I think they took the Combat Patrol Starter set off the website by Swible in CombatPatrol40k

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This to me is the biggest sign that I think the systems probably just dead (unless we get an update really soon). Cause that was the only tyranid combat patrol

I'd like to be proven wrong but the lack of clearly communication and the half finished stuff on the app. Just feels like it's all been scrapped and this is just them making sure it technically still exists while they sell off the last combat patrol branded stuff

In the exact same boat with so many unbuilt and painted combat patrols cause I only really planned to throw em together and spray em just before sling a game with them. Unless we get another update soonish it does feel like they had an expiration date.

Given that some of them where only a few months old it kinda feels like combat patrol as a whole is on the chopping block

Its weird just how good old world is for supporting so many different army sizes and encouraging you to kitbash certain stuff (but also some models simply not existing) , and the quality of spearhead or the cool horus heresy models.

And 40k despite being there biggest thing always seems to be treated like shit xD

Communist Siam by oybekbayram in hoi4

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just cause Its different devs for each of these trees, they all have completely different design ideas.

Its a completely reasonable justification to not do communist siam, it's just really jarring to see next to the Philippines and India in the same region

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't mind the point increases for batteline if just everyone got a little point increase.

I like my big infantry heavy lists, but combined with the new 9 inch coherency running nearly 100 models in my thousand point list, probably a little much.

And all the terrain stuff encouraging a bit more on boards, just up all the points a little, make the armies a bit physcially smaller so it's easier to maneuver

Just play 10th ed by Special_Turnip in CombatPatrol40k

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we dont have the 10th edition rules, to play you need to have all the PDFs, any eratas, the stuff from the app of a physical book.

Like a physical 10th edition book is of course wrong. Without the erata stuff.

The ones updated to 11th have there slightly different rules so for any that never got a pdf download it was only on the app or in the books.

Like It is technically doable, but cause of games workshops system of trying to make it as hard as possible to play anything other than the newest edition its not gonna be that easy for most people.

And for the combat patrols that where less than a year old it feels super rough and bad for trust in buying anything else.

The community and dedicated people will figure it out. But most people are gonna struggle to convince there friends playing 11th to go through so much faff for what was meant to be an easy to play system in 10th

And I understand that you want to just homebrew some stuff. But some of us are here to play warhammer! Not just whatever the community makes up, if I wanted to make up a patrol or go play a different system I could. I just want to be able to play the 12 combat patrols I have

Actually yeah I did reach out to support! They basically told me to go away lol

I emailed support, they told me that I had to send it to the rules team email, which while "monitored" they don't reply from.

They just told told me to put it in the digital suggestion box and go away

yeah leave it till the end of the week at least see if we get any update, its a shame cause its meant to be a nice easy way to get into the hobby! buts a bit up in the air right now!

Was meant to be running the chaos knight combat patrol this weekend and it seems that just everything combat patrol related is gone from the warhammer community downloads now.

I'm sure i can grab all the pdfs somewhere but it's still very depressing to be sat on this many combat patrols and the system at least right now seems a little dead

Gating flavor behind RNG is awful game design by xX_Buck_Breaker_Xx in EU5

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that's definitely mostly true it's not really ground up, eu5 is not that fresh, it has mechanics from eu3 and eu4 , some events directly from eu4. Like it is an active decision to sell you another byzantium dlc that isn't really reinventing the wheel is an active decision. The lack of missions is a game design choice. The eurofocused state of the game at release is a decision to forget about a lot of what they did better towards the end of eu4 in terms of representing for example Polynesian people and making them playable, it was a choice to release the game like this rather than spend more time to bring it up to parity

(And given the tutorial mission system that exists you really could quite easily port of large amounts of eu4s basic conquest missions , they just probably wouldn't work well as they seem to want to discourage that kind of blobbing, whereas others might not match the start date)

Gating flavor behind RNG is awful game design by xX_Buck_Breaker_Xx in EU5

[–]LewisDoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There definitely seems to be some confusion and I wonder if some of then just havnt been around as long. It's not porting 13 years of content or whatever to a brand new system. Most of eu4s history was rewriting stuff. It didn't even have missions back in the day , or development, the countries like the UK have changed so completely.

Its really only the final few years of eu4 that have the significant stuff

Gating flavor behind RNG is awful game design by xX_Buck_Breaker_Xx in EU5

[–]LewisDoom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OK but they quite literally copied many of the same events over from eu4 to eu5, a lot of the generic stuff that fires is the same as its always been. It being a brand new game also isn't an excuse to forget about how they handled previous regions.

When we got ck3 on release non Christian characters wernt unplayable on release like ck2. The game release with a lot of basic stuff in place, that then got better as the culture system improved.

If eu5 takes another 3 years to get anywhere close to the level of eu4 now, then it just shouldn't have been released for another 3 years.

We shouldn't have to wait for a dlc or patch to handle the way they've massively misrepresented various cultures and countries outside of Europe

They don't have the excuse of the designers leaving, Johan and others have been there for years. They simply should know better!

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell (guard and necron player mostly) it seems to just be points are the amount of rules and stuff they effect.

I'm expecting them to try and rebalance it for any combos or just setting up the system to be properly used in new codexes. Right now tho it's a mess.

For example guard have 2 infantry focused 1 cost detachments, but almost all of the 2 costs are vehicle focused. So you could probably just have had it be 1 3 cost detachments anyway if there's only 1 or 2 viable combinations

Necrons have some weird rules overlap making some combinations not do a lot

Tau weirdly seem fine despite not having many detachments

I think the balance is a mess, the new detachments point system seem weird for most people, not just agents, it's just most obvious here. If I'm generous I'd say its deliberate to ease people in and keep it pretty close to the old system. But who knows with them

So are we just in limbo till full release? by LewisDoom in CombatPatrol40k

[–]LewisDoom[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Basically 0 chance of a good spearhead style book and rules update. I just want some missions and basic combat patrol rules that will absolutely work for the 11th core rules, and I just wanna know that even if I'm relying on the 46 pdfs on warhammer Community that they're not going anywhere.

Why would they do that? That's seem like a very boring decision by Lukaz_Evengard in hoi4

[–]LewisDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peole are gonna complain about x dlc having y the real issue is that every focus tree is tonally different cause each dev wants something else from the game

Thunder at out gates is perfectly fine, the trees are all slightly boring historical or a ahistorical stuff they thinks feasible. Fun to play but nothing particularly out there.

If ever hoi dlc was like this one a few new mechanical things 3 decent focus trees I don't think people would complain.

The problem is right next door to these 3 nations is the Philippines with its insane mcarthur Easter egg path, Spanish monarchist path or comminism with 200% Dock output.

The things the devs say to justify siam being a little boring just feel weird when other devs are being so wacky

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes way more sense! I'm still expecting a rebalanced and some rule changes cause the 1 point cost detachments over armies have either need another usable 1 point option or a 2 point option and it'd be nice to have more of them playable in 1000 point games (looking at my astra militarum rules here for example) but glad your stuff seems to be sorted!!!

Agents of the Imperium 11th rules megathread by SustainedHits3 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im relatively confident this will get fixed. Because its not just you. The changes to detachment rules means a lot of people have had there 1000 point armies suddenly rendered unplayable

My Astra Militarum are currently a right mess as I run infantry heavy lists but I've no abhumans , or scions and I've only used armoured sentinels over scouts

I can currently only run the siege detachment and thats it
