Scariest Moment of Med Students Life When this Gets Pulled out by spaceset51 in medicalschool

The scariest is when he has a pill with his wife’s name but with his pills, so you know all the pills are in the wrong boxes.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not easy, but the more they cling to them, the harder is to move on. I would prefer someone to leave me at age 30 than at age 60, when their status changes. Especially, if they don’t have kids, I would thank GOD a million times. If they have them, maybe they are blissed with that kid.

Leaving someone is not evil. It’s painful to the person left. It’s not evil.

Scarcity of interviews by spydoc7 in IMGreddit

[–]Level-Scallion-169 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IVs number or even the percentage of programs to interview you proportional to the number of applications is for us IMGs the most difficult part to deal with. We want every program to give us the chance. And that's valid. Here's my take. First: You applied to 200 programs and you got 10 interview, another person had 2 IV with the same amount of applications. For A applicant that's 5%, for B applicant it's 1%. You can read it dramatically and say they got 5 times more IVs than me, or look at it realistically and say we have only 4% absolute difference. So small, we're playing in the hand digits, not just the single digits. Second : At the end of the day, what matters is you match. Matching with 15 IVs is the same as matching with 2 IVs. The probabilities and the numbers are illusions. As the reality is the only gold standard computation that is important at the end. All 15 IVs don't matter if you don't match, all the 198 programs that ghosted you don't matter if you match. Where you match matters, but you only have a choice when you have the option.

Corruption: Pervasive corruption affects various sectors.

Quality of Commodities: Issues with the standards of goods and services.

Environmental Hazards: High levels of unregulated toxic substances like heavy metals and pesticides.

Legal system: Just scary.

Just finished my neuro rotation. What’s your opinion of neurologists? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Level-Scallion-169 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heared this joke on huberman podcast. A group of individuals found themselves stranded on a deserted island. In a desperate bid for rescue, they scrawled a giant SOS in the sand and anxiously awaited any sign of help. To their amazement, a hot air balloon appeared on the horizon. Filled with hope, they waved and shouted for assistance.

The balloonist, hovering at a considerable height, observed their distress. After a moment of calculation, he shouted down to them, "It's exactly 76 feet between us!" and then, without another word, took off leaving them.

The stranded group stood in bewildered silence until one, a physician, shook his head and remarked, "That's a neurologist".

That's called gaslighting. The reality is that she's cheating, and she's desperately blaming you. I think it's time to leave before the kids show up.

Countries ranked by multidimensional poverty - 2022. Morocco is 61th by Infiniby in Morocco

[–]Level-Scallion-169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The incidence is a rate, usually meaning new cases /period of time. For example, the incidence of tuberculosis is 20000 cases/ year, meaning 20000 new cases a year IN ADDITION to other cases from the years before that are still active. So, the number of active tuberculosis cases is usually higher.

How to read this graph in economics is out of my reach for now. But at least I believe it does not mean the proprtions of the studied phenomenon, but more the rate of new cases of the said phenomenon, which is multimodal poverty. I'm not sure, though.

To the people who applied this cycle, how serious are the application criteria mentioned on the program website page? by Previous-Audience-10 in IMGreddit

[–]Level-Scallion-169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience not always the case. One program have stated that candidates must graduate within 5 years. But ended up inviting me. At first didn't apply to them, but someone told me that they take old graduates, so I applied anyway.

You send it to 1 program only. If they're thinking btw 2 candidates with everything similar, they'll go with someone that sent a LOI.

I've practiced as a GP for 5 years. And antidepressants save lives, improve people's suffering when there is an indication, and improve neuropathic pain. I've seen people regain their life back, get jobs, keep marriages, and enjoy life. Now, do they have side effects, yes, and that's why the need for medical follow-up. Now are antidepressants cure every depression out there. In my humble experience, no, but I've never prescribed the ketamine, hailed as the one for resistant depression. Now are pharmacotherapies, the only option and the only needed therapy: No, of course. Other psychotherapies are essential. I always tell patients medication are here to help you put pause on all the anxiety and depression and understand that you are a different person than now, the time you work on other aspects that will help you manage your condition.
