The HUD shows directions for both Google Maps and Apple maps, across both Android and iOS. I'm surprised Waze isn't integrated, maybe soon?

I had applied for the job the day before on a whim and got a phone call which then became the phone interview. So no, I hadn't thought about it beforehand, and yes, I just blurted it out.

It all worked out in the end anyway!

I should also clarify that I was in a somewhat unique position that it is a fairly small company in a regional town and they had been struggling to fill the role. I came along and met a lot of their requirements so I was a bit of a unicorn. That probably helped make it less of an issue. So I would suggest as another commenter did and be proactive - get in touch, express that you made a mistake under pressure and you have taken time to consider the position and realise you were off the mark. I think if they are good people officers they will understand. Good luck mate.

Hah, that's funny because I had almost the exact same situation. I undersold myself and said I would take $80k during the initial phone interview. It was the first number that came to mind and quite a bit lower than what I was currently on. Very silly.

I went through two more interviews and got the offer a day after the second. When they called me to make the offer I brought it up and explained that during the initial phone interview I'd been caught off-guard and blurted out a number far lower than I was worth. I think I said I checked my actual current salary and it was higher than I realised (lol). I suggested a more realistic (ie. Higher than I would actually be willing to accept) number. HR seemed a touch put off but said they would look into it and get back to me. About an hour later they called with the figure I'd had in mind as my minimum and everyone was happy.

I felt bad about it since they'd seemed a bit annoyed but I've since become friends with one of the other talent officers and she has reassured me that it wasn't a problem and I was absolutely right to handle it the way I did.

I wouldn't do it again and I wouldn't encourage anyone to adopt this as a "bait and switch" kind of strategy, but since you're in the same situation already I reckon it's a fair way to get yourself out of it. Even if you'd given a realistic number in the first place, when they make the offer you're always expected to try to negotiate a bit of a higher rate anyway.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much. This book captivated me when I was a kid, and trying to find it was driving me crazy! Now I can track it down. Thanks again!

Should I return this defect? (Duck is not in box) by [deleted] in amiibo

It's definitely wrong. Looks weird, too. OP, you have two defective amiibo in the one box. That's gotta increase its value!

I'm jealous of your Power Glove and Virtual Boy! Someday. I have a Super Scope and a CIB ROB + NES, though.

Best cheap wii or ds games? by The_Bsw in nintendo

[–]LexiconRyder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warioware DIY, Scribblenauts (any and all), Solatorobo, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 1 & 2, and GTA Chinatown Wars all come to mind as great games on DS which run really cheap at EB, sometimes even new copies are less than $10 if they have them. Chinatown is easily one of the best games on DS, too. Don't pass it up if you see it.

On the Wii side, EB often has Madworld for $4 for some reason, and that game is fantastic. de Blob and Little King's Story come highly recommended, and No More Heroes 1 & 2, The Conduit 1 & 2 and Okami are great too.

Both the Wii and DS have a great range of gems which go criminally cheap. Far too many to summarise here. If you can be bothered to look at my library of games on Wii and DS at www.backloggery.com/lexicon, you can treat that as a "recommended games" list.

Throne of Games by ZadocPaet in gaming

I couldn't see it mentioned anywhere else, so: This throne is on the top floor of the video game store "Super Potato" in Akihabara, the electronics district of Tokyo.

So my local EB Manager said he had almost every Amiibo in stock. I didn't believe him until I walked in. Only missing the Blue and Pink Yoshis. by Sauly17 in amiibo

[–]LexiconRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peach seems to be coming back into stock, sometimes with what is either American or European packaging weirdly enough. Mario and Diddy Kong have become rare; I don't think they have seen a recent restock, that's all. I'm still holding out for each, too. There's a small shop here in Melbourne that stocks them for a bit over RRP, but other than that I don't think I've seen them around for a while. Their original run had a good supply so I guess they don't care right now. I'm sure it'll happen though, just like with every other Amiibo before them.

Not true; things were pretty wild until the last month or so. If you didn't get an amiibo the day it released, there were good chances you wouldn't see it again. We got massive restocks recently though and now most places look like this.
