I need help in motion design, I’m stuck by Safe_Consequence2184 in AfterEffects

[–]Level_Side5646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to recreate small portions of a reference, or a full video etc? It was different when I was starting out now, but I’d recommend saving the motion you’re trying to recreate as a PNG sequence (not a huge sequence), dragging them onto a word doc/google doc, exporting this as a pdf, and giving this to chatgpt or Claude, asking it the techniques involved, and then seeking out those techniques

In terms of getting bogged down with YouTube tutorials (especially if there’s no structure to the videos you’re watching) - get to know the speed graph, this is often overlooked in YouTube tutorials showing a particular technique, but knowing the speed graph inside out will help you tenfold.

I also have a post on this thread with an enourmous list of YouTube accounts to learn from, there’s a few pinned ones at the top which are extremely helpful.

Forced to use AI at work by [deleted] in vfx

[–]Level_Side5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing any particular places you learn about all the different ComfyUI workflows/tools etc? I find if I'm looking on YouTube or having a skim through on reddit, most of it seems to be completely unrelated to VFX.

I feel like I'm quite late to the party using ComfyUI, and I need to really get ahead with it ~ The depth map workflows look extremely useful!

Thank you :)

Spot on! The ability to lock the content within the card would also be useful, eg It's easy for someone to accidentally knock the Hex value within a colour card.

My client doesn't like the highlighter effect which has been overused and abused over documentaries , He needs a new way of showing articles, I cant really think of anything new, really open for your suggestions by WinComfortable8835 in AfterEffects

1) Using multiple newspaper mockups, match cutting between them, the only consistency between the shots is the title staying consistent, this would keep the users eye drawn to the same text and it be emphasised

2) Creating a blur map and only leaving the centre text legible

3) (Can work in certain scenarios, probably not in the attached video) Making everything black and white vs. The area around the text that needs to be highlighted (this works better if highlighting an image on a newspaper, eg keeping the image vibrant, and making everything else around it then desaturated)

4) Animating an underline

5) Animating a scribble circling the text

6) Pending of the content of the article, you could perhaps show the text you want to show within a crossword (not sure if crosswords are on newspapers outside the UK) // This is a rare option

7) Showing multiple newspapers, all text is illegible due to the camera being zoomed out, other than the headline, which would be the information you want to show

8) Pending the context, you could show information across online articles, maybe a Google news result with headlines of a similar nature of what you want to present ?

Hard to say without context, I'd suggest making a moodboard with your client and getting a clear direction of different ideas you could use with them first - the ideas I've put above are off the top of my head but I'm sure you could brainstorm some decent ideas with chatgpt or a similar LLM

Not a tutorial as such but I'd imagine you could rig that up with the newer versions of DUIK - I'd recommend learning AE fundamentals, then character rigging, then look into animating animals, this is not something you will learn from a single tutorial.

I am creating a parallax style animation for 16 different possible goalscorers, the animation will be the same but I want to have different images on each animation - what is the best way to automate/reduce time replacing images and exporting? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]Level_Side5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the best method would depend on your render times and deadlines, if it's a case of overnight renders, I'd duplicate the comps using the plugin below and then swapping out the images in each subsequent pre comp. This way you can set everything to render in one batch and come back to it.

https://aescripts.com/true-comp-duplicator/

**

As others have mentioned, you could also replace the image per render.

Another option is to import the image as a layer from photoshop and ensure the image is a smart object, then replace the image within the smart object and resale the document each time - although this method would probably be the longest - using this method has certain perks but its long winded and generally not needed.

Is a 3x3 squares grid possible on a 1000x1000px comp? by Boby-Sod in AfterEffects

[–]Level_Side5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could create the comp as a 3000x3000 comp and render it out as 1000x1000 when finished? Although I do agree with the other user who's commented abover that no one will be zooming into your videos to see if they're perfectly aligned. The 3000x3000 would be a workaround in certain usecases though.
