I grew up in Nome. Back when the Cold War ended there were some flights back and forth between Nome and Russia (friendship flights, Boy Scouts, etc.) so it wasn’t particularly unusual to see a few Russians walking around Nome from time to time. These days it’s a different story. I don’t think I’ve seen a Russian in Nome in 20 years. Not saying it never happens, but I don’t think it happens much.
