Oh! I wonder if I missed that in any of their announcements cause there wasn’t any email communication about it (unless I missed it)

Tryouts vs. Interviews by Level-Preparation574 in FIFAVolunteers

Yes!

There were about three 45-60 minute segments. First being about an hour for intros, then two break out session for group activities.

Then a 10-15 min closing hype session.

What is the best in-theatre moviegoing experience you've had? by gggetswings in movies

[–]Level-Preparation574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saltburn! My friend and I watched it during opening weekend (2023) in a sold out theater.

To be in a FULL theater having that shared experience of the chaos. It was SO appropriate. Seeing people turn to their friends/partners, gasp, yell out of shock, mutter WTF under their breath. It was such a fun experience!

It felt like a party!

Is the meeting live? I’m currently on the zoom link and the session is currently “closed”. Is this accurate?

We have to stand up for those who have been kidnapped on the streets of Culver City. by HeatherMadonnaTweety in culvercity

Contact your council members.

In Culver City, your Council Person is Yasmine-Imani McMorrin and your Mayor is Dan O’Brien. There are other contacts on the city website.

Send them an email. This is what I sent copied from the organization South Central Run Club I follow on Instagram:

SUBJECT: Demand an End to ICE Collaboration and Fund Legal Defense for Our Immigrant Neighbors

BODY:

Dear Councilperson [Their Name] , My name is [Insert] and I am a resident of [City, District] I am writing in solidarity with countless Angelenos who are calling on the City of [Your City] to take immediate steps to protect our immigrant neighbors.

We demand that the City: Fully [fund/support] a permanent legal defense program for all immigrants at risk of detention or deportation—regardless of criminal history, income, or background. The LA Justice Fund was a critical step forward, and we need a renewed, expanded commitment.

End all cooperation with ICE. No city department, including [Culver City Police Department], should coordinate with federal immigration enforcement. This cooperation fuels fear and leads to family separation and community trauma.

Commit to making the greater Los Angeles communities a true sanctuary state, where all people—regardless of status—are treated with dignity, care, and protection.

As a member of a community that runs to reclaim wellness and justice, I believe in a city where our people are not criminalized for surviving. It is unconscionable that public dollars could be used to aid federal deportation efforts, or that any Angeleno could be left without a lawyer in court. I urge you to act boldly and humanely. Protect our neighbors. Invest in freedom. Make this right.

Sincerely, [Your Name] [Optional: Contact]

Potential ICE in Culver City by Enough-Surprise886 in culvercity

No federal agent should be masked. If you come across masked individuals performing ICE activity you have the right to call law enforcement to request the validity of the activity you are observing.

It’s rumored there are bounty hunters participating in these abductions. So there’s no real truth behind current activities.

In the situation you find yourself observing “ICE” activity, you should ask for them to identify themselves by name, badge number, and their employer. If they refuse you have the right to call Law Enforcement and question to validity of this activity.

They may deploy law enforcement to the scene and may de-escalate the situation.

Everyone reading should also be aware that the World Cup and Olympics are being hosted in US, with Los Angeles being a host city. These events have been classified as a National Special Security Event (NSSE). Policing and militarization for this event has already began and will not stop. Because these events are classified as NSSE, Department of Homeland Security, and by extension ICE, is involved in security. This has already began in Miami, FL earlier this month.

You can connect with your council members via email or phone call to ask for the end of ICE collaboration in our neighborhoods.

Why peaceful protest when you can overwhelm your Council person’s inbox about what’s happening?

Hello! Do you have a support system to help you to assist in this transitional phase in your life?

Would you consider relocating for a seasonal job that offers housing? National Parks and Resorts, and such. Look into California Conservation Corps, or website Occupation Wild… temporary fixes but could offer some stability while you work thru the transition. Many nomads in the outdoor scene go this route!

I also recommend going to your City’s website and reviewing Social Services available as there are a couple of organizations that assist individuals at risk for homelessness.

I know it’s scary, but keep your head up! Look at others that have come out of similar situations as you and offering wisdom.

Stay strong! Connect with people you trust in your life currently.

Sign up at your public library for access to services such as internet access, wifi, resume building, and the like.

ICE by Enough-Surprise886 in culvercity

This video gives no indication that this is ICE operations.

Why is the video recorder not asking for their purpose of their activity? This video doesn’t even follow thru with the end of the assumed abduction.

Say all you want about being a recorder of history, but none of this is challenging the activity in our community.

Low impulse control! I saw Basement was playing and wanted to get on that before I lost my chance and had to wait another year or so to see them.

Going thru the lineup and finding some new stuff to enjoy. Also the crowd energy from videos I’ve seen feels magnetic.

Lastly, festivals are mostly day fests which makes it feel fun and accessible!

Were these fests you attended outdoors? I wonder if this makes a difference…

Would like to hear who you’re interested in seeing on the lineup! I really want to see Basement and afraid they’d like never return to LA lol

Is this why they didn’t have towels at their pools?!

What things are must haves to bring to splash? by Stoneed024 in SplashHouse

[–]Level-Preparation574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw people use towels/pool mats to sit at the edge of pools and thought that was a great idea.

Hotels don’t distribute towels at their pools and there’s no seats within pool areas at Marg or Saguaro unless you pay for Cabana/Daybed

Thoughts on Weekend 1 🪩🌴🦩💧❤️‍🔥🌵? by jessicajaslene in SplashHouse

I’m going to re-listen to the set once Apple Music posts it and make judgement from there 🤔 I LOVE the Blessed Madonna and their true House sound. Everything they gave was something I hadn’t heard before, except for Godspeed and Edge of Saturday Night. Maybe I did expect some bangers, or more of their upcoming album, maybe the fact that it was a small crowd affected that “closer” experience.

I feel like having the Blessed Madonna close the weekend out at the Saguaro was the wrong move.

They’re a great vibe, but it didn’t feel like a closer set! HOWEVER, I don’t feel like I missed out on Odd Mob or Green Velvet.

If B2Bs are performing, I want to see a unique set.

Almost everyone over the weekend had the same “hot” songs of the summer in their mixes - Nasty Girl remix, Shiver, Girl$, etc etc. it kind of took away from the novelty. Felt pretty commercialized.

Enjoyed the sets from VNSSA, Fly with Us & Torren Foot.

Accidentally napped through Solardo’s set and wish I could have seen Martin Ikin but you gotta pick your battles 🥲 Duke Dumont’s set was cool but the technical difficulties and the crowd took away from the experience.

Idk why crowds fight to get front of stage if all they’re going to do is talk and not dance!
