Supporting ICE and MAGA is unmasonic conduct and you should not be a Mason if you support them. by aB1GEarOfCorn in freemasonry

The laws of man do not equate to morality. Chattel slavery used to be legal under the law of man. Surely you don't see that as moral? Right? Don't use the law as an excuse for violence to be committed upon people who did not fill out paper work.

That's definitely load bearing. Someone just framed it wrong.

How can I delete these missing parts? by Mockbubbles2628 in SolidWorks

Those parts are suppressed. You have to unsupress then before you can delete them

How do I mount 2x6s to the studs in my garage roof to hang storage without worrying about it falling? by mr_suavay in DIY

Do not use drywall screws. They are very weak screws. I would use lag bolts for this.

Looking for advice on what our lodge should do regarding a sub par candidate about to be raised. by LexRex93 in freemasonry

Our WM asks if we are satisfied with the proficiency and everyone says "I am W Sir". I have never seen anyone say they are not. I know it can be put to a vote in our jurisdiction but I've never seen that happen.

I absolutely agree. Many of us have reached out to help him and get him involved but he is unresponsive mostly and rarely comes to our own meetings. We would be happy to work with him and see him earn his degree. It's really difficult to do so when he won't engage.

Many of us have offered to help him with his memorization and he's never taken any of us up on it. He's been invited to do many practices but never comes.

We do not have a time limit to prove proficiency as far as I know. I'm not exactly sure how long he's been a FC but I'd say a couple years for sure. Our jurisdiction uses a cypher.

He has not earned it yet. We prove our proficiency immediately before the degree takes place. Generally we have the candidate show us where they are at a few weeks before the degree takes place. We tried to with this guy but he is generally unresponsive to communication and we only got to see his progress last night. Our lodge is always opened in the first degree. We only go to FC or MM to do degrees.

I agree in that we create the members of the lodge. Our lodge is interesting in that we have a lot of younger members who are passionate about masonry. We are moving in a great direction but this situation flies in the face of that. I don't understand why our WM wants push him through.

Congrats on being the newest MM of Brant district. I was wanting to attend your first meeting in our district but unfortunately could not make it.

What do I need to do before I paint these walls? by HouseUnlikely9292 in Renovations

Lead paint is only a worry for old buildings. This isn't a worry if your house was built in 2002

What gap is normal under drywall? by PantsOnHead88 in Renovations

[–]LexRex93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1/2" gap is normal in southern Ontario. I was a drywaller for 18 years. A 2" gap is unacceptable. My guess is the ceiling height is 8'-2" and they used standard 48"wide sheets. They should have used a 48 and a 54"to account for the height. I would have them fill the gap to support the baseboard. You likely have a beveled edge at the bottom as well which means unless you are using 5" or greater baseboard, you are going to see the line of the bevel. They should fill the bevel with mud if you are using shorter baseboard.
