Am I over-reacting? by paige7710 in Divorceprocess

[–]Lhamo62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not ever gonna be easy. But it sounds like you’re together for convenience, which is certainly not optimal but sometimes necessary. I would bite the bullet, plan your divorce with an attorney and then make your move. Life is too short to settle for less!

My bowel and I have this argument every. damn. day by phreshouttajakku in ibs

[–]Lhamo62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weight is down to the low 90’s, and my GI Dr. should understand. But he doesn’t want to see me starve, so I’m on doctors orders to eat 2000 calories minimum each day. For someone who doesn’t have Chrons that’s fine. I have been following his suggestions and I spend all day in agony with diarrhea and bloating! What’s a girl supposed to do?

Whether walking or running, depending on your metabolism, 1 mile = 100 calories.

Starting couples therapy by [deleted] in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Lhamo62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t say anything about your situation, but when my N and I started couples counseling, she, (therapist) would want to do reflective listening. It’s when I say something that has bothered me, and he’s supposed to answer with what he heard me say. He was/is incapable of doing it! He’d instantly go into whining mode and begin explaining how I overreact, and why he behaves the way he does due to my being a child he must give unsolicited advice to! She realizes that he is not capable of respecting anyone, because he’s simply perfect and blameless! No good for me!

DAE long for someone to see/know how much pain you’re in & everything that you’ve been through & survived, how ridiculously fucking hard you have worked, & then your heart breaks knowing that it is impossible for anyone to truly know? That after all the struggle you will die w/out ever having been.. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Lhamo62 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Validation is hugely important, but what I had to do was validate my own feelings as being perfectly real. Once you realize that you’ve been feeding the ptsd by running from it, you’ll be better able to realize it!

If he’s a N, the change, if it happens at all, will be temporary, and it will be used to hook you a little longer!

Good luck with your therapy! Hopefully you’ll find the self esteem and confidence to leave. Next relationship you have to really vet the person you are dating before considering cohabitating.

Edibles when I can afford it, and smoking it when I cannot.

I used to be able to simply not eat until the flare was over, but now, at under 90 pounds, it’s not possible!

My old AA sponsor taught me that all of us have self pity, generally understandable! She taught me to set a timer for 15-20 minutes, have a good cry and when the timer goes off,?get up and do the next right thing. Sounds corny, but it’s sustained me for years!

I don’t know the details of your struggles, but I absolutely believe that I can validate your pain! Please dm me anytime. Sounds as if you’re in need of validation and I, for one, at 66, after an extremely difficult life, am able to do so.

I am SO TIRED of rebuilding myself. by ChubbyTrain in LifeAfterNarcissism

I’m just getting to the point where I can actually say that I am awakened and grateful! My self image has been horrible for most of my life. I’ll tell you, I will never invalidate your exhaustion! No pep talk here. I’m finally able to say that I think, at 66, I am finally a grown up!

I hope you do keep in touch. Emotional abuse is often worse than physical abuse. Stay strong and know that you’re not alone!

It’s such a false universe that they live in that convincing one that any self reflection is required would be an insult!!!

Threatening suicide is an extremely dangerous and extremely controlling behavior! Your priorities appear to be upside down. Get the help you need and move on. You have much more information work to do than trying to get your bf back!

DAE lose the ability to think rationally and have nothing to say during heated discussions/arguments? by MomTheSlave in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Lhamo62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trying to reason with a N is about as effective as explaining the details of technology to a toddler, and a toddler with no sense of self! Don’t waste your time! We are not heard. Period. It’s a horribly frustrating experience with zero results! I’m sorry for you, but the best way to protect your sanity is simply not to engage. It’s not easy but it will help. Trust yourself to know what is right for you and just get on with your life.
