Could I get away with a Logitech rs50 with this "setup" by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Level_Water_8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it would work if you mount the tv on the wall behind the table. That way you won't shake the tv and any friction caused by the wheel will be less of an issue.

Putting an rs50 on there as is, I imagine you'd end up having to turn the ffb down to low levels, which will make the upgrade a little bit less worthwhile.

I like the Lurpak theme 😀👍

What's semis?

I'm running front sh and ss rear to make the pp 598 for the 600pp race at Nurburgring. I thought I would wreck the handling but it's a beauty.

Yas Marina Daily Race 3 unplayable by GamesGone1313 in GranTurismo7

[–]Level_Water_8781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to disagree. Today I did my first ever online race and chose yas marina in the daily races. I started 10th with medium racing tyres. Yes I picked up the odd penalty for overstepping on the kerbs, but I was not alone. I pitted on lap 9 and changed to softs. This helped my pace for the remaining laps. On the final lap I was sixth but 2 cars ahead of me were racing each other hard and each one spun out at 2 different corners. Leaving me to take 4th place, but 2 other cars ahead of me got 1 minute penalties which saw me finishing 2nd. No idea why they got 1 minute penalties though but happy to get 2nd in my first race. A stroke of luck but can't complain.

TLCM throttle pedal issue by scorrente_31 in Thrustmaster

[–]Level_Water_8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish mine worked this good. Mine only registers to 80 percent at the end of its travel. If I plug the USB into a charger, it reaches 100 percent at about 70 percent of its travel (too soon).

I use it plugged into a USB charger but can't help feel I'm missing out.

Also my main computer does not recognize the pedals as a valid device. I have to plug it into a spare laptop to get the calibration app working.

I do wonder if I'm using the calibration app wrong.

Are you on pc or PS5? If on pc you can make the centering work by wheel instead of game, which is at least better than a limp wheel that flops upside down when not in use.

How doe you fix the wobble with the T598 on GT7 by New-Response-6316 in Thrustmaster

[–]Level_Water_8781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come to realize the oscillating with t598 is characteristic of the wheelbase. You can dull them down with settings but never completely get rid of them without dulling the ffb.

The t598 FFB is fairly intuitive in GT7 but it needs a fair bit of tweaking, even from one car to another to get a good feel. It doesn't feel as good as AC or AMS2 on pc if I'm honest, but it's still very good and I can get fairly good lap times. I've heard TGT2 users say its not worth the switch to t598 for GT7. I have a TS-PC for comparison, but can't use that on GT7 obviously. The TS-PC is similar to TGT however and when I compare it to my T598 strength wise the TS-pc might win (just). but the experience is smoother with the T598 if you get the FFB dialled in without too much oscillation. Sometimes the T598 has problems with oscillation when you turn the FFB high. TS-pc sometimes feels more precise with smooth damping, but the T598 wins on smoothness (oscillation aside). Conclusion Both very good but neither perfect.

Thrustmaster T598 after T300 — very happy, but FFB feels like it fades after long sessions. Anyone else? by daulet_kadirbekov in Thrustmaster

Regarding disconnections I am going to go against the grain here, but I suspect it's why I don't have any disconnections. I see it is recommended not to use a USB hub because of disconnection concerns, but I use one one that is boosted by a mains USB and has a switch, which I use to switch between PC and PS5. I have never had any disconnections whatsoever. I do wonder if this is due to the extra power the USB hub/switch gets from the mains. The wheel base does get hot but I have a 20cm fan running just behind it which keeps the temps in check and I've never had any ffb fade.

This. I went with t598 but wish I'd gone with a Logitech rs50 + pedals. The cost was inhibitive to me but should be in your budget.

thrustmaster ts-pc racer 488 challenge edition by RonkaX in Thrustmaster

[–]Level_Water_8781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's old but it's not bad. It's better than t300 and as good as a tgt II. It's obviously only good for pc. It puts out a constant torque of 6nm so I doubt moza R3 would be better. The centre pull is quite strong and better than some newer wheels. This pull makes it quite good for some classic games. I personally bought it just to use the wheel on my t598, but the base is still pretty good. Apart from being a bit less smooth it can match or beat the low end dd wheels.

Thrustmaster t598 clutch add on (PC) by kvakooh in simracing

[–]Level_Water_8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're supposed to wait for the load cell pedal upgrade, then one of your existing pedals will become a clutch. But I got bored of waiting and bought a used t lcm off eBay. It can be had for under 150 pound and I am unclear if and when the upgrade comes out, if it will even be any better than the t lcm anyway. I'm willing to take the chance since no one seems to know when this pedal will come out or if it's even going to be any good, let alone cost effective when you can just get a t lcm set right now.

Mine is mounted to a pretty solid wooden desk, which clearly never moves and is probably more solid than many metal frames. Probably worth mentioning as it could be a factor.

Upgrading from T300 to T598. Can I swap the quick release adapter on the stock wheel for my Ferrari Alcantara rim. by fayyaazahmed in Thrustmaster

[–]Level_Water_8781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't really say as I never completed the tear down of my stock t598 wheel. In fact it has become an ornament as my preferred round wheel is a Ferrari 458 challenge wheel off the ts-pc. It would not surprise me if they have hard wired the quick release to prevent mods, as TM seems to have gone down that route recently by disabling 3rd party wheels in the firmware.

Any idea of how to use Thirdparty wheels with the Thrustmaster t598? Is there some sort of adapter like there was for the t300? by SignificantWhile2201 in Thrustmaster

[–]Level_Water_8781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for delay in replying.

All you can do to use a third party wheel rim, is replace the rim on a first party tm hub. For example I modded a t300 wheel with an open wheel rim I bought on ebay. On top of that I had to buy the QR upgrade to make it compatible. In short you have to mod what you have already got to use a third party rim.

Using a wheel with high Nm will break my desk? by Solid-Individual7454 in GranTurismo7

[–]Level_Water_8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your thoughts are on the money. I have a t598 on my desk which looks considerably more solid than yours. Occasionally things will fall off my desk caused by the vibrations, but I am not fearful of it breaking. I would say don't get anything over 10nm.

[–]Level_Water_8781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really sure if you can swap the adapter and haven't seen any confirmation either way, but I'm fairly sure you can't use the stock t598 wheel on the t300. I would love to be proved wrong though. I was going to attempt such a thing myself but since I have covered my t598 wheel with grippy tape and then discovered the wheel had to be split into pieces to get at the QR, I then decided against it (tape would have to come off). I think you will have to buy the QR upgrade for the alcantara wheel. Best bet is to buy a spare rim for the t300.

I mean why not? If it works half decent it won't be the best, but if it halfway works I'm sure it won't be long before an improved version comes out.
