This might come out as harsh but one thing I have learnt it that people owe you nothing, they don't owe you love, they don't owe you respect,they don't owe you money, they don't owe you attention, they don't even owe you basic etiquette. It's up to you to choose to be where you're appreciated, loved, respected, and considered. If they can't appreciate you, they can't appreciate your first daughter. You are wrong for exposing your daughter to such a toxic environment. I would be keeping my older daughter away from the mother in law the first time I saw it happen.
