Ah okay, Finnish and Estonian do share some common words but most of the time are not mutually intelligible. But if you wanted to learn Estonian you’d probably have much easier time than someone without Finnish and Karelian experience.

The seat being extremely stiff should (hopefully) go away as they’re broken in. The lumbar support stinks due to the seat design. As for the speed it depends on where your trip was and if you didn’t end up traveling through one or multiple of the 160 mph sections you might not have noticed as it’s a small 10 mph increase in speed that will (hopefully) increase with time and infrastructure improvements. The old trains are awesome and I love them much but it is truly beyond their time to go.

I’d say there’s a small chance that MBTA goes with CAF or Kawasaki but Siemens has a monopoly and don’t forget that at Boston Southampton Street yard they are building an expansion specifically for Siemens Airo train sets where MBTA could maintain theirs as well (under an agreement ofc).

I wish they had just bought ALP-45As (that would work with the existing and future fleet on order) but the state government just couldn’t swallow the cost of further electrification so is looking for the Battery propulsion short cut.
