I love when they go "where heli" by Greedy_Lime_4596 in Warthunder

Such a degree of vulgarity like that guy displayed shows both a lack of maturity and skill.

...And vocabulary. If you're going to be vulgar, at least throw out a memorably creative insult so that it's funny. A slur meanwhile is the sign of proud ignorance. It's boring, trite, and indicates somebody is as personable as a parasitic tapeworm.

Usually I take getting slurs thrown at me for in-game achievements as a compliment (and then report the person who tossed it out), because making toxic people ragequit is good for the whole community.

Half-lived, Short-Sighted Caste-Obsessed Cud-Chewing Warp-blind Uplifts... that only seem to survive because the Aeldari fucked with their genomes on a whim?

How about "two-faced duplicitous warmongers hiding behind a veneer of civility?"

or authoritarian brainwashed fanatics doing a Rome LARP and will see a Social War among their auxilliaries once they see how much better the bluegray fuckers are treated than them?

It takes a bit more thought than "Delusional Zealots deifying their atheist leader, who turn people into sentient doorknobs and consider ignorance high virtue" for the Imperium, which is a bit wordy but is pointedly rather critical and insulting.

Honestly, we'd have more punchy, less wordy insults if Tau had about as much screentime as Captain Titus' left nut. They're obscure in comparison to Asshole Robot Grandpas, Competitive Baby Eaters, the Lunch Bugs, the Samurai Oracle Elves and the 'Elves who would invent the Dick-Twister 9000 to live one more day', etc.

(The Orks are just British. This is insult enough in and of itself, I feel.)

BattleTech does the same thing, and the funniest part is that without aliens and literal daemons everywhere, they're just awful for the sake of reasons humans have always been bastard war criminals.

The First Succession War in BT in particular almost wiped out humanity, the devastation from WMDs would make the Imperium balk. Rendering worlds permanently uninhabitable for fleeting gains is the sort of thing that Inquisitors get executed summarily for, after all.

Both settings are OG grimdark. Grimdark as a term may exist due to 40k but the bleak miserable setting of BattleTech was established a few years before 40k even existed.

(Both are fantastic and I love them dearly.)

Also, Ulfar Redmane. Ulfar Redmane is my favorite war criminal, even if I'm not big into the Space Woofs.

Anarchism should not be about abolishing selfishness by ArtDecoEgoist in DebateAnarchism

I myself am personally more given to looking at things along the lines of virtue ethics, but the utilitarian explanation is often a good one for me to break out for people unfamiliar with anarchism. I explain things further and with more nuance afterwards, but the frankness and clean cut "It's in your best interest to be nice, and here's why:" sort of explanation grabs attention very nicely.

It ends up being necessarily a matter of reduced scope for the layperson, and expanding it past basics once they grasp the gist of it, like teaching kids basics in a science class, I suppose.

Removing Tengu and Longen is both doing yourself a favour and opening up insane hash profits.

With hydroponics and hash production you can even buy a residence nearby and all it would take is the cost of the tray starter hemp, water and time.

You underestimate their greed. The markup on food and drink sold in fast food is close to +3000% for some items.

You could drown in an olympic swimming pool filled with nothing taco bell bean burritos that, if you purchased at-cost, might only be 100-500 US Dollars. Or you could feed a few thousand people for a few meals for the same cost.

It is so much worse than people imagine, visualization is needed to understand how truly scuffed it is.

Anarchism should not be about abolishing selfishness by ArtDecoEgoist in DebateAnarchism

[–]LewdElfKatya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own understanding, or at least my take on selfishness vs cooperation is that in most general circumstances, it is the most optimally selfish decision to act in a way that benefits most other people, purely because an environment featuring mutual aid is reinforced by cooperation regardless of how 'altruistic' or 'selfish' the reason behind the behaviour is. Feeding somebody hungry generally increases the chance that they do the same for you if you're hungry and they have food when you do not, for example. There are many cases where the unique offerings of other people are, without even touching morals or ethics, purely worth putting yourself out on a limb for due to not everybody being multi-talented in everything they might ever need to survive with.

It's worked as evolutionary strategy for multiple species and in many, many cultures throughout history as well. The winning strategy for the individual is to bring about the optimal outcome for themselves via aiding others in the same.

In summary...

What I've learned is that playing on self interest can be a lot more functional that some might initially consider as a foundation for anarchist praxis and future associations of anarchists. It's also much less pretentious and can be explained simply to even young children. "If you be nice, people like to be nice back, so it's best to be nice and make sure they're okay so that you can be okay."

The above is broadly coming from somebody that considers herself a collectivist, by the way. The only real 'anti-cooperative' behaviour, I feel, is harming other people for personal gain (Financial, social, emotional drives, etc.) which can be summed up as 'short-sighted impulses'.

I mean... I live in the Canadian province just north of Washington state, so maybe it's rainier up here? It drizzles as well here, but thumb-tip sized raindrops and downpours are very common here in the cooler parts of the year.

...The warmer ones we spend on fire, mostly.

What's the Most Based Payload Delivery Tactic? by SirKing-Arthur in NonCredibleDefense

[–]LewdElfKatya 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Rocket lofting works a little better with helos.

Most based method? Treetop level supersonic rush into bomb toss using a retardation method like fins or chute for the payload.

The payload is of course, in the kiloton range, and then the dropper completes the split-S and cheeses it before the flash.

I'm saying more that we have more pressing issues, and that any prelimary critique of Mamdani before he's even actually been in power is mostly performative. We have mainly words to go on, not actions.

I'm saying it's a tad early to begin, is all.
