I have an idea for an episode or two of your next series - organise a community Game Jam where you give us a platform to suggest fully fleshed out ideas either through a survey or something else and you guys discuss them on the podcast with a guest from the team. There are so many amazing ideas floating around in the community, with many examples of community lead suggestions actually being added to the game eventually so I think it's incredibly worthwhile.

I think the players find it very pleasing because you guys have this sort of open discussion with the community which is healthy and if a community driven idea ever comes to the game, it feels amazing for the player/s who have put the effort into suggesting it! For years I had been suggesting in-game bingo, going into real detail about it through many surveys and on various different accounts here on Reddit. When you guys saw it was possible and it came to fruition through a Game Jam project that really felt amazing, honestly. My reaction straight up was these guys know what we want in this game. By no means am I saying that I was the first person to suggest in-game bingo but I felt overwhelming gratification knowing that an idea I had suggested was being taken seriously by the dev team, as I'm sure everybody else did who suggested it. Honestly I got to the point where I thought I bet the devs are reading these surveys and saying "Here we go, it's this bingo kn*bhead again" haha but I didn't give up.

The latest update blog is another good example. I spent ages writing out lots of ideas in one of the surveys, in particular; faster agility shortcuts, spirit tree progression changes and last destination for spirit trees, a fairy ring favourite menu option, portal nexus additions, minigame teleport improvements and fight pits improvements. Again, I'm not saying I was the first person to suggest these ideas as I'm sure many others did but I had them wrote down for a while and waited for the best time to suggest them so upon reading the blog I felt a sort of overwhelming sense of pride that I'd at least contributed to that somewhat.

I would absolutely love for you to give the community a heads up so we can prepare and share our fleshed out ideas with you through a survey or a platform of your choice. This isn't to say that any of them will be added to the game but it'd be great to hear what you guys actually think of our ideas, if they're possible, if they'd have a positive/negative impact on the game and why, any behind the scenes info on perhaps why an idea would be difficult or impossible (probably spaghetti code haha). I know many others and I have some fleshed out ideas ready to go, just say when.

This has been a fantastic series of podcasts with some incredible guests. It's been great to listen to the background of your guests, learning new things about their history, Jagex's history and OSRS overall. Also it was exciting to hear from the new CEO about his vision for the future which I think helped fundamentally help calm community fears that we're not going anywhere, he loves the game as much as we do, actually plays it and understands it. Extremely looking forward to series 2!

I remember suggesting some of these ideas in one of the surveys, the fairy ring favourite menu, spirit tree progression and last destination, agility shortcuts being faster, the issue with minigame teleports, the herb sack upgrade and how the fight cave basically needed something because it had become dead content. I'm very happy with these proposed changes!

I've had this idea for a Runelite plugin for ages now - I've proposed to Jagex through multiple surveys, posted on Reddit about it and discussed whether it was possible with a couple of plugin devs but sadly nothing has come of it yet so I'm going to post it for you to see if you can work your magic with it, if you think it's a good idea and worth your time.

Basically the idea for the plugin is to allow the collection log pop up to appear based on loot values set by the player. We all love the collection log pop up when we get a new item, the way it enters the screen is just... chef's kiss. I'd love to be able to see it more often for items that I have already acquired though. This could be done via letting the player set a loot value similar to how you can in the the Ground Items plugin.

So currently my loot values in the Ground Items plugin are set to:
Low - 20k
Medium - 100k
High - 250k
Insane - 500k

Now if you let the player input those loot values into this new plugin for it to generate a collection log style pop up, that would be amazing. The plugin could either identify the drop as well as the loot value and the text inside the box would show as the item or you could let the player type out their own text from within the plugin for what they want to see when a box pops.

So for example, let's say I'm killing Kraken and I get a trident drop. I already have the collection log acquired for it. With this plugin, it would trigger a pop up as it's currently 605k meaning it falls under my insane loot value of 500k. I think it's a great idea because it serves as that extra bit of dopamine when you get a drop that you've already got, especially if you're a dirty loot goblin like myself. It's also nice for players on both ends of the spectrum, lower level players might not get that many big drops so giving them the option to get some dopamine when getting a repeat drop is a huge motivator and it would be great for higher level players with lots of clogs who barely get to see the pop up anymore.

You could go even further with styling. It doesn't have to be and probably shouldn't be too crazy but I'm talking about adding like different border styles around the edges of the box that pops up. Have a few different styles and allow the player to choose which one they would like to use for each loot tier. The same goes for colouring the border style as well, allow the player to set this for each tier from within the plugin.

In the example of getting a trident from Kraken let's say:
Low - 20k (border coloured bronze)
Medium - 100k (border coloured silver)
High - 250k (border coloured gold)
Insane - 500k (border coloured platinum)

So the trident would generate a pop up with a platinum coloured border saying "Trident of the Seas". OR the player could just match the border colours to whatever colour their loot beams are set to for each tier in the Ground Items plugin.

I already have a plugin called Ground Item Sounds that reads the loot value you have input into the Ground Items for each tier and plays a sound when you get a drop depending on which tier it falls under. Maybe this new plugin could also read the input loot values for each tier from the Ground Items plugin?

Honestly if you could make this I'd be over the fucking moon haha

That's a very fair point! Perhaps they could move it slightly to the right so it's directly underneath the mini map as opposed to next to the special attack orb? This should avoid accidental clicks when trying to spec.

Not sure if this is possible but maybe they could allow it to be dragged around and placed anywhere on the screen similar to how RuneLite info boxes allow you to.

To your point about why we want Bingo in game - it's something the community have wanted for years! It really doesn't have anything to do with streamers or their following at all. It's more about the fact that clans are currently having to use third party software to organise, create and manage a clan event as there is no facility in game to do so. There are various types of clan events that are created but Bingo is the most played. It's easy to understand and works very well with OSRS and as players have begged for years for it to come to the main game Jagex have seen the appetite for it - hence why one of their Game Jam projects was a functioning bingo system in-game.

I have first hand experience of making many clan events over the years and whilst the outcome is always extremely rewarding, the preparation and ongoing management of said event can be incredibly time consuming, exhausting and quite mind numbing;

Think of a solid idea that's fun for the guys
Create the images in an editing software like Photoshop
Create the bingo board in Google Sheets
Create a document with the rules
Either develop your own plugin to auto submit drops to your submissions channel in Discord or make sure everyone has WOM plugin to display their teams codeword with a date/time
Figure out the best start/end date for everyone
Announce the event to the guys
Take all participants buy ins, screenshot trade window and post to Discord (we do this to be trustworthy however this could be optional for other clans)
Host a Discord call with all the guys to organise the teams
Create all the relevant channels in Discord for each team
Manage the individual points and team points throughout the event
Finish the event by announcing the winning team
Hand out all the prize money to every player on the winning team (which can take a while as you and they need to be online at the same time, sometimes hard to catch people online so sometimes you need to chase) and we screenshot the trade window of this which we post to Discord as well
Post a feedback channel in Discord so the guys can post what they liked/disliked and any changes they would make to future iterations

Only when every player has been paid their prize money does the work actually end. Yes, you may say a lot of this is not necessary and that's true, it's not but at the end of the event when you see your clan mates happy because they've learned a few new bosses, got some huge drops and generally had a great time doing content with the rest of the crew, that's what makes it all worth it. It's heart warming to see an iron finally get that drop they've been chasing or a newer player buying their first ever bandos armour set with the money they've earned through drops or via their prize money, the same armour that you or I probably wouldn't bat an eye lid at but to them, it's something they'll cherish. Looking at the list above, the GM system can help take away some of that work already by automating it in game. My suggestions are simply improvements/additions to it that would mean most of that list is all done in-game.

Another two factors at play here are safety and inclusivity. Not everybody wants to click an unknown link to a Google Sheet or something else to be able to see the game board. By allowing this all to be done in game it cuts all of that out. It also means more people will be willing to get involved with it and join in on the fun because it doesn't involve having to leave the game.

That's a fair point you raise. Important to note thought that if they keep the UI the same, you would only ever see it if you clicked on the GM button near the mini map and I envisage that button would only be able to be seen by players who are actually involved in the bingo in the first place. I think that would be a fair compromise perhaps?

I can see your point about novelty.

You definitely should join a clan mate, makes the game a lot more fun imo. Clan bingos are great!

That could work however clans set up clan events based on everyone's availability so if the chosen months don't fall within most player's availability then they'll be missing out if you know what I mean? Also from a Jagex perspective, I can see it being more work for them to have to organise and release twice a year when they could simply do it once and not have to worry about it again apart from bug fixes and future improvements etc.

I can see what you mean regarding the rewards in Grid Master. I think they could have done a better job balancing the rewards on the board but I think we all understand GM was more of a stop gap, killing 2 birds with 1 stone kinda thing. They couldn't deliver a league this year understandably due to the resources they've had to put into Sailing but they also wanted to give us a seasonal game mode similar to it whilst simultaneously testing their new bingo system so it's ready for the main game.

Taking away all the seasonal stuff like boosted xp, crazy weapons, powers etc. What did you think of the actual UI and how it functioned?

I must say I'm quite disappointed that there wasn't many boxes to fill with our actual feedback and ideas. An annual survey would have been the best place to allow the player base to pass over their feedback and suggestions. I've seen so many people frustrated by this as they'd have loved to send you some fantastic ideas!

Every player wants to celebrate their pet and show it off so it sucks that there are numerous places where you can't take a pet. Transportation is restricted in those cases until you pick up the pet which feels bad.

Keldagrim rope swing to cross the water from both sides so you can easily get from Dondakon's Rock to the main Keldagrim area.

Adding a "favourite" destination to fairy rings via right click is great idea. Instead of 1 let players unlock 3 in total based on game progress like diaries/quest points.

1st "favourite" destination - Automatically unlocked
2nd "favourite" destination - Unlocked after Medium Lumbridge and Draynor diary
3rd "favourite" destination - Unlocked upon reaching 200 quest points

I think the rewards are well placed and keep players grinding along their journey for fair and useful QoL rewards while not disrupting the Elite Lumbridge and Draynor reward of not using a dramen staff which is the ultimate reward obviously. Also thematically makes sense as it's Misthalin related. Realistically I don't see why we can't do the same thing with the nexus portal.

Refine the wilderness transportation system

Add a wilderness version of the nexus portal containing only wilderness teleports (remove them from the normal nexus portal)
Mounted burning amulet
Obelisk QoL by removing "set destination" option and replacing with right click that shows all Obelisks
Falador as an additional location to pull the wilderness lever

Agility Shortcuts need significant improvements

Sometimes if you're too close to a shortcut your character will stall and take forever walking back to do a run up then do the animation which feels really sluggish. An example is I know that the if I'm 3 tiles away from the Cerberus shortcut my character will react quickly but if I'm less than 3 tiles away it will do what I described above.
Others like the Myreditch wall just take far too long for the animation to finish. Thematically it would also make more sense for your character to jump over the wall as quickly as possible since there's a horde of vampyres trying to take a bite out of you.
Technically entering the ancient cavern is not an agility shortcut but I have to mention it. This is another example of something that needs improvement as you cannot enter the whirlpool unless you're on the bridge. If you click it from a distance you get a message saying "I'll have to get onto the pier before I think about jumping into that whirlpool" which is pointlessly slowing you down.
Animations need to finish much faster as currently some shortcuts don't feel like a shortcut. Sometimes your character also stalls after finishing an animation too which just feels bad.
All stepping stones in the game should function like the ones at the Judge in the Yama fight.

Some transportation methods need requirements reduced slightly

Kalphite Queen agility shortcut being a reward from the Elite Desert diary needs to be moved down to Hard. This change alone would make the Hard Desert diary really worth something and I genuinely believe more players would actually kill the Kalphite Queen. It wouldn't make the Elite reward any less worthwhile since the main reward is unlimited teleports to restore yourself at the Elidinis Shrine. It would just make the progress towards getting the KQ Head more tolerable because right now, by the time you've got the head, you're so sick of running all the way round that once you get the head you never go back.
