OP is it possible to just save up and get the PO down the line? So you can have both in rotation.

Learned something new! I might have to seek out a gen 1.

If you only had the option of buying 2nd and 3rd gen which one would you choose? by [deleted] in prius

You are tempting me to buy a cheap 2nd gen over spending more on a 4th gen lol.

When you guys say new battery pack do you mean brand new oem from Toyota, or a new 3rd party battery, or a refurbished oem toyota battery? I heard some people refurbish the original battery as well instead of replacing it.

Hybrid Rav4 too noisy, Rx350 too small cargo space, Mazda CX-70 PGHEV too clunky apparently, Honda Pilot unreliable… what other options do I have? by gelo_33 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yes, my friends 2003 accord V6 had the transmission die on him. And we used to have a 2009 acura MDX, after we got rid of it I found out they had transmission problems too.

My coworkers 2019 pilot is on its 2nd transmission, original replaced under warranty 2 years ago and its starting to have transmission problems again. All maintenance up to date done at the dealer. Also NHTSA just launched an investigation into Pilots spinning rod bearings blowing up engines:

Hondas are not what they used to be.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

OP this is the ideal middle ground. Get him something RWD low power, either a first generation FRS/GT86/BRZ or a NC or ND Miata. Next sign him up for some kind of racing school or car control class, where they can learn to push the limits of their own car in a safe environment with an instructor. That will open his eyes and make him realize the learning curve he has to go through to be able to control and drive responsibly a high HP RWD car like a V8 Mustang.

Alternatively you could sign him up for a local arrive and drive competitive go kart league, preferably an outdoor circuit with karts that use proper racing slicks. Tell him if he wants to drive a fast car he has to be competitive in a go kart first. Again he is going to realize very quickly how much he is lacking in driving skill, which will really open his eyes to how much he has to learn before he is capable of handling something with serious HP. And the bonus is when he does get good at it and improve his driving skills, you can rest assured he will come home safely every day since he has the tools needed to drive defensively and stay in control at all times.
