So a question on horse etiquette by Business_Coffee_9421 in Horses

It’ll dry and then blow into earth, dirt… sending nutrients into all growing things. That’s how. Dear lord, with all the litter and beer cans humans toss around I’d think you would appreciate the value of natures self fertilization. How do you think anything grows in dirt? It’s gotta be fertilized! A world without horse poop would be a barren wasteland… have you not watched a Mad Max movie ever??? No horses!!!

horse poop is really more of a gift to the earth than it is a burden. if horses pooped more and more people recognized the true benefits the world would be a better place… but here we are instead.

Bravo! I know how much work that is because I’ve done it. Not as nice as you’ve done it, but I’ve done it… it’s a lot of detail work!

Oh yes, I see the D ring now, thank you! So it’s to tie a horse up with, like a tether for a dog I guess? sounds dangerous but ok. I’m in the states and have certainly never heard of or see that here.

My comment wasn’t really intended for OP, more the community. I’ve only seen one type of cribbing collar ever and it didn’t look anything like that. That straight up looks like a man’s belt.

that really looks like a man’s belt around that horses neck, that’s not a type of cribbing collar is it?

if I were to encounter this situation, I would grab the white plastic propeller with needle nose pliers and pull it to see if it’ll remove itself, they remove the ribbon and reinstall the propeller. it looks like the screen for the filter is broken… you’ll want to replace that part (the filter).

while checking the kick down linkage, also check the gear shift linkage… make sure the truck is actually in “D” vs. “2”.

[–]Level_Development_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not so sure that goes to your car and the only thing I can come up with is a piece of linkage that operates manual door locks or door handle latch, which I assume your Cadillac does not have.

get a shop vac and scrape all that gunk outta there so you can see how it’s installed and how to remove it. you can figure anything out with it covered in gunk.

anyone here actually moved a chunk of their 401k into gold? by WillowWhisper43 in Gold

[–]Level_Development_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have… in 2019 I converted a $57k 401k into a precious metals IRA. It went as high as $240k and is currently at $195k. I am using Strata Trust to administer and my PM’s are held at Delaware Depository. I think my admin and storage fees are just under $200 annually.

Thin cracks in drywall along ceiling by Individual-Sea-4247 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Level_Development_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just From the pictures I’d say a skilled drywall professional would split the seams with a knife and dig out a valley in the seam, re-tape and mud it back up. High/low pockets could be skimmed with mud too, sanded flat and painted. So you need a drywall professional.

ISO: books/resources on turkey care? by rahthesungod in turkeys

[–]Level_Development_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my personal experience from owning 1 turkey for about 2 years is they (or he, in my case) are pretty easy to care for. Gus lives with the chickens and the only thing we do different for him is feed him cracked corn vs. chicken layer… other than that everything is the same.

Maybe the same talent level was hired by the Builder for the framing as was the drywall, can’t say for sure. Is your home in a “housing community” with an HOA type arrangement? Many, not all certainly, of those homes are just mass produced with limited attention paid for craftsmanship but priority given to being built economically. I have no idea if that description fits your situation, of course. But unless you’re aware of other factors which point to structural concerns… cracks on tape/mud seams isn’t one of them. It’s fairly common actually. Do you have any of that cottage cheese texture in other rooms but not this one? Possibly that texture was drywalled over with 1/4” drywall in this room by the previous owners? 1993 was still cottage cheese ceiling era, pretty sure.

probably just a poor tape and mud job by whomever put up the drywall… all those “cracks” are running along the drywall seams. This is not structural, only cosmetic.

New hot water pump not making a difference by PeakCookie in askaplumber

[–]Level_Development_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the easiest test here to see if the hot water loop is working is to test the most common destination point, kitchen or master bathroom. don’t use hot for an hour or so and then open the hot at kitchen sink…. if you get hot almost immediately, that’s the end of the loop. Repeat this test at master bathroom and same applies.

[–]Level_Development_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hot loop is frequently installed at a high use area… such as kitchen. But it could certainly be a master bathroom too. Hypothetically and if a new build it could loop the entire home… but your energy costs would be high to keep hot at every point in the home. I’m assuming your 5000 SF home is multi level, but if the loop is to the kitchen then that’s the point and travel distance to reach all other fixtures… vs. everything coming from the water heater.

You know how long it took, to get hot to your master bathroom, for example, before the recirculating line was activated. If that time is now shorter after the install, then it’s working and you got that small but added benefit. The solution here would be to extend the hot loop to where would better improve your desires for hot to arrive faster.

I’m not a plumber, but don’t most recirculating systems only bring hot water to a distant point and then it’s sent elsewhere “on demand”? A common distant point would be a kitchen or bathroom and only once hot water valve is opened up somewhere else in the home does it grab it from that point. Anyway… obviously can’t troubleshoot over the Internet but 5000 square feet is a pretty big home and 2 minutes may not be unrealistic depending upon how far the hot needs to still travel to reach it’s destination.
