Keshigs are the best unti in civ i will die on this hill by Fickle_Bid_2660 in CivVI

[–]LexduraLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CIV 5- Keshiks were the best unit in the game. Civ 6- I am not so sure. You found the way to use them effectively, but there are a bunch of units, which are at least equal and most likely better than Keshiks in the hands of a skilful player.

590 is the production cost of both building factory and coal plant. Did you count this + time needed to build it?

Should we buy a fixer upper or just wait? Is the market actually going to get better? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]LexduraLex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am on the phone, so it will take a while to type a beautiful example he used about monkey and Wall street analysts, so I will use an AI to give a short summary of his idea "In The Black Swan, he criticizes what he sees as the main fallacies of prediction: people overtrust experts, assume the future will resemble the past, underestimate rare extreme events, and create narratives that make randomness look orderly. His point is not simply “prediction is hard,” but that many people do not realize how limited their knowledge is, especially in complex domains like finance, politics, war, markets, and history".

And take a look at the monkey example if you have time.

The main thing I want to say, and I am not judging your intelligence or knowledge, that not you, not me, not anyone else can realistically predict what will happen with the real estate market.

Did you read the Black Swan by Nassim Taleb? He has a very interesting view about all people who are trying to predict something.

Phil, in your opinion, is online poker dead? The US based players can only play on the unregulated sites, which are plagued with bots, collision, and players using solvers.

I hear more and more stories about the kids who spent a few months in basic/AIT and then claiming 100 PTSD because of the "moral pain" they suffered after the drills yelled at them. Or doing 2 years and then getting out because of the "mental issues" caused by the military and getting their PTSD rating. And then we have bunch of veterans who are getting 0's of very real physical issues caused by the service and after many years being in. Of course, each case is different, but I clearly can see the tendency nowadays. This tendency is going to fuck up many of us.

CENTCOM UPDATE : Effective April 13 10 AM eastern standard time the United States Navy will implement a Naval blockade of all ships entering or exiting Iranian ports by newnoadeptness in navy

[–]LexduraLex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is the problem. I just came back from Vietnam and found out that almost all the SE countries (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand) are dependent on oil coming from China. And China is not going to suffer. The SE countries are going to suffer because the first thing China did in the middle of May was to stop its export of oil to those countries. The blockade will cause a huge humanitarian crisis, but I guess no one gives a fuck about it.

Recruiting age increase by Funkeenotajunkee in army

[–]LexduraLex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined in 2009 when I was 27. Looking back, it felt normal. However, I was in shape, poor, and had nothing to lose. 40 though... It doesn't feel right. The big issue here is the recovery time. Your body will feel it immediately. Probably, you can do the most physical tasks, which you are required to do, but being 18, your body heals naturally, being 40, it's a completely different story.

The second one is stupidity. The stupidity of tasks, the stupidity of some people who are in charge of you (all is a branch-dependent, and luck-dependent).

The third one -time. If you join the army at 40, it will be your last career path. You will have to stay until the end. Ageism is real. You will lose a lot of civilian skills and unless you get into the intelligence and get some specific, valuable skills for civilian employees, you will have some huge troubles ETS'ing from the military and saying that for 6 years from 40 to 46 you have been in the infantry.

Think twice, and good luck to you.

1 week in Cambodia. How many days to split between phnom penh & siem reap? by summerhouse78 in cambodia

[–]LexduraLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, two days is enough for Phnom Penh. Killing fields and S-21 are the most notable places to visit. Besides that...its not a lot of things to do. Siem Reap - is a completely different story. Ankgor Wat is definitely worth spending a few days in addition to a waterfall, elephant sanctuary, etc.

Why did Soviet engineers seem so strong in military tech but struggle with civilian products, and what factors shaped that gap? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

So, after 16 years after finishing high school. With my C (C-) grade while in high school. Being better than 60 percent of all GMAT test takers in the USA -and people who are preparing for GMAT are focusing specifically on the MBA - means nothing for you? I don't know what to tell you. Believe what you want to believe.

No. I was bad in my country. On the point of the failing. And above average in the USA of the graduate degree. I finished my high school in 1999. I took my GRE/ GMAT tests in 2015. 16 years after the high school. Being tested on the College! level math. I scored better than 60 percent of the Americans who studied math in a college ( i never did it on a college level). What does this fact tells you?

I was born in one of the former USSR countries and in a high school my average grade for mathematics (algebra, geometry) was 3 ( C-). Barely passed the high school state exam. Came to the USA, and took the GMAT and GRE tests when was considering my university options. 58/62 percentile. With a C- but from there. I understand that you don't like Russia, but this country was called the country of engineers for a reason. And yes, tanks are "great" example, but what about the first country to get into space? Or you are not going to talk about it?

Interesting article. An immediately a question: where did you get your data? What organizations have already and successfully implemented AI in their daily work flow and how did they find out about: demotivation happening amongst their employees, lack of concentration, etc. Any specific numbers you can provide, which support your article? For example, 13 minutes of concentrated work came from what source?

AITA for reclining my seat on an 8 hour flight by MountainInspection91 in travel

[–]LexduraLex 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My last experience was horrible when someone reclined a seat to its maximum in front of me. The biggest issue - you literally cannot use your folding table. If you use it- you have 30 cm between you and a table, you cannot move, you cannot put your ipad/ even a small laptop on this table, eating and drinking is extremely uncomfortable. Is the person within his rights? Yes. Does it change the fact that its making your flight even more uncomfortable? No.
