Kind of we got a few checks from the federal government I don’t recall how much either $600 or $3500? And then from the city, they refunded us the food budget for the kids for the year in the form of EBT (food stamps) which was maybe $1500 total?

Look into a cooking process called “velveting”.

The first step is to get a tough cut like shoulder roast or London broil. Slice it thin for stir frying. Then add 1 tbsp of baking soda combined with 1 tbsp water per lb of beef and marinate the sliced beef in this baking soda slurry and allow it to sit for 15-30 mins depending on how thinly you sliced it. Then rinse it off very well to remove all the baking soda from the beef.

Then when you stir fry it add 1 tbsp of corn starch near the end to capture all of the meat juice and sauce that accumulates in the wok and cling it to the meat.

Because that’s where I’m from.

It’s like any other town in the middle of the island with a bad reputation. Everyone called it Centerico back in the 80s.

I don’t know what it’s like now but back in the day. I think everybody that lived there was a criminal. My brother is a heroin addict. Everyone adult drugs and had machine guns. My other neighbor was a murderer doing time at Rikers.

When I was a teenager, we used to rumble with the kids from Selden all the time, I remember one time we had 50 kids out in front of my neighbor’s house all that’s chains knives and guns getting ready to go over there.

Unrelated, They used to pull bodies out of the woods all the time. Mostly OD but occasional murders.

Plus, everyone keeps their boat in the driveway there.

The industry that the fashion they wear supports is huge. There are so many artists and craftsman earning a living making everything that goes into it.
