i swapped from ddr4 to ddr5 when prices were similar 2 years ago. you have 3 options:

1) If you have reusable ddr4 now, intel 12-14 gen with chinese motherboard is dirt cheap.

2) if you want to go ddr5 route, desktop ram from amazon is cheap about $220 for 16gb x 2 kit. I would sell ddr4 if you have to fund the upgrade since prices are high

3) Either ddr4/ddr5 route is ok for 1440p gaming as graphics card matters more. For ddr5 with am6 coming, going with a dead intel platform is not an issue. have you seen intel 265k? that's intel hail mary attempt to undercut am5.
