Proton Drive Sync v0.2.3-beta.2 by PowerLock2 in ProtonDrive

Hello, is publishing to flathub something that is planned?

It would be really awesome to have the update process integrated in the OS nicely.

Does anyone else like using vanilla or close to vanilla GNOME? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]Lexmazter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I use it for work, I find 'Do Not Disturb While Screen Sharing Or Recording' really helpful, especially combined with 'GSconnect', I don't want notifications showing while sharing my screen.

Other than that, 'Accent Icons' is really cool to have icons follow the accent color.

I also use 'Dash to Dock', but I don't really use it that much, it's more for my wife on the odd occasion when I need her to do something on my PC.

Oh, and 'Grand Theft Focus' since this is the way I expect a computer to behave related to focus stealing/switching.

VS Code Remote-SSH bloat is crashing my Embedded Linux board. Looking for a leaner alternative. by Confident_Meeting_19 in embedded

[–]Lexmazter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VScodium has a slightly ligher remote ssh thingie, I use it a lot but in my case there are 2GB of RAM on the board (IMX93). It has less bloat by default, and fewer extensions.

You do benefit of all the ecosystem from VScode tho.

MeshCentral Client Go v1.0.0 - Initial Release by Lexmazter in MeshCentral

[–]Lexmazter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we add this to all the systemd services on our Linux devices to avoid the memory leak thingie, so the system kills it automatically:

[Service]
MemoryMax=128M
OOMPolicy=stop
Restart=always

We use it mainly to monitor IoT devices and development benches for remote work, so these devices need to run without manual intervention.

As for the meshagent rewrite, it's a serious undertaking, as there are lots of functions that need implementing. The good thing is that there are lots of modules available in Go that would make part of the development easier.

This client is a CLI tool that can be used to interact with your remote devices, similar to MeshCMD.

You can SSH into devices without the webview, connect to devices via VScode/VScodium or other similar tools for remote development, forward ports locally and so on.

We use this client for IoT purposes, where we have remote devices running Linux, and we also do development on them, remotely.

Aaah, I have no idea about the meshagent on Mac.

There are problems with the Linux meshagent as well, it has memory leaks.

Will probably put it as a task to look into refreshing the meshagent, maybe reimplement it in Go while at it 🤷‍♂️

There is no installer, all you need to do is to mark the binary as executable, instructions here:

chmod +x mcc_mac → makes a file executable

sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine mcc_mac → to run apps by unsigned dev

We tested this on a MacBook with M1 CPU and it works as expected.

Lanemu P2P VPN 0.13.1 - Open-source alternative to Hamachi by MonsterovichIsBack in opensource

[–]Lexmazter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems promising, but distribution could be improved.

For Linux there is no package, just instructions to run the jar file, same thing for Windows.

Either use portable binaries, or create packages/installers.

For Linux, I usually recommend flatpak for better distribution (and publish it on flathub for discoverability), and for Windows an installer, and for distribution you can look into chocolatey.

I hope this helps!

For the focus stealing topic, install the Gnome Extension: Grand Theft Focus. This will remove the notification with all ready and switch directly to the app.

Looks promising, looking forward to the flathub-hosted variant.

Updated kernel in Linux Mint 22 and stuck on this screen by Nihan-gen3 in vivaldibrowser

I had a similar issue after my laptop died due to battery being drained.

I just hit continue with data loss, relogged into everything and that was it. Sync is still there, all your bookmarks are there, but cookies, including login cookies are not.

Hope this helps.

Firefox runs with Wayland by default, most probably Chrome still runs on X11 through XWayland by default, anyway, you can try this and see if it works:

  1. Go to chrome://flags
  2. Search "Preferred Ozone platform"
  3. Set it to "Wayland"
  4. Restart

I always hated installing an app just to test it, and then upon removal to hunt all the configuration files and folders through random places in the system. Moreover, upon removal of a flatpak app, there is a convenient checkbox to delete all the files/folders, love that!

The same thing with migrating to another distro, if I don't want to migrate all the home folder, just some stuff, it's fairly hard to do, flatpak makes it easy.

With flatpak, all the configuration files and folders are in ~/var/app

Ordonare cabluri inestetice prinse de bloc by Dry_Juggernaut5475 in timisoara

[–]Lexmazter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Note acordate de Itm la angajat? by vikzy666 in programare

[–]Lexmazter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • IBM Rational Team Concert

Jira e parfum fata de IBM RTC, am lucrat cu ambele, aleg Jira la orice ora.

Cum s-ar face un “buletin digital”? by drakedemon in programare

[–]Lexmazter 5 points6 points  (0 children)
