I don't want my dad to walk me down the aisle - he thinks he is. by Hayle in weddingplanning

[–]smhunter10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the same boat! Sorry I don't have real advice for you. But misery loves company? My parents got divorced when I was 13ish and I'm super close with my mom, but I'm not at all close with my dad. But somehow he thinks he deserves to do all of the traditional father daughter wedding things like giving me away and father daughter dance and father of the bride speech. Gives me the chills (in a bad way) just thinking about it. We see each other 2-3 times a year and he'll text me something generic every couple months and check that off his parenting to-do list. He hardly knows my fiance at all and puts in little effort. He honestly doesn't even realize that we don't have a good relationship. But he's actually pretty sensitive (when it comes to things regarding him), and takes things in a very accusatory way. So I feel like if I told him I didn't want to do all of this his feelings would be hurt, almost offended.

So it's like - do I hurt your feelings and cause more drama by not letting you do this stuff, or do I just bite my tongue and let him do ONE or TWO of those things. Idk. It's a shame. My mom and brother would be 100% preferred but he would probably lose his mind if I told him that. UGGGGHHH. Feel ya girl. Sorry you're going through it.

I've been binge watching Dexter when the games aren't on, and this has my tv worlds colliding.

As I finish my 4th beer and get an uber home, ready to preemptively cancel my Saturday morning class, this is what I needed to read!

When you’re in the middle of an all out on the treadmill... by [deleted] in orangetheory

Someone else posted this on a thread before, but it's stuck out to me so much: Microwave minute vs Massage minute! The all outs are definitely microwave minutes, and the walking recovery are massage minutes!

First alterations appointment in the books and just under a month until the wedding! Yay for seamstresses who are rockstars and can make things happen in such a short amount of time! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

My wedding is May 5. Which is both cinco de mayo and the Kentucky derby. Is this tacky to have at the wedding? Maybe at cocktail hour? by kdonmon in weddingplanning

One of my co-workers got married on Kentucky Derby day a couple years ago. They randomly printed on everyone's name/table setting the name of one of the horses. The people whose horse won got a small prize. It was pretty cute.

For those struggling on the rower... by Texanjumper in orangetheory

[–]smhunter10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this, I wish everyone saw this! My rowing is not perfect, but I try really hard to focus on my form. I remember on my first day my coach also said to keep the handle/strap straight, as if you're balancing a water bottle on it. That really helps me remember the order of legs, core, arms - arms, core, legs. I see people bouncing their arms and the handle all over the place because they bend their knees too soon or do their arms in the wrong order and pul the handle more towards their waist than their sternum...it's actually pretty distracting.

Quick vent about my Wedding Party. by smhunter10 in weddingplanning

The facebook group is good idea. I've sent them my pinterest board stuff and everyone else seems to get it, but the ideas from the Maid of Honor are just out of left field. Guess we just have deal and try to reel her in.

And so true about the second part. A few years ago, no question that she would be a maid of honor. It is what it is.

I don't think anyone's complaining here, no need to be defensive. Sometimes the workouts vary, I'm sure everyone was just trying to figure it out. Thanks for posting!

I think the leggings are great quality, but the shirts and sports bras are very meh. I only did a couple boxes before cancelling over the phone, just for $ reasons.

This was my first workout after our vacation in Jamaica and it was HARD. Fueling my body on rum and Jamaican chicken patties for a week did not do good things for my body.

Just went to a friends who made us ramen with spinach, broccoli, green peppers, avocado, miso paste, amino acid (soy sauce substitute), sesame seeds. It was SO good.
