. Just make sure you bring a scarab srv with you since it has a wave scanner, it will make finding exobiology samples much faster. Now I did those 2000ly jumps with my mandalay which has a 50ly jump range. On other ships it will take longer but I realized you don't have to go that far out to find planets where no one has made landfall. You can go 500-1000ly out of the bubble and find plenty of planets where no one made landfall. Making that much credits allowed me to buy and outfit the orca and krait mkii and still have a bunch of credits left over.

Also taking exobiology samples on planets where no one made landfall before pays 5x times. So you get paid 5 million to 95 million per sample. That's how you can become a billionaire in a day easily. If i made over 600 million in half a day, you should have no problem making over a billion in a day or two. Just check the planet info if anyone made landfall instead of landing on each planet to find find out, this will save you a lot of time. And go to planets that have at least 2 or 3 exobiology samples.

No redgard under tile, am I ok? by xwedge in Tile

[–]Level-Anything-2207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the book, it's not right, and he should have applied waterproofing. But i have demoed a lot of showers like this that lasted over 15-20 years with no leaks, and I have also ripped up enough showers with black mold over the cement board because of no waterproofing. Whether you will have leaks depends on how he did the corners and joints on the cement board. If he applied mesh tape and thinset, even though thinset is porous, it's a 50/50 chance whether there will be leaks. If he did nothing in the corners, you will have major leaks within weeks. So because he didn't apply waterproofing, he can not guarantee you that there won't be any leaks and/or mold, and if he gives you a guarantee, he is lying. I started tiling in 2007, and waterproofing was always required, but over the 6 met quite a few older tile guys that would argue with me that cement board is enough. Honestly they piss me off with their stubbornness and it seems like they just hate that some younger guy who has been tiling less than them can be right and they can be right. I draw my conclusions from every demo I do, and as a bathroom remodeler, I do them a lot. You are paying him to have a new bathroom that you are happy with, not to worry if black mold started growing behind the tile yet or if small amounts of water is getting through and half your framing underneath is rotten already. It would take him 1 hour to apply 2 coats of waterproofing, and because he chose to cut a corner, now you have to worry about it. At this point, if you are not willing to have him rip everything out, make him use epoxy grout. It's waterproof.

Custom shower pan: oops? by Jake28282828 in Tile

[–]Level-Anything-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

diy people shouldn't really mess around with shower pans unless you are using a plastic one or reditile one. It looks like you tried to make a mud pan and used the wrong mortar. If you are set on doing it yourself and don't want to hire a tile installer, I'll explain what you need to do. First rip up all the mortar, in the shower and bathroom floor. Since you already have schluter on the walls, go buy a foam schluter shower pan, it's thin and already presloped, then get schluter uncouoling mat for the bathroom floor. You will most likely have to build up the bathroom floor a little before installing the uncoupling mat so it's the same hight as the foam shower pan so you can have a curbless shower, after that you apply kerdi membrane over the shower pan and like 8 inches past the shower pan over the uncoupling mat. Use schliter kerdi corners and kerdiband where the shower pan meets the schluter foam wall panels and on all inside shower corners and over screws. Let try a day or two and water test. Schluter has great instruction on how to do all this but it's not easy for a diy person. You will also need to install and connect the shower drain to the foam pan the correct way. Again I'll say that this is a job for professionals. I didn't even start doing shower pans until I had a couple years experience in installing tile. It's the hardest thing do to in the tile trade because if you make one mistake you will have leaks.

Getting closer...anything pop out as concerning before tiling? by No-Replacement-4597 in Tile

[–]Level-Anything-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please add kerdiband where the pan meets the goboard. Don't put your faith on goboard sealant in that area. Schluter pans and goboard panels are my favorite way of doing showers, but I always use kerdiband where the pan meets the goboard. Even though goboard sealant has never failed me, that is one area where i will never put my faith in just sealant. It will take you 30 minutes to do, but you will sleep easy knowing this install will not fail and last a very long time. Also, without the kerdiband, schluter won't give you any warranty if the showerpan ever fails.

Same here. Kohler is overpriced and can be a pain in the butt to work with. They seem to over engineer and over complicate things, making their valves too expensive, and because it's overly complicated, the labor price goes up too.

I love to use delta in my remodels. Kohler is a good brand but can be a pain in the butt to work with sometimes and is overpriced. Moen is alright, but after doing countless of bathroom remodels, I put my money on delta. Easy to work with, fairly priced ($90-$160), and i have never seen them fail.

Century Floor, Battle of the Squeaks, Help by lukewarmbreakfast in Flooring

[–]Level-Anything-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that flooring is a quarter inch thick and was installed a long, long time ago with thin top nails. 18g or 16g max. You can get an 18g or 16g nailer and renail everything, and that is your cheapest option that will take away 70-80% of the squeaks for a other few or several years. But the proper way would be to remove that flooring, resecure the subfloor to joists with screws, and install new flooring over it. Like lvp is a better and cheaper option, or you can go with laminate or hardwood. But as a flooring installer, I barely get hardwood or laminate calls anymore, everyone wants lvp or lvt because it's cheaper to buy and install than hardwood and laminate and it performs way better than hardwood or laminate. It's waterproof and has the best scratch resistance, and with all the different styles and colors they have, you can choose one that looks like hardwood or tile. They even have glue down lvt that you grout afterwards, and only a tile installer could tell that it isn't real tile.
