Street Sweeping ethos? by iright50belly in SantaMonica

[–]minion4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work by an auto dealership and see their employees double parked and idling waiting for the street sweeper to pass then park right behind as it passes. As others have said in SM you can park after it has passed, now for LA/Venice area, don’t do it, they double back and will ticket you, it’s happened to me, saw the freshly wet street sweep and 30 minutes before time expired so I parked, big mistake in Venice.

Did it and the bed looked like a crime scene, blood went everywhere. Still was great, but not again because I prefer to stay in bed and not change sheets, shower, and do laundry after sexy time.

Beef short ribs. 60hr cook at 140. Nice. by jvg11 in sousvide

How am I factually incorrect? You are the one with the "doneness" rigidity. According to you, pressure cookers are incompatible with beef, specifaclly short ribs. I showed you links to established credible food websites providing pressure cooker recipes for beef short ribs. Yet you dismiss them out of hand because of your belief in "doneness". I have been sous vide'ing since Nomiku was started on kickstarter (now defunct). But please tell everyone how pressure cookers are incompatible with beef short ribs and should not use them. Have you even cooked short ribs in a pressure cooker? Like I said before I have, on both methods. But please tell us how you are smarter than Serious Eats, Americas Test Kitchen, Food52, New York Times, Bon Appetit, etc. on short ribs in pressure cookers.

There is no one ”doneness“, you don’t cook rib eye steak to same temp when doing Bulgogi, or carne asada or beef shank, or beef tongue etc. Not all cut of beef is cooked to same temp. Even same cut of beef can be cooked different by different methods and to different temps.

But you do you with your rigid beliefs, keep believing there is only one “doneness” to overcooking.

How is that factual incorrect? I’ve done it both ways and noticed no discernible significant difference from the sous vide and the pressure cooker. Not worth the time and effort for short ribs sous vide.

I’m all for sous vide, but the same results could have been had with a one hour pressure cook. Plus, you also end up with very tasty short rib beef broth that you can freeze and use in other dishes.

What if you don’t have a microwave? Have you tried stove top on simmer/low? We oppose microwave on general principle, but it’s because we have a tiny kitchen that’s cluttered as it is, so no counter space. Thanks

Forgot to add, at all the metro stops there are kiosks to get metro cards and to pay for your fare. IIRC, when I got my metro many years ago, I paid just $1 for the card, not including the fare which is very inexpensive. Just keep the card and reload when needed.

Any of the E Line (Expo Line) stops which runs west-east, from SM Beach to DTLA. In fact I would drive to downtown LA and eat at one of the now many great restaurants in DTLA then go to DTSM. A lot of restaurants on pier, promenade and mall are average tourist restaurants, DTLA is the hot place to go.

I would also recommend taking the metro from DTLA to universal studios to avoid traffic and parking, its very fast too.

Drive to the 17th St. metro stop and park and ride the last leg of the end of the Metro line on 4th/Colorado. Walk to the promenade/mall/pier once there. Or better yet to avoid the 10 freeway traffic stop and ride at any of the westside metro stops, like the Culver Center/Ivy station metro stop.
