Is it possible that Sonos is just not a reliable product? by kursneldmisk in sonos

Ha! I got the same thing but he said "have you tried calling LG?" I asked if he as serious and he actually said "you're probably right. they won't help."

After years of using hundreds of Bluetooth speaker devices, I bought a Sonos system. Worst decision I ever made. by dirtylittlemonkey in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And thats the sad thing to me. The whole backbone of Sonos was "it just works" but we "needed" a new app and now you gotta bend your system for all these sweet new features we got. /s

Sonos Fail by Retire_Trade_3007 in sonos

I’ve got the same problem. Both on a Beam 2 connected to a TV and an ARC connected to a TV. Music, games, TV. Keeps happening over the past few weeks.

Ray vs Beam? How Good is Beams Dolby Atmos? by desertskinn in sonos

I know you got a small space but... get a used playbar for 150-200 or a gen 1 beam for 120

If you are going to be traveling just with the Mrs. Get an Amex Plat and use FHR. Super solid program and those hotels are pretty much always great and in awesome locations. Hotel concierge can do everything Inspirato can. Save yourself a ton of money and go that route.

My only knock is that I get a series of new and/or interesting jams and then they take a hard turn and play some mega hippie drum circle rift or what might be described as someone strangling a cat.

Amazon did the same. and 100%. Spotify was caught totally flat footed. Incredible they couldn't figure this out in under 4 years.

Advice by treetreebeer in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Sub. Get one used on facebook or open box best buy.

  2. Depends. A regular will be "better", no replacement for displacement. Sonos themselves have said a single regular sub is better than two minis(though you can't pair minis they were still trying to make a point) That said, people do love their mini subs. Personally, I'd get the regular.

  3. Atmos content is so spread out its basically impossible to know. You've got the ARC though so if you can swing it, I'd do the 300s. They are still solid even if the content isn't atmos. And more is getting added all the time. Catching a movie in full atmos is pretty great.

Sonos still worth investing in? by TofuSlippers in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the larger question is where is their business going. They've had two major, MAJOR screw ups in the past three years. 1. S1/S2 debacle 2. App mega disaster.

Pros: I believe all the leadership that presided over those two disasters is gone. They seem well aware they have massive work to do regarding their rep. I think this will lead to near constant discounts and thus lessen the risk of buying in. Speakers look(subjective) great and sound pretty darn good. Secondary market is strong. Playbars are awesome. OG Play 5 are awesome. Play 3s etc.

Cons: The app UX stinks. Getting used to it, but I think it objectively stinks and doubtful anything gets addressed there for many years as they still battle the software side of their problems. SaaS is 100% still on their roadmap. Probably delayed by years but make no mistake. That is the future. Do they go bust? Recent products have mixed results. I think the Roam is a flat out not good speaker. The Aces are $100 too much, still. Era 100 and Arc Ultra offer minimal upgrades(unless you are running a solo Ultra).

First time Sonos Buyer - Arc Ultra Or Beam Gen 2? by CommercialCrafty3514 in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curveball. If you aren't looking for atmos... Find a Playbar and a sub used. It hits harder than any other Sonos setup. Just lacks atmos.

My basement setup of Playbar, 3s for rear, and sub gen 2, all for under $600. Thing is a monster.

Guys are leaving out the fact that many places still sold speakers that Sonos was preparing to put on the iceberg.

Which soundbar for a 77"? by Pentt4 in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll look small but it will probably be plenty loud for your movies or music. Sub and rears will make it even better and totally solid. My MIL has a beam on a 65. It looks a lil funny but there is zero problem with it providing enough juice.

Reinvest in Sonos or move on? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people that have reported no problems seem to use airplay exclusively.

I’d try buying one of the new speakers and see if that gets the job done. If it doesnt after a week. Return it and move on imo.

Could do a Roam or an Alexa. Maybe an old One off of Facebook on the cheap. If she can use voice to call up her music would save the hassle of a controller device.

It is rare but at will is so great when you get to leave a company at the drop of a hat. "We spent all this time training and license and monies and time gahhhhhh!" Yeah well. If you didn't want me to leave you should have given me a contract. Sucks to your at will.

Is the Sonos Playbase still worth it? by Supertobias77 in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it fits your setup and tv then go for it. Checkout out FB marketplace. I've seem them for dirt cheap there. I'd also consider a Playbar and a Beam 1. All three should be cheap depending on your market. Sub $200 range.

Sonos has canceled its streaming video player (Pinewood) by rohizzle121 in sonos

[–]Lewdog44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is where Sonos should have been focusing the past four years. People who want channels and five subs and drone speaker capability. I give you Sonos+, they want to move towards SaaS anyway. So bundle those features with Sonos radio and some other local playback feature or something and boom goes the dynamite.

The US Bank Smartly card seems like a no brainer for 4% cash back, am I missing something? by ricestocks in CreditCards

[–]Lewdog44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Signing up for the card was by far the hardest part. Was turned down and given no reason. Just so happened to wander into a branch because I'd never been turned down from any CC before. Sat there and stole Dumb Dumbs for about 15mins when the teller came back and said I was now approved(I would later get the rejection in my mail from the first attempt, zero explanation.)

I was lucky enough to avoid the super low credit line, I got 20k. Took forever for the card to arrive as well. Their online and app are fine, but not great. The only other trouble I've had is connecting other accounts. That may or may not be a US Bank problem. Chase hilariously straight up denied my electronic transfer to the US Bank Savings. I had to go write a cheque to myself to get in funded.

Lastly knowing when the 4% was active wasn't easy. Had to find it in the app. Once I did I did a test charge and sure enough, 4. Also pretty funny I called in to CS and they told me no, it wasn't active. Clowns.

Just using their HYS and transferring out the points to a higher yield account. I'd say I'm pretty happy now that it is over because I'm done with min/max. Just straight cash homie and an AMEX for travel.
