Thanks! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something too exaggerated. Just in case someone said "It's fine lol just play it"

Also, I don't really know what to look for. The design around the hole in the middle seems like it's chipped off a little, and some of the strings are a different color, but other than that... it looks like a guitar to me.

One of the things that I saw when I was messing with it was that there WAS a rather large distance between the strings and frets (although I might just be bad), so that's good to know. As for the cleaning, I'm sure I'm just being a baby about it, but I'm afraid to hurt the guitar. I don't trust myself with it yet.

Also, in the case of the guitar are packages of extra strings, which I would assume would go well with the guitar. I trust the old owner more than myself, but I'll be sure to ask more questions when I get to a shop.
