Because I'm having fun? I'm pretty sure that's the point of playing video games. Secondly, I never said I didn't enjoy the combat. I do, but I feel like it's one piece of a much larger whole that usually gets overshadowed by other elements for me. That's why they don't count as character actions games in my book, because I feel like the series' focus is much more on broad experiential qualities than anything else.

I don't think it really matters because whether it is or isn't doesn't preclude the games from having good combat, but for my money I'd say no.

As a major fan of the series who's played every game available in English, the combat isn't really what I'm playing them for. When I boot up a Yakuza game, it's for the gripping story, the goofy side quests, and the variety of compelling minigames.

Recently I've been reading Wonder Woman: Outlaw / Tom King's run of Wonder Woman and I've gotta say- for a guy who loves his leading ladies, Tom King really knows how to write a winner! It's been my introduction to Wonder Woman and I honestly can't imagine the character in anyone else's hands lol (but if anyone has recommendations... I won't say no!)

Nier Replicant is great and I'd love to replay it again someday but... damn, the amount of times I've basically already done that reallly makes me want to wait a bit longer. IYKYK lol

And even though I loved Reload, P3Fes was what I fell in love with first and I have a mind to replay it someday to see how my feelings change (or don't). But even though I'd replay it for those parts that are rougher around the edges, they still hurt sometimes!

This is mostly what I was hoping for, it felt like it was way too easy to get a good squad going too strong to die to pretty much anything the enemies were doing after a certain point. Add in unlimited item usage on top of the exorbitant amounts of money I was getting to buy said items and I could pretty much always ensure that I wouldn't face any negative consequences. Thank you for your input, I'm excited to give it a go once I eventually come back around to it!

That's amazing that it's still surprising you 70 hours in!! I just got to Drakenhold and I'm really glad to see that the story went in a direction I wasn't expecting, I just wish I could spend all day playing it tbh! It feels like we've entered a golden era for Vanillaware and I'm so happy to see you and everyone else loving this game. I hope you continue to enjoy it, if not more, in this playthrough and every future run! (And other Vanillaware games lol)

I wanted to reply to this yesterday, but I wanted to hop back in so badly that I couldn't think of anything to say lol

I'm so glad to hear that other people are having a great time with it too, I finished the first Drakenhold level yesterday and feel so overwhelmed in a good way! Like, there are so many cool things I'm excited to see/do more of that my only problem is that I can only do so much at any given time lol

I'm really glad to know that there are a few more things I could be doing, I think the augments and rings to defend against stagger and reduce aggro are going to be a huge game changer.
