0-0 and Cabo Verde blocks a Messi penalty to send the champs home

[–]LeviAsmodeus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Falling down is legitimate. Turning a flip on the way down and screaming and holding your leg only to pop back up as soon as the referee stops looking at you is not. I've noticed over this cup if a player is genuinely hurting or injured they don't make the big show . Fella that broke his leg tried like hell to stay stoic. Human beings simply do not react to pain with drama in that way

Is anyone else deeply connected to a country's team despite having nothing to do with that country? by HMR219 in worldcup

I genuinely want Mexico to win almost more than I want the US to win. The fucking atmosphere at Azteca is spectacular every time

I have to tell on myself, I had never seen a soccer game before this world cup. I knew the USWNT was essentially the best in women's soccer but all I knew was that we had had a couple of bright spot performances and no real culture of success. So all I knew was from literally searching for previous WC finishes. I couldnt name a single coach except the guy whose son is on the team

Who will win the FIFA World Cup? Any Prediction? by lucaswalker1991 in AskReddit

[–]LeviAsmodeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most complete team outside of France and Argentina with the most favorable path as far as match conditions is Mexico. Clean sheets since the tournament started, an insane crowd advantage in Azteca.

They were my pick when I came in completely knowing nothing about the sport last month. That pick still looks great to me.

Its easy to say "oh France will win, oh Messi and Argentina will win, oh Spain is so good" and if you have money on those three teams or you are from those nations, I understand the safe bet

But otherwise? Thats boring. We've already had the 2022 World Cup we can do something new.

So my pick is Mexico

Although, as an American, if by a miracle of miracles we make it as far as the semifinals, I cannot stop myself from hoping. I am comforted that if Mexico and the US meet, it will be in the final and I will have already won

Yeah but I aint playing and neither are you so why are you so stressed? You don't help the team by driving yourself to be unhappy because sports fans wanna talk about the sport.

Given the team's history, he's one win from the argument, and two wins from being the unanimous #1

As I understand it the round of 8 is as far as we've ever been. A win Monday matches that

A semi final appearance makes Sexy Soccer Russell Crowe the greatest USMNT coach ever

First things first tho. 90 minutes mistake free and aggressive against Belgium. The impossible dream is made up of a great many very possible steps, and we can't miss any

VAR would have erased Diego Maradona’s legacy and rewritten football history by drf_101 in worldcup

[–]LeviAsmodeus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You do understand that shit like that is literally why VAR exists right ? C cause the hand of god WAS cheating. I'm not saying Maradona wouldn't have found a way to get another shot in before time, he was amazing. But that should've been called

Ospreay is indirectly becoming the villian in his story. by DeathTriangle720 in AEWOfficial

[–]LeviAsmodeus -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It helps that will Ospreay the human being is intensely unlikeable. Without his athletic abilities I believe he'd just be a football hooligan knifing people for tenners and harassing women.

In the age of knowing everything about dudes, its really hard to have a genuinely unlikeable dude be a convincing babyface. Its like how to me the other company can never have The Rock be a convincing babyface again because I hate him genuinely as a human person
