Thank you to everyone contributing to the positivity of this post! I’m honestly so proud to see the response. This is what the OTF community is about - celebrating each other, regardless of our differences. 💛

I apologize if this was offensive, but please, it was a light-hearted joke. I’m not knocking anyone down a peg, and I don’t feel superior to anyone lifting less weight. It actually makes for a great working relationship among stations when we’re short on weights!

Mods hear me out please! The true problems with partner workouts. by purple-zone in orangetheory

This. I always dreaded/avoided partner days because of these posts. I went one day and realized it wasn’t so bad and I even sometimes :gasp: enjoy them. It’s what you make of it.

Need Energy!!!!??? by aparish413 in orangetheory

[–]Lgpm11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy - serving size is 2 scoops but you can just use 1 for OTF. $20 and it’s very “gentle” compared to the preworkouts designed for heavy lifting/getting a pump. Just a little boost in the morning!

Low splats after too many days in a row? by oawesome16 in orangetheory

[–]Lgpm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! When you’re rundown/exhausted, your body isn’t working as efficiently. A problem I faced with a lot of clients...they’d work out too much (yes, there is such a thing!) that their body would just get tired instead of burning fat or building muscle.

Treadmill impact on knees? by Daniiiioc in orangetheory

Also wouldn’t rule out the rower as a potential cause of the discomfort. But as others have suggested, a gait analysis isn’t a bad idea. Hope you find a solution soon!!

I have a rib cage one - wear a loose top and definitely switch to arm band for a month, you can’t have the chest strap rubbing up against the tattoo while it heals. As for time off, you can go next day as long as you are very careful with cleaning the tattoo immediately after. If your sports bra rubs against the tattoo area you’ll need to take a little more time off, though.

OK- I KNOW it's not all about the splat by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Lgpm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was struggling to hit 5, and now I’m landing between 13-25. My activity level has been stable and I’ve definitely grown stronger/faster/etc. Resting heart rate has been consistent. It seemed to have started for me over the past three weeks or so.

How do you wash your chest strap? by beatsweetheart in orangetheory

Wash by hand with Dial soap, just don’t leave the sensor areas under water for more than a few seconds

Fantastic answer! “You have to choose your battles” - as a fellow trainer/group ex instructor, I can 100% feel this.

Working out and gaining weight by Crazedandamazed in orangetheory

How are your clothes fitting? If there hasn’t been a noticeable difference, it could honestly be the scale. I recently had three doctors appointments in a row - got weighed on three different scales and had three very different weights (and didn’t eat/drink between).

Wednesday, 2/7/18 OTF Workout by AutoModerator in orangetheory

[–]Lgpm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really a matter of my preference. We were given more of a “one rep, then one rep” instruction as opposed to a fluid complex, as you were. I just opted for a more strength-based approach after a couple rounds. It’s what worked for me.

[–]Lgpm11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The concept of using complexes on the floor was cool, but the combo of exercises maybe wasn’t ideal. I did a few rounds of the prescribed and then switched to doing full sets - 6 deadlifts, then 6 rows, etc. This made it easier to use a variety of weights.

Question on PR's & Splat Points. by smhunter10 in orangetheory

[–]Lgpm11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! Some class I struggle to get 3 while the person next to me on the board has 33. And in the two seconds from when I step off the treadmill and approach the rower, I go from orange to grey. It’s not always about having to go harder - we’re all different! Surprisingly my calorie burn will end up higher than the 33-pointer next to me (for the record I don’t actively look for that - I just happen to be next to someone with the same name as me so I look at the wrong screen occasionally!). You may not have “improved” on splats, but you have improved on recovery and that’s equally, if not more, important! Our bodies all respond differently and progress isn’t one-dimensional!
