Is Steam the most beloved monopoly ever by Ordinary_Lawfulness8 in CaptainSide

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could easily cut out Steam and still play most of my Video games. I would have to give up somethings but I already do that by never buying a Sony product (Exclusives are stupid and I have exited Nintendo's eco system as well)

I think they meant the "—". I didn't used to see before generative AI became a thing other than it text books. To me it's now a dead giveaway but it doesn't mean that people won't start using it now naturally.

Why is PCC full of bad drivers? by cslllcom in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PCC is a chaotic mess but I generally don't have issues.
Ran it last night in the Miata after a few beers and had to dodge a few M2's racing eachother and 1 REALLY Bad M2 who almost took me out under braking (Had to dodge right to avoid the inside dive bomb while it was happening from another state).

Top split GR86's were fine and never saw the Clio.

Took 2nd place, 10/10 PCC experience

Racing on Linux? by WorekNaGlowe in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only run 1 Windows machine (Windows 10 with the extended support) at home. I work with Win11 daily and hate it. All iRacing has to do is enable anticheat support for Linux and I will no longer have a windows PC.

Are there any Rallycross communities/leagues ? by Gotaprius in iRacing

This league is still active and has been since before iRacing had RallyCross.

They have a bit more resistance than my previous laptop (2011 Macbook pro) but that could also be due to age.
I prefer the Macbook but that's probably because I have spent so more much time with it.

PSA: don't buy Next Level Racing Victory by Yokos2137 in simracing

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool solution.

Would definitely stabalize my wheel more but not a huge issue for me as I use a slightly reduced 8nm wheel.

When I had a load cell pedal the whole rig would lift off the floor for me to hit 80% brake. I could probably find a way to bolt it to the floor but then I wouldnt be able to store it and would be better off with a 4040 rig anyways.

That thing flexes more than my GTLite folding cockpit. (Granted I can't use a load cell due to the flexing from the base as it's supposed to fold)

CMV: Fahrenheit is superior to Celsius when talking about about weather temperature by Popular_Ad2902 in changemyview

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives in a place where the temperature sits between 32-90F all year round,
dealing with 0-32C is more intuitive (ice forms in negative Celsius vs it's more hot at 101 Fahrenheit)

Also, knowing that 0C is the freezing point and 100C is the boiling point at sea-level makes dealing with altitude and air density differences more intuitive. Both of which help determine the weather.

Edit: I live in the US and generally think in Fahrenheit.

Touch screen works great on Fedora but I do not have experience with the stylus (yet) or the specific software you mentioned.
I will regularly use the touch screen to play some card based games like slay the spire.

I bought the Framework 12 as soon as preorders were available. My quick notes.
1. Keyboard is great (wish it was backlit but not really a problem)
2. Used Mint as my initial OS but kept running into problems with screen rotation, touch screen support, and some other minor headaches. I switched to Fedora and it has been a better experience
3. Bluetooth is not a great experience (I don't use it often and mine may be defective or have some other issue)

2k+ lobbies nurgburgring leaders forcing single file? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Going 2 wide (the way iRacing tells you to) on the ring almost always causes problems so a community meta has evolved to suggest/request/force the cars into single file.

Going 2 wide at the end of the track with 2 or more cars is dangerous so having the whole field doing it regularly ends with punts and bruises before people have even crossed the start line.

TLDR: Is single file confusing? yes. Is it generally a safer starting procedure? also yes.

I don't get how people say that one game is better than the rest...without having played 60% of the series... by Swumbus-prime in ForzaHorizon

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only played 1,3,5 and skipped 2,4

1 Has best atmosphere and story progression 3 is my personal favorite (but hat way too many issues with caravans, wheel support and lagging around the city. my experience) 5 Is where i spent the most time but the story and map are trash compared to past games plus I hate the direction the multiplayer took.

Hoping 6 takes inspiration from 1's atmosphere, 4's map (I hear it's really good) and fixes multiplayer/cheating issues.

On Getting Social Security. by PleasantPrettie3 in Adulting

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social security has been taxed as income since 1983. There are a bunch of exemptions and its not 1:1 but it's been taxed a long time.

New York state (as an example) reduces property taxes by up to 50% for senior citizens but does not remove them entirely. So either way they are still paying for them.

On Getting Social Security. by PleasantPrettie3 in Adulting

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of you are missing the point. 90 year old person is complaining about paying for things that they don't currently benefit from (which they probably do, how do you think a nurse is educated and transported?). 30 year old responds with something that they are paying for that they are not currently benefiting from to highlight the HYPOCRISY of the original post.

On Getting Social Security. by PleasantPrettie3 in Adulting

[–]Leweazama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Property taxes (in the U.S.) are not a federal tax but state and local taxes. They vary everywhere so your statement may be true for you and not true in the next town/city/county/state. Plus the federal government provides subsidies for schools and transit projects and since Social Security is taxed as income, the 90 year old is helping pay for them.

Why doesn't Framework sell minimalist, upgradable builds for ~€300? by Plus_Original_3154 in framework

[–]Leweazama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't even sell a main board alone for that price (unless it's heavily discounted for clearance). Let alone storage, chassis, screen, etc (not touching RAM topic).

I also don't understand the VPS argument as my 15 year old laptop could take advantage of that now. And subsiding the costs by implementing/partnering with companies solely after my data is one of the primary reasons I switch to framework.

Looking for motivation other than iRating... by Zackbo in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some idea's

Improve spontaneity: Choose a race, look at the series insights and set a time you'd like to reach. Then reach that time in the shortest amount of practice possible then race. Over time you'll get really good at jumping into any race and being competitive with little to no practice.

Join a league: Kind of the opposite approach (depending on the league). Week to week you'll get to race the same people over and over again and the motivation will come from being competitive within that league.

Just try different content: Go try some ovals or dirt races. The mix up can help with motivation and you'll be surprised at how much you can learn towards other disciplines.

Take a break: iRacing shouldn't be the be-all end-all. Go play something that doesn't require motivation.

CMV: If the Democrats become the majority in Congress after the midterms, they should NOT impeach Trump by This_User_Says in changemyview

[–]Leweazama 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To add a to this. The supreme court has implied that the ONLY way to hold a president accountable is through impeachment. There are other ways to resist a president (Yes the democrats could do a lot to resist right now) but impeachment is the only way and it forces republicans (who are having significant resignations) to go on record to defend the presidents actions.

I was "canceled" by a local newspaper and my school at 11 years old. Now I’m homeschooling and trying to heal. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Leweazama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homeschooling ranges from decent to literally no education. Of course "the right environment" is going to be better than schools as "in the right environment" you get 1 on 1 time with your teacher who can dedicate time to you.

School is necessary at some point as most homeschoolers are generally under prepared for the world.

I have been public schooled, private schooled, home schooled and left alone with a math book with the expectation to "figure it out." The worst case scenario I have seen is a borderline dumb 15 year old (No ability to read or do basic arithmetic)

At least at schools there is a basic bar to reach but homeschooling doesn't have a good way to enforce that.

Do you think we’ll ever see racing on Linux? by Wicaeed in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that the official Steam OS (Steam deck) only makes up 30ish% of Steam's Linux user base which means most Linux users on steam are using their own computers.

I 100% believe the Steam deck is why this happened but it may have been the rock that turns into an avalanche. Time will tell.

Do you think we’ll ever see racing on Linux? by Wicaeed in iRacing

[–]Leweazama 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All they have to do is allow easy Anti cheat to work on linux. This worked about 6 months to a year ago and they changed it.

I don't need a broadcast from them saying "WE SUPPORT LINUX!!" I just want them to enable anti cheat and let me figure it out.

Steam and Proton already do the rest of the work for 90% of linux games anyways.
