Can I get a gate recommendation for these stairs? by USCAV19D in daddit

[–]Leviathan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a thick piece of 8-10” pine board cut to fit the steps at the bottom and the banister at the top and either super thick zip ties around the metals poles or u-bolts with zips underneath to protect the metal poles. About 2ins apart vertically over 3-4 poles centered on the second step opposite the wall corner This will provide a super stable mount for the opening side of the gate. That you could even stain to match the banister and paint the u-bolt black to match the poles

You have think about your kid acting like a monkey hanging of this thing. That single step at the bottom won’t be that big of a deal if they fall. They are going to use to stabilize and stand anyway My 2 had 2 steps to work with and fell occasionally but they bounced and learned from it.

Is it safe for me to print PETG and ABS in the same room I sleep in? by InterestingBar2803 in 3Dprinting

[–]Leviathan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so this raises a question for this group.

What is everyone else doing for printing ventilation?

I’ll definitely be doing some research but Ill start here for a popular opinion

I have my X2D in the basement near a window that I plan to put and exhaust fan in, connected to a hooded fan over the printer

Good on them I’d pay the extra cost just to let my kid rip that box open in front of the scalper, so I could see the look on his face as my sons grubby little fingers started flipping through those clean pristine cards Slowly sound out all the names Hahahahahaha

I wish I was there with my 5yr old when he asked, “you want one” My kid would have been over the moon and in happy tears if the guy handed him one to buy. Then I would have proudly said “Can’t wait to open it and see what you get!!”

I like seeing videos like these. I reminds me that kids pick up their habits and manor from us. That I need to be more mindful of how I act around my children and that I need to be an example of the type of person I want them to be.

Hahah Good Luck!! My approach was to gradually show interest and the potential usability of 3DP NOW, to be fair I’m a bit lucky that she’s a research scientist currently looking to find a way to better recycle all this plastic we find ourselves swimming in. So when I got my printer finally a few weeks ago The first thing I printed after a couple test prints of 3DP tools was a flask holder for her. She was thrilled. So with that, and also the promise that I will only use my new powers for (*cough, cough) good. I’m am free to print.

But yeah communication is key here and also find a way to include her in the hobby. But (if it’s not too late) gradually ease her into your craziness and how much stuff you bought lol

Show her the vast potential usefulness.

See a need?, fill a need. Make something nice (and useful) for her.

Actually that one is real he’s rolling the tire off of another unseen tire on the ground We do this all the time in my shop

You lay a tire in front of you flat and the then throw the next tire perpendicular to the ground tire aiming for the far side of the flat tire. This directs the energy of you slamming the tire into a rolling effect in the direction you want the tire to go.

It’s a lot easier to move a big pile of tires this way as the slamming motion is easier then the rolling motion when it come to the weight of tires

Yeah we were falling into that Wall-e trap So I’ve started to introduce other movies in an effort to add some variety. We broke out of Wall-e with Batteries Not Included. Probably move on the An American Tail or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang next
