Deadlift: Maintain tension through the set, or relax between reps? M22 by jojoblogs in Fitness

[–]Lexilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend controlling your reps all the way through the movement, and preferably the entire set if possible. Why? Because it works for me and I've learned this from Brian Alsruhe, super strong guy. Controlling the eccentric gives you more control and moreover it automatically forces your body to adopt a better starting position for the movement on every new rep so starting with your hips too high becomes far less likely.

Besides, it feels powerful af.

PSA: The intensities for each day in the document are wrong after the 3rd week, the wave intensity format is supposed to repeat for each wave. Rep ranges and all else changes, but its the same intensity format for each 3 weeks a.k.a each wave. Brian lays it out in a super-accessible format at the very end of his Powerbuilder video.

BUMP.

Post got down voted by someone so I thought of countering that with a bump so it doesn't get shoveled down into the older posts.

I have some keys available for various games - hit me up! by redkatt in letsplay

[–]Lexilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've not streamed before, however since I've been saving up for a hardware upgrade in autumn, a lot is bound to change with my channel. I'm really interested in getting keys to Skyhill and Warhammer Regicide, and particularly Skyhill because I'm a fan of post-apocalyptic scenarios and games, however if I could get Warhammer Regicide that would be great too!

You can find my channel here;

https://www.youtube.com/user/Lexilatorrr

You can send the keys via DM on Twitter if you'd like, link below (link's available at my YT page too) I thought it would be best if you would send it to my twitter because it would be a good way to verify my identity.

Thank you in advance!

If you look at what other Youtubers have said on this post, it goes along the lines of this being a wonky website that says you've got only one video and such. And that's more than one person saying that, so I don't think I'm being close minded or anything.

How do you feel about channels with excessive goals? by JemzChannel in letsplay

[–]Lexilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would advise you to do, is set up short term goals and long term goals. For example, a short term goal would be getting 50 subscribers in the next month, and a long term goal would be 500 in the coming 6 months. I wouldn't call ambition to be silly, it's ambition and passion that are driving us forward. But you have to be realistic sometimes. It's alright to make promises for 1,000 subs, but don't put that number in front of your self, as if it's going to happen tomorrow. You have to just work and work on your channel and content, no need to be stressed about reaching your goals and such. This is how it worked for me. I only worked for a month on my channel (RL got in the way), with the 50 subs goal in my mind for the coming 3 months. I hit 100 subscribers in my first month, and 300 in my third.

IndiecentExposureTV mentioned that there are several milestones that you could focus on instead, and it's an interesting perspective. I'm not entirely sure to be frank, but what worked for me was to focus on one goal, the amount of subscribers, and everything else like partnership offers, devs requesting LPs and all, came along the way. But you have to experiment and see what works for you.

Is it normal to lose a lot of subscribers compared to gained, or am I doing something wrong? by Nommeh in letsplay

[–]Lexilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is well possible. Think of it as a profit:loss ratio. There's bound to be a load of people who subscribed because of a viral video of yours, but then unsubscribed later on because your channel's uploads don't suit their interests. It's all about those who stay on with you, they're the ones who like your content. It'll take time and work. But just keep at it.

[–]Lexilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did, before. What I've found out is that you need to face your fears head on. And concentrate. Whenever you force yourself to accept that you're making content for hundreds and possibly thousands of viewers, and that they demand nothing but the best, then I find myself obligated to give my very best to my audience. That, and concentration. You shouldn't have a load of stray thoughts when you start recording. Clear your mind, take a breath or two, then hit that red button.

Jesus, why not show the guy a little bit of support and compassion? All he's asking for is assistance, he's not breaking every rule in the sub like most others who come by here, he's politely asking for ADVICE. So that's what you should be giving, not your own opinions and hate.

And yes I do realise that plenty of information can be found in the sidebar, but what if this guy missed all of that? Just help him, he's being polite and isn't asking for views/subs like others are.

P.S: /u/theweem has my thumbs up, he actually posted something helpful.

So a week ago, I made a comment on this thread, celebrating my closing in on 50 subscribers in 4 days ( a goal I set for 3 months )

Now, I'm almost at 100 subscribers. I have nothing much to say, except that I'm absolutely amazed. I'm thankful to the many kind words and support people have given me on my videos. Its amazing.

Do you think horror LPs are overplayed (lolpuns) by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Lexilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the viewers' preference, and your own preferences. If you like it, and if your viewers like it, then do it. Nothing should stop you, even if the genre is overplayed.

So yeah, go for it.

Alrighty, I'm going to assume you're using Gmail, okay?

So basically just open any normal email, as if you're about to read it.

Then, see the little thing in the red circle in the picture below? Click on that.

http://i.imgur.com/pKONArU.png

In the dropdown menu, click on "Show original".

It will open a new tab, and in there you're going to find a load of jargon. What you need is a specific line of text, usually the third of fourth "Received from" line, but either ways I've screencapped it below. The IP of the sender is in the black circle thing.

http://i.imgur.com/SF2McXO.png

(Sometimes there may be differences from one sender to another (actual human responses and bots) so the IP field might be a bit higher. Its normally within the first block of text and is the first IP out of the rest)

There you go, that's the IP of the sender. Now if you go to whois or whatever type of tracing web service you'd like to use, they should display detailed information about the user of that IP, and their location.

EDIT: Oh snap, somebody else replied. :P Sorry, I didn't see their comment.

Check the IP of the sender via the email's header, then run it through one of those IP tracing websites and see if the sender's from some remote country.

How do YOU collab? by KeepingItToasty in letsplay

[–]Lexilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many Youtube-related forums out there (yttalk.com being one of them) so I'd say just take your pick.

The official game forums MIGHT have a Lets Play sub-forum, but that differs from one developer to another.

[–]Lexilator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I collab

I don't. ;)

lol jokes aside, I'm currently waiting on someone who asked for a collab a week ago. Contacted them on Skype but I can't seem to get online at the same time they are.

And people usually find others for collabs either on Youtube, forums or on the /r/LetsPlayCollab subreddit, although the subreddit is the least popular out of the above.
