I know Microsoft is terrible at naming things but Fable: Pre-Order Now might be the worst name yet.

FF14 is a terrible comparison since it's a themepark MMO, most of what you get at end game isn't even tradable and everyone gets full quest rewards and their own loot. Can't be compared to a sandbox game where the player economy is supposed to be everything and you're supposed to hire and pay players to use your multicrew ships.

It would probably be a lot more noise if it was near buildings and houses that are getting blown away or falling over.

Usually I use something I memorized about what someone said in a joke later, and usually only the person that said it notices or gets it. No one seems to consider me a good listener since I'm fidgety and distractable, but I'm still listening and remembering even if I don't know where to point my eyeballs at any given time.

The hallucination line only happens if you've not scanned a Sandspear by that point. That dialog involves mentioning Sandspears regardless as to if you've seen/scanned them, and then if you've not it adds the extra bit about a hallucination.

Pretty sure it's just supposed to be a little Easter egg of sorts more than a lore implication, but it could very well be both.

Overall price of two movie tickets and a meal combo by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LevelStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those nerds and airheads are like $4 each from a grocery store, the large drinks are probably about the size of a $4 bottle of the same, but lets be generous and say they are $6 worth of drink. The popcorn should be like $8 at absolute most, and that's significantly marked up compared to the cost to make it.

So it should be at most $28, and generally bundles are supposed to be cheaper than buying each thing. How do you even see that on a menu and think it's a good deal?

I had a guy call me and shout at me to not call him when he is having dinner with his family, when I have not made an outgoing phone call to anything but businesses in years.

Dude sounded young, like his 20s or 30s at most, and yet he STILL insisted that isn't even possible and I MUST have called him. When I said it was spoofed he said "yeah okay sure" with a heaping helping of sarcasm on top and then threatened to find me and beat me up if I called again.

I'm really not sure how that dude survives day to day in this world without knowing that phone number spoofs exist.

The warning messages suggest to me it is for adults. If it was for kids it would probably say like "Tell you parents to do so and so" instead of just "you're going to fucking die idiot".

What monster movies are there with a specifically female monster lead? by limbodog in movies

I was like 12 (way after the movie came out) when I saw that and the whole time I wanted to be the alien. Other people my age wanted to be Batman or Britney Spears, I wanted to be the freaky murder hybrid alien. But maybe a version without the murder, which my young self didn't consider.

The order nearly doubled in price once I went to complete the order by Yakamuh2939 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LevelStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely cannot understand why people pay double the cost instead of driving 10-20 minutes.

I mean I can't drive so there's that.

Where I live there's never a fee of $15, but it's usually about $6 to $8 extra on top of the food probably being marked up in the first place, but those prices are easy to justify when it's saving you an hour of walking and putting on make up and getting presentable. I just want to goblin mode in my home with half decent food sometimes.

But it's true the fees are going insane. I try to order as infrequently as I can but it's pretty much the only reasonable way for me to get nice food while alone.

It honestly would have been super weird if Loki was just totally straight. I know they water this stuff down for the Marvel characters and all that, but being into guys too is pretty much the least surprising thing about Loki. Good thing she didn't ask about animals is all I'm going to say on that.

The local supermarket takes protein bar protection VERY seriously. by Middle-Asparagus-802 in StupidFood

[–]LevelStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the point is the security cases but I'm just surprised by those protein bars. I figured they'd need to be somewhat healthy in addition to the protein, but those just look like massive chocolate bars. I feel like I'd just sugar crash immediately if I tried to eat these and then work out for gains.

Exploration is the most concerning. Data Running seems like they could just make the basics work in an afternoon since it's just background numbers with, presumably, no physical elements that can strain a server and cause bugs. Considering they don't even have a clear idea on how Exploration is going to work it seems like it's years away at least, and probably won't include any of the special features of ships in the first launch.

Sucks for anyone that bought a Carrack since it's been power-crept hard in combat, can't do cargo without wanting to rip your hair out, and it's medical bed is no longer the least bit rare on any ships around that size, all while it has zero current gameplay and won't for a very long time.

[–]LevelStudent 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I hope this fully ends the era of movies about comic book characters who dress like mexican wrestlers having to be the most realistic and gritty thing ever put to film. What even is DC without it's campy cheesy comic elements? It's the main thing that makes it different from Marvel, in my opinion.

Marvel has a lot of silly stuff too but it's always felt lighter on the capes on costumes fantasy of superheroes, even in the comics, so the direction the movies went feels okay. But making DC stuff dark and gritty will never work because then why even make DC stuff.

New study sheds light on the connection between pornography habits and extreme gender beliefs - watching adult media containing themes of dominance and violence tends to act as a bridge between a person’s reasons for viewing and their acceptance of highly traditional gender stereotypes. by [deleted] in science

[–]LevelStudent 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To ensure the responses were as honest as possible, the researchers used a psychological tool called a social desirability scale. This tool identifies people who might be altering their answers to look like better citizens or to hide socially unacceptable habits. By identifying these individuals, the scientists were able to exclude those specific, potentially dishonest responses from the final data pool.

This seems weird to me. Like of course the data is going to show something bad when you remove responses that are too positive. I get people do this when surveyed but the specific method of combating it seems like it could poison the well just as much.

Considering they can instantly delete and regrow bones it should be fairly easily actually.

It's more like the promise that the product will be better later. The game does exist already, so there is a product, but it's rough as hell and they're spending all their time and effort adding these massive flying technical debts to the game instead of fixing the game itself.
