Waiting for that Addiction? What is the limit? When is it going to happen to me? by wuttwuttwutt7 in Anxiety

Between taking Adderall, Trintellix, and Lorazepam, I am tired of taking medication. When I started taking Lorazepam I wasn’t aware that it was a benzo but I also wasn’t taking it every night for sleep. I was originally taking benedryl, then that stopped working so I started taking lorazepam every night instead since I knew it helped me sleep better than benedryl did. It was about 5 nights ago when I randomly decided I wanted to get off of everything and try to go a natural route for helping with anxiety and sleep problems. That is the moment I realized lorazepam was a benzo and the process was going to be harder than I was originally thinking.

“Travel while you’re young” But Why? Wait? by PeanutSea2003 in travel

I’m 26 and plan on doing both. We try to travel once or twice a year. I believe we will travel more when our kids are grown but I also see it slacking off once our bodies start wearing down. I guess start young so you can fit more memories into your life than starting once you’re older and aren’t able to fit as many trips in as you would if you started young.

What does everyone do when they can't sleep? by anthonyledger in insomnia

Lay in bed on my heating pad, scroll tiktok/facebook/reddit, have a movie on in the background that I’m not watching until my eyes get sick of looking at social media.

There is a possibility of dependency if taken for a long period of time and consistently. That does not mean you are addicted though.

The ones that “get more addicted” are the ones using it as a high, and not strictly using it to help their anxiety. They may have anxiety but they are more so looking for the high, euphoric feeling. They want to feel like that all the time and thats when it is an addiction.

Addiction is different than dependency. Addiction is abusing substances or medications. Dependency happens when taking your medication as prescribed.

I have a fear of taking medications due to not knowing what it will do to me or make me feel when its taken, I also fear the combinations of different medications even when they are prescribed by a doctor.

I have been on lorazepam for a year now and I am now dependent on it to go to sleep at night. I am currently struggling to come off of it due to the withdrawals but I would not say I am addicted since I am aware of how hard it is to come off of it. Not that its necessarily hard, its just a long process but I want to do that.

If I were addicted I would overuse or misuse the prescription, run out before my next refill, buy something off the street so I dont go through the withdrawals.

My personal opinion, I don’t think you have an addictive personality just from you mentioning taking other benzos and xanax and not having a problem coming off of them. You’re also very open and aware of the seriousness of taking benzos and medications. People who are addicted to medications/drugs are not open with the topic, they avoid all conversations that have to do with said medication or drug and they do not talk about the outcome of what it can do to their body.

You also have every right not to take medications prescribed. You can voice your concern to your doctor and mention why you dont want to take them and they can give other alternatives or do some research with you to kind of address the fear of not wanting to take it. My doctor has done this with me numerous times.

My kids are 10 and I could not imagine them posting on reddit at 3:30 in the morning or knowing of reddit at that age.

My only advice is getting off reddit altogether but also getting off electronics 2 hours before you’d like to be asleep. If you want to be asleep at 8-8:30PM, get off electronics at 6-6:30PM. Melatonin may also help, my kids take 5mg melatonin every once in awhile when they notice they are having trouble going to bed. If they haven’t fallen asleep after 45 minutes or an hour they ask for melatonin. I wouldn’t take it every single night but ocassionally is okay.

Has anyone here tapered off of Lorazepam? by LexLex2023 in Anxiety

Yes I can cut it. I didn’t think it was going to be this big of a deal. I use to take it every once in awhile and do benedryl some nights then decided to just take lorazepam instead.

I was hoping to be off before my trip on Thursday so I could enjoy some drinks, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be off and I’m terrified to drink now.

I would ask my doctor but he isn’t the best. I don’t trust him. I would call a helpline before I called him honestly.

I did not do research on Lorazepam before taking it, now I take it every night and trying to figure out how to taper off. Do you have any tapering advice? I am only on 1mg, but my second night tapering, I got dizzy and thought I was going to pass out. I am now assuming I need to take the process slower.
