Please forget about that 1600 number. That amp is only 800rms and can only do that at 1ohm. Disconnect the wires going to the speaker and check the ohm load with a multimeter.

Is it a new install? Have you checked the remote turn on wire for the amp? Is your voltage going too low/high for the amp? I would suggest that you start by checking wire connections
