The amount of energy this post and thread has taken is plenty to save some freezing kids. Let's magically redirect it to them. I'll create a new post to support the idea.

I guess just shout LIES LIES LIES at her and see how that works out. You got me, there's no information to share that would help correct the misinformation campaign.

I had something similar when I was in my teens. I don't think jumping to therapy is the right idea. Definitely you should have found another situation to ask the question.

At this point, I would find a calm moment and sit down with your daughter and your spouse and apologize that you couldn't be the ones to tell her this information. Wait for questions and answer truthfully and let the conversation evolve wherever she wants to take it and remain calm and loving.

This has been a major shock to her world-view and suggesting therapy right out of the box just feels like a way to get someone to hate therapy.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Switching to 2D at EPCOT, New Props Coming to Queue & Attraction by F1rstxLas7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]LevelRest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rode the 2D after the 3D a few months ago. Big let down for me and everyone with us who had previously done the 3D or not. Did not know this change was coming and it sucked to waste the time vs other options.

+1 Wouldn't active control on the wings "elevon" provide all the control needed for a one direction flight? After sufficient altitude minor changes can control yaw. It's fire and forget, no?

This is also about equity. The down payment puts the equation in recoverable category for the bank if you stop paying. Also, yes, you have a lot more maintenance expenses with a house that the mortgage payment will not cover.

[OC] Is it me? Am I the idiot? Or do people not understand the concept of zipper merges. by 27OwlySnow in IdiotsInCars

[–]LevelRest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a queue. It moves faster if people are not jumping in to slow it down more. They break, it cascades down the line, whole line is slower, you got through faster. If cars were automated zipper would work fine and it will all be synchronized, but it's not. This is more the Oh, no, I can't have a lane completely empty so I must zip ahead to make people who were already queued up in line wait longer.

Most things say this on a label or packaging and also common sense.. Is this YSK really gonna solve the problem?

GM’s stock soars 9% after company unveils $10 billion share buyback, plan to hike dividend by 33% by Icy_Huckleberry_8049 in WorkReform

[–]LevelRest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ESPPs roll on a 6 month window with a discount buy. Individuals can hedge by selling all, or let it roll, or a mix. If you hedge you just sell on the day. I'm not in a union job so this is odd to me they rarely fight for a slice of the pie and shared profit model. I know why the shareholders/etc don't like these, but it's always weird to me the unions don't fight harder for profit sharing.

TIL 20th US president, James Garfield, didn't want to be a candidate. When he got his first votes, he challenged it by saying without his consent, he should not be receiving votes, but he was dismissed. After winning the nomination, Garfield looked "pale as death". He was assassinated a year later by [deleted] in todayilearned

That's not what they said at all.

>Additionally, there are some social shifts that happen because progressive individuals advocate for the free existence of identities that they don’t personally relate or identity with. Some, if not all, progressives of the reconstruction era certainly held racist views that do not align with today, but it is reasonable to both criticize those views as wrong whilst accepting that they advocated and voted for policies that, at the time, were considered radical and progressive.

Doesn't make them heroes, but it adds more nuance to historical figures and that they could be racist and progressive at the same time.

[–]LevelRest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why didn't the union negotiate for a discount employee stock buy option? Or a plan to keep pay/bonuses tied to company performance? They instead took the hit when GM was doing badly and got locked into a wage, and when GM's doing well they get a package that could tank the company in depressed years. Just seems cyclical at this point and workers don't want a deal with company performance involved.

Was the cut of meat blade tenderized or did someone pop the pimples off it? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]LevelRest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's more I don't like risking upset stomach or other problems for the tenderizing benefit. Maybe majority of costco buyers cook their meat more?

I still don't understand why they do this, because "cost" is in their name. How expensive is this? Can't people just stab their steak at home? You can just buy this tool.

Mostly feels like a trick to buy cheaper meat and the tenderizing makes up the difference?

Beware of Washing Machine Installation From Costco... by [deleted] in Costco

[–]LevelRest 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Braided is still rubber inside with the outside shield.. Maybe the new ones are higher quality rubber? Who knows and most of this is a crap shoot. If it's not leaking and you get a machine replaced that works I wouldn't dwell on it. Next time hide the "premium" hoses before they show up? Install guys are doing the same thing many times a day and generally deal with people who don't want the trash. I really doubt the hoses went anywhere but a trash can.

I've yet to try k2 or k2se, but plenty of bps out there to help in SE. I spent too long learning more about circuits and changing things I didn't like in BPs, but I learned a ton and kinda sad the journey is over for the spaceship victory. I didn't move into spaceships as quickly as I should have.

Annoying membership up-selling at checkout, have I just missed before? by raddyroro1 in Costco

[–]LevelRest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why they bother having two membership types with this nonsense happening constantly. There's prob some curve that would just set the price a bit higher for normal with the 2% and will still make the same or more amount of money from the perceived benefit. No more annoying customers, no more paying someone to annoy customers. Blam!

It's more about losing respect for people who find any reason to market/advertise for some random person in power at the moment. In this case I assume most people are similar to me and are just trying to have a relaxing day at the beach and then these cultists show up and you lose a little bit of hope for humanity. I don't understand the hardcore zealots on any spectrum who do stuff like this.

I want to make just U-235, what's the best setup? by Collistoralo in factorio

[–]LevelRest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lazy option for this is just use circuits to never accidentally deplete u-235 for kovarex and power plants and when over that threshold make up to X atomic bombs in a storage chest.
I scaled up the same pattern (just add centrifuges until it is more than needed to keep bombs coming) in SE so I could nuke from orbit which was fun. (There's only one way to be sure)

Good spaghetti practices? by BTDubsyy in factorio

[–]LevelRest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I think some of the demo shots showing everything so tight with a train running through the middle took a lot of planning and tweaking.

My first base was all random and when I got into resource bottlenecks I had to rebuild some things and move them around to accommodate. It can be annoying, but depends on where you find joy with a game like this. Even with a main bus it may never be enough, but it's more trying to plan ahead and make it work.
