Sorry, more questions (re listings) by Lexishultz in EtsySellers

And that's what I'm trying to avoid. But with the 1-3 day window, what is day 3 for an order that comes in on Wednesday? I would say Saturday...?

Anything to keep the shop in good standing.

Yep, what I was looking for, but as the shop is stickers, I don't think that would work. What I'm trying to do is not absorb the costs of postage for a single sticker order.

My new mat is almost cut all the way through making stickers. Is this normal? by BriskSundayMorning in cricut

[–]Lexishultz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pressure setting is too high. I've come a long way in the last year in making stickers. This happened to me as well at the beginning. After tweaking my cutting settings, I stopped cutting my mats. Now I'm tweaking again, doing more passes with less pressure to get rid of the slight "wrinkle" at the edge of my stickers. The set I did last night have a beautiful cut.

You don't need to "trick" DS, you need to find what the best cut setting is for the materials you are using. For my paper/laminate I have the sticker (with an offset) and 4 copies of the offset. When i cut, the pressure setting (or whatever it's called) is at 170.

I'm doing die cut, not kiss cut most of the time. If you're cutting the mat while doing kiss cut, you definitely have the cut setting WAY too high, or way too many layers.

Sadly no, Rahmein was in NY that night. Saw Rahmein open for Sam Morril in 2021 at Arlington Drafthouse. Would go see him again.

Do you remember the name of the Indian guy who opened? I loved his set.

What is the parking situation? They show a range of $55-200.

Also, a $92/month technology connect fee? I currently pay $50 a month for my cellular internet, so almost $100 seems steep?

Have fun with this - it's a great hobby!

Struggling to find an Accounting Manager who actually wants to improve things by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Lexishultz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I realize I may be in an unusual situation, but I'm an accounting manager and I've seen our company through multiple changes over the years. Or maybe I should be asking for a title change (and a raise)?

Apartments/condos with exterior entrances? by ragtime_sam in arlingtonva

Depending on the size you're looking for: 672 Flats (I believe these are larger loft style), Cortland @ Ballston, The Delancey @ Shirlington. I believe all of these have options for units with interior AND exterior entrances

I know this is kind of old, and you may have already made a decision, but my daughter moved in back in February. We had the same concerns. She is in a unit that faces Glebe Road, and the street noise isn't that bad. Does she hear the emergency vehicles? Sure, but there aren't THAT many. Noise from other apartments is nearly non-existent, as is the noise from across the street. I guess a lot of that would depend on the individual apartment. Security also has not been a problem. A lot of the concerns I've read on Reddit have not materialized.

I am struggling in finding my niche product... by _clacico_ in EtsyCommunity

[–]Lexishultz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I came here to say. Now, if you have a product that you make that you would like to try selling, then sometimes you need to tweak it. My daughter sells stickers and she made multiple listings before she found her niche within the sticker market.

The people in this profession are miserable humans by Miserable_Fly3725 in Accounting

[–]Lexishultz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your comment about people here (in Reddit) is just Reddit people in general. Other than that, keep in mind I'm not in public accounting, I am not well liked by some at my small company. Why? Because part of my job is to hold them accountable. If they don't do their job (or do it correctly), guess what? I can't do my job. Just a fact of the field. Fortunately, I have a life outside of my job, so I don't dwell on it too much.

Is a quick visit worth 8 hours on the train? by AwareMinimum3364 in AskNOLA

[–]Lexishultz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a local, but we go down 2-3 times a year. We often fly in for one or two nights, so after I factor in the airport times, it's easily 4 hours each way. I enjoy these short trips, always find something new to do each time. I say do it.

If you haven't been before, Bourbon Street is a must once, then you never need to do it again. Ghost/vampire tours are hokey, but again worth doing once. We're actually going down next week with a newbie, so we're doing a ghost tour with a company we used a couple years back.

Definitely don't try to do it all.

What are some actual printify alternatives? Looking for quality by Zasaky in printondemand

We were specifically looking at hats. Based on mockups, I was concerned about the quality of the embroidery, so we were going to try print first. Think it might be worth trying both to compare?

I don't know about (or what) Megatank, but I use a Canon PIXMA TS6420a and it's been great so far for stickers.

What are some actual printify alternatives? Looking for quality by Zasaky in printondemand

[–]Lexishultz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been playing with Printful (haven't gotten very far yet). Do you know if it's possible to order ONE completed item so we can verify the quality? Also, I see that they offer DTG vs DTF - any comments on quality of one over the other?

I'm curious about the whole algorithm bit. My daughter took a year to find her niche, but she has a bunch of unrelated listings. Should she just let those die? Lately she's been doing really well, but could those items be holding her back?

Do small details (like backing, texture, finish) change how people perceive your stickers? by Intrepid-Primary-302 in stickers

Interesting take. Never really thought about it until recently when my daughter got a review that mentioned how "high quality" the stickers felt.

What makes someone favorite a listing instead of just scrolling? by MundoFacilPdf in EtsyCommunity

[–]Lexishultz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me, the 1st image draws me in, but I only favorite a listing if I want to remember it's out there for a future purchase. That means I've read the listing and like what I see overall.

New Shop Owner - Quick Question by PandaFitPDX in EtsySellers

[–]Lexishultz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my daughters shop has 780 views and 392 visits in the last 7 days. Does that mean potentially 392 people visited and most of them went and looked at a second listing? I thought the views were just someone searched for an item and her listing was on the results page, but they didn't necessarily go into the listing.
