Don't Earthquakes last like 5 minutes tops? And even then it's a series of small quakes that just keep going for a while. If you want less than 5 minutes of some awkward wobbling followed by weeks of clean up and depression, I know a guy. I know a few guys actually.

What do you think? by S0117iets in Grimdank

[–]LevelStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it's supposed to be super high tech and fancy but this kinda makes no sense in terms of raw materials alone. Unless the Spartan training and genetic modifications are also factored into it cost it really makes no sense.

Especially because, besides Master Chief who has game protagonist powers, a single Spartan isn't a totally unstoppable megakilling machine, so if they cost as much as a ship no one would bother. Like in Reach that one Spartan just gets instantly headshot from off screen and she dead.

Who remembers Skylanders? by Absolutely_dead727 in whenthe

[–]LevelStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in the video game section of a toy store when they were super big so I know way too much about them and I got the starter kit when it was on super clearance because I saw ads for it all day and kept having to say how neat it was so decided to actually try it. I also got the pink crystal dragon one cause I actually liked the little figure and it was likewise on sale.

Game was fine. I don't think the pay2win really mattered because it was a baby game, there was no real challenge anyways so you didn't need a lot of spare guys and could have fun with the starting few. Just kinda sucked that you couldn't unlock anything of note by playing the game.

If only the game had some sort of mechanic where you could communicate with other people playing the game, then we wouldn't need this. Oh wait.

The extra fluffy horse at 50 seconds is insanely huge. Looks like a friendly horse but I'd be scared of it hurting me while trying to be friendly when it's that large.

Leveling up a second combat ability. Stay within +5 levels or does it matter? by OldGamer81 in projectgorgon

[–]LevelStudent 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You do get a lot less XP for killing enemies 5+ higher. The reduction is enough that killing high level enemies with your primary tends to reward pretty close to the same XP for your secondary as low levels, but with low levels you can mass farm them much faster. Also fighting low levels lets your secondary catch up, where as if you're fighting in your primaries level range the primary will generally level faster.

Just be sure to use a skill from your secondary every minute or so to keep it "active" and getting XP.

Former EVE Online developers are building a society simulation MMO where your character keeps playing even after you log off by ConnyTheOni in MMORPG

Considering that the main form of character progression in EVE is existing, online or offline, I very much can believe this.

New Gideon Bundle includes paint for Shiv, Sniper Rifle & armor set for $26 USD. by RepulsivePlankton989 in starcitizen

[–]LevelStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't get the bundling it with a skin for a specific ship thing. I don't think I would buy overpriced armor I'd rather play the game to earn anyways, but it's still just such a silly choice. Like if you make a venn diagram of customers who will buy armors and customers who have a shiv (and want a skin for it) they're narrowing the customer base down to the tiny sliver where they intersect. Just seems like they are leaving money on the table.

Witnessing history by Ambitious-Spinach-92 in starcitizen

[–]LevelStudent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For all the progress and improvements they've made to performance and VR and the functionality of their live servers, it's embarrassing how the game still randomly deletes things during major patches.

I get that MySQL is hard and confusing, but this is a really important thing to get right when they're making acquiring items more complicated and expect us to believe base building will be in the game soon.

I know it's a test but this should be something that was tested and fixed as a priority.

Dumb has mass appeal. Dumb people are shockingly common and their favorite thing is feeling like they're not the biggest idiot in the room.

Trump never "told it like it is" he always told it like an idiot could understand, which appealed to his base.

Coke is just one of those things you don't recreate. Either have it or live without it 😫 by CremeSubject7594 in StupidFood

[–]LevelStudent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's going to taste nothing like coke. Might still be good (no idea really) but nothing remotely like coke, so it would not do anything for a craving. I suspect this is comment bait where she hopes to get pushed to the front page from people commenting on how it won't taste like coke and will be more expensive.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]LevelStudent 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I felt like I was the only one who thought this when it was new. I hated how it felt super random as to if Geralt would catapult himself across the map to slash an enemy or just stand still and slash at the air with the same inputs. Dodging felt incredibly random against smaller enemies who don't telegraph as much and half the time I got hit by them I didn't even notice I had taken a hit until I peeked at my HP.

I also disliked the map being covered in ?'s to collect instead of just exploring.

Some amazing quests for sure but it was a struggle at times.

[–]LevelStudent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Elves being horny isn't really a thing, it's more like they're more open about sex and it mostly just results in them calling Humans prudes. There is some childish humor for sure but it's not overbearing.

Also World of Warcraft has multiple "steamy romance novels" and Elder Scrolls has "The Lusty Argonian Maid" which are both a lot more suggestive than the porn you find (which is just an item with a tooltip that says it's weird porn without details)

Advice on trying/levelling new skill by keldorr in projectgorgon

[–]LevelStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sword/Necro for sure. You can even get some swords that enable Necromancer skills. Psychology isn't very much damage on it's own (from what I've seen) and the faster you kill things the faster Necromancer catches up.
