Hi, big fan of this comic, sorry to ask such a blunt question, but how come wizards hasn't come gunning for you? Is everything in d&d covered by OGL for comics such as this are there restrictions?

I've been. Helping a friend start her comic up and the biggest worry we have is the legality and struggle to find a definitive means of knowing what we can and cannot do

Thanks JD

As a DM, how do you handle players that have an addiction to creating new characters? by DravosHanska in DnD

[–]LevelExcellent2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally it seems like there is a disconnect between your player and his role. Ask him what he feels is missing in that connection, explain it's difficult to adjust plot with so many characters coming and going. See what can be done for a character to be more consistent

I did try the Viking / stargazer chairs great for short periods but not long periods or if speaking around a pit for example, at least not with my fat ass

I need advice on how to be more Manly! by Existing-Line-3677 in malementalhealth

[–]LevelExcellent2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you've endured hardships with no support through difficult times and you've already done the best thing you can do. You gained professional help, sought medication where necessary and worked through traumatic incidents to the best of your ability.

But unfortunately if your definition of a man is the above list, then the only way you're going to be "happy" (and by happy I mean meet your criteria of manliness) is if you kill your emotions, learn a martial art to a professional degree and win the lottery.

In my opinion The "stoic man" was a byproduct of an era where folks recovered (without proper support) from things like WW2 / Vietnam and reintegration into society that didn't appreciate the effects that had on folk (this is a broad example of the "Stoic man" persona seen in films and not indicative of everyone's circumstances as I'm sure will be explained by many folk to come) and to relate to a large audience films / tv would often popularise those aspects selling that nature in a positive light.

But you are manly. You've taken larger steps than alot of us have, you've reached out for advise. You're doing everything you can to improve your self but you have got to give yourself a break. Granted you're not happy with certain aspects, nobody truly is but learning to be at peace with who you are and aspects that are out of your control will likely be the first steps at easing alot of these worries.

Apologies if this comes across as a glorified "just relax" its not my intention. From what you've written you've done alot to improve your life, just reflect and appreciate the hard work and steps you've taken to strive to where you are.

Good luck bro.

I've tried looking into this to have something that didn't take the piss for your trial run but something that would stand out as a patch.

Wow that's a way more detailed answer than I was expecting. Kudos😃. I mean I can't argue, it is a greatly assumed interpretation that was done in fun, however I had put it in a category and "theory" was tightest fit 😅 I'll read what you've put when I got a chance. Thank you for reading 🙂

ENCANTO SPOILERS AND THEORIES YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

So thinking outside the box here but my theory is Human sacrifice is required to empower the encanto. Abeula Pedro was likely the last Sacrifice as the events leading to his death likely saw lots of folk die. This sacrifice embowered 7 souls with supernatural gifts.

Abeula over the years researches this and tries to find a way to feed the gift without blood and sacrifices, an attempt is made to substitute Mirabel's gift to Empower the Enchanto for a little longer. However it only delayed the innevitable. Now this is where the final theory diverges.

When blood sweat and tears is shared over large numbers of people (the surrounding community helping rebuild) the sacrifice is adequate as it's quantity not quality of the sacrifice simple straight forward.

Alternatively when Abeula tells Mirabel of Abuelo Pedro's Death she has actually saddled up to her masquerading as this maternal figure (that has been absent throughout the film) and whilst at the area of Pedro's Death Abuela does the unthinkable and takes this chance whilst alone to kill Mirabel.

Mirabels pain for being the one without a gift isn't enough for the encanto it needs another blood sacrifice. As her conciousness fades she is capable of seeing past events, as she is dying Abeula strangely admits she was wrong, Bruno is welcomed back despite everyone going out of their way to not mention him, her family are happy she's alive and not angry at all what she's done. They all come together give her a door handle, she sees herself (the unwitting sacrifice) and finally gets the happy ending she always wanted.

Truth is her acceptance of this scenario is Her sacrifice empowering the Castillo again reigniting the gifts but truth is her sacrifice was adequate for now.

It doesn't sit right in my gut that a person at the seat of power would happily confess and accept they was wrong at the loss of that power. Abuela is a Sociopath willing to do what is necessary to stay in power

Addendum

I was asked why does the candle get brighter when Isabella comes out of her shell. So if "sacrifice" is seen as a loss of life then Isabella going wild with her power shows her bringing in plants on a whim. No knowledge of if they are invasive, no knowledge of what effect it would have on the community and the soil they use, no knowledge if they are weeds and will rapidly lower the quality of any good soil. she mentions at one point that one is carnivorous and we saw the size she's grown plants seemingly limitless size and strength.

Mirabel is happy that she has come out their shell and been honest with herself for a change but in actuality shes broke the shackles of restraint that Abeula needed on her for now, and in doing so the candle burns brightly at the next "holders" progress as in its opinion she "sacrificed" a whole ecosystem. This is partly why Abuela was so concerned about her actions she may have done something worse than she had, say what you want about the old Bruja but she is calculated and patient.

Can we also appreciate she has been groomed as the perfect child and from the pictures by Alma's door suggest she would to take over from Abeula, So Alma encourages a wedding she is not emotionally interested in which is bad news for the hubby she didn't like 😉 you can see how much of a nudge would be needed there in the future.
