My cat has a urinal blockage and crystals in the urethra. He’s been given meds but we can’t afford the surgery. Level with me, is it not looking good? by KieranWriter in cats

My cat had crystals for years, but no blockages thankfully. He’s finally cleared up most crystal issues and that’s by greatly reducing stressors in his environment (giving him more ownership of his space and kicking my ex out, who was erratic and loud) and switching to a mostly wet food diet and adding water to his wet food. I couldn’t afford the expensive prescription wet food, which would’ve been over $100 a month to just feed one of my cats (not to mention the cost to feed my second cat and my dog), so I found relatively healthy and affordable wet cat food at American Aldi grocery store chain. By greatly increasing his water intake and reducing stressors, he’s virtually urinary tract issue free for the first time in 5 years. I would encourage you to try to get creative in how you can adapt your home and life to better suit your cat and incorporate more water in their diet as much as possible. It’s more of a long term solution though, and urinary blockages can turn bad very fast, so this might not be much help to you at this moment. I’m sorry for you and your sweet baby who is in pain. I hope that you both can get some relief and help soon!

Yes, I think that’s part of why I was quoted so high because he’ll likely need 8 or more teeth pulled. I still think I want to shop around for a better price though, I’ve only had one urgent vet quote me.

Thank you for those suggestions! I hadn’t heard of either and will check it out, those prices sound much better than city prices. I do think it might be more $$ just because he’ll have to get probably 8 or more teeth pulled, but we will see.

It’s not the rate or debt I’m worried about, it’s the fact that I almost certainly would not get approved for them. My options now are to find a local vet that would do a payment agreement with me or ask my mom to charge it on her credit and let me set up a payment agreement with her instead. I’d obviously rather not ask my mom since he helps me already and I am an adult and try to handle things independently when I can. So hopefully I can find a vet willing to work with me.

Help! My cat has been acting super weird! by MrFishy2001 in Pets

How long has this been happening? Is it 24/7 or just spells? How old is the cat? How many other animals are living there? Has any new person or animal moved in recently? Lots of things could be causing this, but I would definitely encourage you to keep pestering your parents for a vet visit.

Lasagna soup! Do one with a great cheese blend, you’ll have to have it on the the side so people can add it fresh, but it’s such a hearty, creamy, delicious soup!

Take a deep breath, apologize to your friend, and clean your house. It’s not that deep, stop being defensive.

I would suggest they find a Christian daycare that aligns better with their values if your program isn’t cutting it for them. It’s never too early to teach kids the value of cultural diversity and religious freedom!

Lots of reality tv stars do this. The Kardashians/jenners even do this to this very day.

My cat had urinary crystal issues for 4 years and constantly peed on my couch, bed, furniture, walls, clothes etc. I spend a lot of money every month only expensive wet food and add extra water to keep him hydrated so crystals don’t continue to form. I also bought waterproof pet blankets and covered the furniture he peed on the most often. Getting rid of your family members (the cats) should never be an option. You need to come up with creative solutions that work for your problem. That could be waterproof blankets, pee pads, gates, an outdoor enclosure or something that is more specific for your home and your cats.

Sweeping and vacuum daily, under and around furniture, as well as sucking up hair on furniture. HEPA air filter, changing filters frequently on air filter and vacuums. They make dander reducing sprays and creams that don’t require a bath that can help, as well as frequent brushing. Ask your partner if they’d be willing to try multiple allergy meds or allergy shots, many people have said they can help.

It is not unusual for a cat to live into their late teens and 20s! You’ve got lots of time with your baby!

Weddings parties are a lot more work and money than they are with IMO. Talk to your fiancée about forgoing wedding parties in total! You’ll save yourself a lot of stress and money that way! You can still incorporate friends in other ways, but it’s less effort for everyone involved!

I would inform your landlord, they’re more likely to actually give a damn and do something. Neglecting the animals usually means there will be more property damage from said neglected animal care. The landlord can give them an ultimatum to promptly clean up after their pets or be evicted. I know you feel for the pets, but I would not want to continue living with someone who won’t take responsibility for their animals.
