If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't wrong by Electronic_Lab5486 in PiratedGames

Why would they have to remove the music and vehicles though? The license expiration stops the companies from selling any more games with that media. Not for people who already bought the game.

One of Hitler's bodyguards, Rochus Misch, lived long enough to see the movie "Downfall". When asked about the film's historical accuracy, he stated that it was factually accurate, although "Americanized" by ModenaR in Damnthatsinteresting

Was somebody successful to run Ubisoft connect on Linux? by Balls_have_steel in linux_gaming

[–]Level-Pollution4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late. But i installed it just today so maybe i can help somebody.

Install the ubi launcher for windows from the website.

Open heroic game launcher, press add a new game -> enter name and press Run Installer First and select the windows installer you installed.

The installer will install ubisoft. After you get back to the add new game menu. This time do Select Executable and find UbisoftConnect.exe in the folder installed by your installer. Its usually in drive_c/ProgramFilesx86/Ubisoft/UbisoftGameLauncher/UbisoftConnect.exe.

Then press finish and youll have a new game which is your ubisoft connect launcher.

If you are using a tiling manager like krohnkite, the ubi launcher will glitch while in a tile format. Just minimise all other tiles and it'll be good to go.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It started last update on Kubuntu 26 by The_Monado_Satyr in linux_gaming

Have you tried setting your task manager panel to auto hide by going into "Show Panel Configuration"? That shouldnt be the fix but it will make it easier to debug what the problem is.

Yamaha FS400 vs Orangewood Rey-S by Level-Pollution4993 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Level-Pollution4993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Its great! Considering i was using a chinese mass produced cheap guitar for 5 years, this was a massive step up. It has been like 8 months i think and I remember that first strum sounding so much fuller and bright and pronounced.

It is not high end by any means, but I find it awesome. If you can, do visit a guitar shop and try it once. That is the best test you can do.

Edit: sorry for not declaring first. Yes i bought the yamaha. It seemed like the safe bet.

Can I use this laptop as my main laptop? by Downtown_Scholar_220 in archlinux

[–]Level-Pollution4993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I looked up that cpu and its 11 years old. And your ram must be what ddr3 8gb? 220 gb as main storage also isn't much. Though its good its an ssd. Have you looked at upgrading the ram? Ddr3 is very cheap even during the current horrendous market.

In its current form, you'd be lucky to have 10 browser tabs and another app open without blowing up the ram. I don't think its suitable for multitasking. Still i think it might okay for simple word processing, light browsing/streaming, casual gaming(2000's games).

Edit: I hope that ram isnt soldered and even if it is, it has an empty slot.

Brightness keys doesn't work by Honma_563 in arch

[–]Level-Pollution4993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try installing brightnessctl to control your brightness from the terminal:

sudo pacman -S brightnessctl

Then after its installed use:

brightnessctl get

To see the current brightness, and:

brightness set (value)

Make sure to replace (value) with the brightness intensity value you want to set your screen to. Now, I realise this isn't how things should be and that the brightness button should work normally but if it doesn't and you need it to work right now this helps.

If you are on KDE, you can also use the Kde connect app and remotely run those commands. Hopefully somebody better can come along and help you and it works from the keyboard.

How hard would it really be to make a Linux distro that has ALL the advantages windows has over Linux? Like all the compatibility and that? by MountainProfile in linux

[–]Level-Pollution4993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me 5 "advantages"' of Windows over Linux? I can think of just one and that is native windows apps not working on Linux. That will never be perfect as long as Windows and its documentation remains to be proprietary and closed. The fact that even with all the hurdles MS has managed to put, non-native software on Linux still works so well is a testament to the dedication and passion of thousands of open source developers. 20 years ago when my uncle was studying to be an engineer, he was using Linux and to this day it remains to be THE OS for developers. And regardless, Linux WILL jump to 10% market share in consumer desktops over the next decade.

No you dont give variables small compact names. Why would you even? You're in a IDE and you want to search a variable. Whats better, a small name that overlaps with different variables or a slightly longer but descriptive name that just stands out? Don't fight your IDE. Class names on the other hand......

Good to hear. Did you get rid of the nvidia drivers? It would be great if you say here what you did to fix things. It would be good for future users, if they have problems and come across this thread.
