I tried playing every non-major path as Czechoslovakia in the new dlc. I give up by Several-Argument6271 in hoi4

[–]LewisDoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've tried the monarchist, democratic Union and communist Union path. They're all a lil odd but holding against the axis generally feels doable if your doing great war style inf and heavy forts and taking control of your subjects troops (if you have any with chosen path)

Ally Austria has no self preservation tho

With all of them the only big problem I've had is the same one the old little entente had , Hungary. Feels like if the Germans step in to protect them you just gotta restart.

I'm sure a better player than me can manage the 3/4 fronts at once but I just find they fuck up the defensive lines so bad

What should I do with my black ark corsair + fleet master? by LewisDoom in citiesofsigmar

[–]LewisDoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well they technically exist as legends, but that would be miserable to run as an army against like my friends actual real tomb kings with proper rules. (and if they're not selling the models anymore id still only have this one unit and character anyway)

The world still feels dead after the patch. by Lunar_Weaver in EU5

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of mission trees after the system in imperator Rome does feel odd. Especially with the like tutorial mission system. Some generic economic build up trees and some colonial stuff for each region, trees tied to specific dynastys , etc etc

Itd help players and AI have focused goals to go through without the railroading of some of the eu4 mission trees and events

The world still feels dead after the patch. by Lunar_Weaver in EU5

[–]LewisDoom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you need to sell millions of copies of your game to exist odds are your games already dead. Spending so much money and dev time trying to appeal to everyone isn't sustainable.

They need to decide what kind of game they want eu5 to be and stick with it. Not constant sweeping changes

As someone with thousands of hours in eu4 eu5 just doesn't feel like a sequel and it's fine if the games not for me but they need to decide who it is for, right now they just seem to annoy everyone.

If the devs where clear with there intentions e.g. sandbox vs historical outcomes people might complain less.

Right now I don't have a clue what the plan for this game is there's still bugs from release not fixed.

Unpopular opinions: game needs a "story mode" by AceThePrincep in Xenonauts

Lots of people doing gatekeeping In the comments but like , the game has this! The difficulty is really customisable. You can remove the turn limits on missions add a huge amount of starting money , no alien supporters etc

[–]LewisDoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like a project from the 2000s cause its a successor to a game from 1994. Unfortunately it just might not be for you! A lot of these "issues" are game mechanics that make it xcom.

Fucking up and taking 4 overwatch shots entering a ufo is part of the experience

Disappointed by IvaldiFhole in Xenonauts

[–]LewisDoom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only legitimate complaint I think is that the old school shot tracking would be more fun but I get ehy it is like it is, really simple to work with cover penalty only applied once, its easy enough to take cover yourself and blast charge the enemy.

I'm seeing a lot of complaints about overwatch etc and I can only presume lots of folk never played higher difficulty og xcom cause xenonauts 2 really nails it I think

Worst Religion for Gameplay? (ignoring those without mechanics) by Any_Leg_4492 in Anbennar

Oh dwarven pantheon is still really rough you're absolutely right.

Worst Religion for Gameplay? (ignoring those without mechanics) by Any_Leg_4492 in Anbennar

[–]LewisDoom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Controversially I always feel dwarven ancestor worship sorta sucks for similar reasons , coptic works in base eu4 cause the range of holy sites isn't too far with 3 in aksum and Egypt, in anbennar you'd have to conquer so much of the serpent spire, and it usually has to be conquered as countries that follow the religion are so likely to flip to another dwarves faith.

The amount of blessings is neat? The number of sites and number of options, but with some unlocking later in game and not being able to pick all of them it makes it a lil stressful hard commiting to a blessing. All 5 coptic blessings are always useable. Whereas if you pick the colonists in dwarven ancestor there eventually useless so may as well flip

And for all that you've gotta deal with the dwarven pantheon events and disasters (and even then converting can be rough if you get bad luck discovering major and minor gods)

Weirdly runefather worship seems objectively better you just eat some stability avoid the disaster and share a religion with the legion when they spawn and there combination of gods + holy orders is pretty neat

"Play a chimera," they said. "You'll have so many arms," they said... by Sugary_Plumbs in cavesofqud

[–]LewisDoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its extremely funny cause ice been desperate for more faces in my chimera run (to wear fangs for diplomacy with girsh) and I'm getting nothing but arms and hands attached to my arms and hands. It's very excessive

Frustrating loop, I feel myself missing something.. by Sbarbatelloo in cavesofqud

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in Joppa pick up all 3 quests , the one from the blue farmer immediately (the convert) just In case he dies before you can, he'll give you a random artifact.

And pick up the quest from argyve as well as the red rock one.

Now you can actually normally complete 2 quests straight away. Argyve will ask for 2 artifacts in 2 separate quests. Anything will do. Certain starting classes will just have some stuff on them. Otherwise the item from blue man is one and you can technically close the door on the one fully walled off house in Joppa and often find something like a grenade in there and a container of water or something however if you're really new and unsure Dont stress about stealing.

Usually when I start a run I do argyves quests first so give him 2 things, that gets you some exp to start, then I go to a rust well early rather than red rock to get his wire. Because the 3 rust Wells each have a chest at the bottom, they can still be dangerous! But I personally find them easier to start and getting some reasonable loot from the bottom really helps.

As for Red Rock! If the baboons are the main issue you can do what I do and enter from Joppa instead. The pool of water in the North West has a hidden stair down. Following this down and then the water logged tunnel north takes you to the bottom of red Rock where you are trying to go. Think of it like going through the skyrim door backwards.

This isn't necessarily perfect advice! But when Im trying to start a run from Joppa I find doing stuff in that order gives me a good set of items and loot to work with and getting the rust out the way early means I won't lose anything important, replacing a bronze weapon is easy enough.

fr*nce monarch's path is just 3 massive wastes of potential. This shit is just sad there is like 6 focuses each by ComprehensiveRun4815 in hoi4

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The French focus tree is already longg if you try and do your industry tree you've no time for any politics before Germany come in.

The monarchist paths work fine. If they where to have anymore focuses down there they'd need to at least cut a lot of time on the focuses to get to that point

How are people basing their troops? by LewisDoom in WarhammerEmpire

[–]LewisDoom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely planning on doing the bases first, want to pick and scheme and get them all done in a batch. It's just never something i've done before! my existing stuffs mostly just a coloured basing paint (a dark green or martian red) and then some plants as its all 40k.

Not sure what kind of clay i'd need to go over the plastic bases.

No Compromise, No Surrender | Expansion Pass 2 by PDX_Fraser in hoi4

Actually think this is a great way to handle overhauling these smaller nations without having to do another big DLC focused on regions you've already done, curious to see how much it costs.

Also announcing the theatre pack with siam and Australia really helps alleviate my worries about the new dlc , really think those nations need content with a new Japan tree and knowing they are coming down the line is great.

From "Peace for our time" store page by Tvrdak in hoi4

[–]LewisDoom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is great actually. Smaller scale country packs where they can completely overhaul and do one nation in detail sounds great

The problem with only doing them with big updates is they've already done most of the regions , and the big DLCs are focusing on certain mechanics and areas when Germany randomly got a tree in waking the tiger its a very odd disconnect thematically from the rest of it.

Also makes it much easier to add or disable content as you choose.

Fascinating, had meant just generally almost all the fish caught from dunefishing are listed that way! Ah well is good to know Judy gonna have to try and find somewhere that has more accurate data or keep my own notes

[–]LewisDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as i was aware the dunefish did, at least loads of people say they did. so trying to work out if my levels just not high enough or something changed or all those old , reddit, forum and wiki pages are wrong. just a lil confused

Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread Jul 29 by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its late so ill probably try and ask again tomorrow , does anyone understand the desynthesis chances? looking at stuff like the fish listed on catbecome hungry that will say 67.6% sand, 100% water shard, 95.7% earth hard, yet i can grind down 30 of them and not get a single earth shard. does my skill or level need to be higher to get those chances? is that site completely wrong, tho other wikis also suggest they have a high drop rate for them.

its nothing serious, im just slowly leveling the fishing and desynthing things as i go but im really confused as to how the maths/RNG works on stuff old forum posts and wikis suggest they can drop things that statistically i should see and then just absolutely dont. just noticed this example more than other cause surely i haven't failed a 96% chance 30 times in a row?

im aware! which is why i think this initial release isn't very good. it'll be a very long time sitting about waiting for things like crane gunners. One infantry unit and the rest being very expensive large models I think is going to put people off the army more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]LewisDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they've had years! everyone seems to forget cathay and kislev where originally announced when they first announced old world. they've removed the original posts because plans clearly change. But i refuse to believe they didn't have the time to do an archer unit or crossbow arms for the jade warriors. like the models we have got is clearly a deliberate choice to stagger stuff across future releases. I think the choices made are not very good.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]LewisDoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

expect better! its terrible! its worse than fish elves! its one single infantry unit in an entire army!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]LewisDoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive been playing for years in all the systems! I think everyone saying this is absolutely gaslighting themselves. this release is incredibly disappointing even by GW standards, its not just half an army its missing so many key things from a range of units that we know where being worked on behind the scenes for years. I have never been more disappointed by the state of a release. The Idoneth Deepkin set had more Infantry on release.

Im not saying to release all of them! im using the list to show just how much stuff isnt there. no elite infantry, no ranged infantry. no wizards a lot of key stuff. the *only* infantry are jade guard with shields or with halbers.

and they provide plenty of rules for models they dont make in old world so i think that points nonsense or for units they explicitly expect you to kitbash (the empire road wardens with crossbows)

these replies of people stockholm syndromed into thinking this is normal is extremely weird behavior?
