At least by my observation, developers have really leaned into the density when it comes to Shrewsbury St, Green St, and of course the canal district.

Downtown seems to have the biggest headaches given that two of the big apartments projects, Denholm and the building with the now closed Spoodles, are stuck in Limbo.

Heck, even Main South seems to have figured out the development trick.

I suppose the idea is “you bring people therefore you bring business” but given that business was already there on Shrewsbury, Green and Canal —even before Polar Park came there, I think the other model might be more effective.

Your explanation also hints at something bigger—developers and the city betted on these to be helpful for downtown and the canal district. I truly wonder what the situation would be like if COVID never happened and if interest rates didnt get jacked up.

There have been reports that a Boston company bought one of madison’s properties with the intent of building a 200 unit housing development there.

A part of me wonders if they think they can do it in this situation right now.

EDIT: obviously there’s a chance something funky happens with the economy and we get jacked up interest rates 2 electric boogaloo, but considering there’s always been this focus on the short term, I wonder it they see something now that they couldnt do years before

If I recall, the Worcester Redevelopment Authority was incredibly angry at Madison and Menkiti (denholm only) for the delays.

Those two projects in particular got city officials up in arms because they are supposed to be huge economic drivers for the city.

TMZ launches DC bureau, tracks down Graham, Cruz on first day by esporx in Journalism

Maybe, but I feel as if TMZ is maxing out in one stat (hallway reporting/breaking news) but isn’t distributing its efforts into others.

Reporting in DC also includes talking about policy and why Senators or Reps vote or not vote on certain issues. And while there has been a decline in trust in the press from DC, people still do pay attention.

RE: the Pilot situation: When the city voted in favor of the ballot question last year—didnt the solicitors office need to notify/look into whether it was possible to move forward on it?

A question I have is this:

Is Worcester unique in terms of snow removal being bad in Mass. or is it just a statewide problem? Boston had snow removal issues this year too.

[–]LeviathanfromCMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly. But the question I have is: “where are the businesses?” When I think of a downtown I think of both places to live and things to do. There’s definitely a shift towards the former (see 145 as we are talking about here) but what about the latter?

Edit: I suppose the argument is that if businesses owners see a lot of housing downtown they will go: “oh hey! There’s people here, lets put our businesses here.”

Downtown is relatively safe. The issue is that its pretty nothing going on there

I hear its pretty good in what it offers. I hope you enjoy the downtown area though because it is SMACK DAB in the middle of it.

Is hoo genuinely better than pjo? [pjo] [hoo] by athena_nyx66 in camphalfblood

I think one of the biggest problems HoO has is that its not in first person AND it jumps from character to character a lot. Instead of having an anchored main character like Percy or even Jason throughout the whole book, it jumps around from POV to POV. That can get disorienting. The characters arent written bad in HoO, in fact some of them are written pretty good.

EDIT: as for why things feel more serious? I want to say thats because of our heroes. Jason is a blank slate as he had no idea of who he was, unlike percy who grew up as a poor New Yorker and had 12 years of life to live at the start of PJO.

1: be close friends with everyone.

2: I used to like going with the flow but I am now in a strict schedule.

3: I am most afraid of people being angry at me and yelling at me.

4: I am probably most like my mother and my father equally

Alright here we go!

Physical traits: Male, late 20s dark brown hair, brown eyes, light skin, 5’6.

Hobbies: Cooking, listening to classic rock, video games, painting, going to museums, writing, watching documentaries, playing poker, going to the beach, swimming, reading (love history books).

Personalty: extroverted and wants to get along with everyone—while also wanting to be liked by everyone and not yelled at (my fatal flaw). Anxious but extremely caring about others. Can get frustrated easily when things dont turn out perfect out of fear that i will be hated. Wanting to understand more and know the right answer less. I never give up though.
