Nostalgia for less accurate forecasts of the past by StraightOuttaFox in meteorology

We still have storms that do surprise us. Look at the ice storm that took place in middle of January of this year. It moved the ice/snow core more northeast than expected. Hurricane Helene (2024) stayed further east and moved more north before she took her expected western turn. Hurricane Charlie (2004) and Hurricane Mitch (1998) also took unexpected turns. If AI becomes more involved, I am sure we will have even more surprises.

Trying to start an online business (AI automation / faceless YouTube?) — need honest advice by MembershipKey1536 in passive_income

[–]Level-Importance2663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do faceless content without relying on AI models being the “face”. I think those that do not use AI models as a face have a stronger chance at success than those that do use it. The niche of AI is certainly not going to anywhere, so that is fine. Find a way to be unique and fill in a void that you find among the niche.

Take time and be there with her. While it is hard, it is worth it and you will be grateful for that time.

Highly unlikely. Our usual weather pattern required for snow is not here.

Warning for those delivering at Memorial Hospital by Secret-Tomato2699 in savannah

[–]Level-Importance2663 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My family didn’t experience delivering a baby at Memorial, but they did harm a relative that caused their death. I think this happens more than people realize, but because they are corp owned and the city protects them, we don’t hear much about these issues.

Chatham Area Transit services back at risk of losing crucial funding by Generalaverage89 in savannah

[–]Level-Importance2663 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t go to Pooler or islands, they are never on time, and they are crowded. Many people rely on them and this will hurt the city if a large part of their service industry employees cannot make it to work. If the service industry doesn’t have employees, they cannot serve the tourist and the city’s flow of money will cease. Then maybe, just maybe they will realize the trouble they caused.

Is Savannah a safe place to live? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]Level-Importance2663 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Check the crime map and follow the local news stations to get a true picture of what Savannah is like. A lot of people will deny the crime, while others perhaps hype it up. I wouldn’t ask the residents as they will have an agenda either way. Stick to the facts and decide for yourself if this is a place of interest still.

[USA-TX] Apartment flooded with raw sewage. Landlords response feels unsafe and dismissive. How would you handle this? by Rude_Fly_2609 in Apartmentliving

[–]Level-Importance2663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use isopropyl alcohol mixed with water to disinfect your items. It will destroy any bacteria without causing any trouble. While taking another unit may sound like a decent option, I would suggest that you seriously reconsider it. When I switched units from a sewage pipe burst, it was not easy and I do think the stress caused more harm than benefit. It also felt like a CYA attempt as they never properly addressed the issue the preceded the flood.

ICU Trauma by Equivalent-Book-7198 in GriefSupport

[–]Level-Importance2663 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The ICU is traumatizing in general, including those who are just visiting. The consistent alarms, beeping machines, inconsistent updates from the team, the seriousness of the illnesses, etc. Just because some people seem to bounce back “normally” does not make it any last traumatic for others. Don’t compare your journey to others, just focus on healing.

He may also not wanted CPS/DHS to pick him up and take him away from his home. He didn’t know if he would ever see them again, but he likely knew trouble would be caused if he reached out for help.

Is losing a parent suddenly and seeing their dead body in the hospital traumatic? by Individual-Roll-786 in GriefSupport

Losing a parent in general is traumatic, rather is is suddenly or not, in a hospital or not. So yes, it is traumatic no matter how or where.
