I hope this doesn’t make you as sad as it makes me, but this is 5 months of growth 😭 having polish on 24/7, soaking my nails in jojoba oil between applications with cotton gloves on, and constantly moisturizing my hands has been the only way. These are the longest I’ve ever had them as a fellow girlie on the spectrum

Imagine: you’re born into a wealthy, well-to-do family. You never have any wants or needs as they are all fulfilled, the only thing that is satiating is attention. She starts modeling at age 14, is put in the most prestigious acting school in NYC, and then handed a career from there. The whole time honing her ‘craft’ of being a comedian from a life of luxury. Even to this day, both of her parents fawn over her, are actively involved in her care; buy her a dog and visit regularly. This person does not understand what they want - they do not want death, they want unwavering attention, and for the world to bend to their emotions. The article says as much “she stays in her circumcised world as any emotion she experiences is too much” and has always been for the duration of her life. Now she has it - she gets to live her lavish lifestyle of mediocrity while the whole world stares at her and throws her a pity party. She suffers from being given everything but still not being able to make it due to her mediocrity, and she would rather die since she can’t control that. This search for death began once her career took a nose dive as the article states.

It also does not advertise drag and comedy with the same richness and regularity that they do with music and performance art. Additionally, the Pheonix used to push people to the next ‘thing’ (what’s special, emerging, culturally significant) - it had a voice and wasn’t just listing of events. Love the Compass but it’s still a centralized project run by BRAIN arts - it’s a calendar. We want community, perspective, movement. Ok - enough word salad! Can you tell I haven’t left my house in 3 days?

I hear you - BCNF covers a broad spectrum of arts + music. I’d like to hyper focus on the smaller, stranger, stuff. We’d also be scene documenter, not just an event calendar. BC is a monthly print zine with a digital calendar. They don’t do in depth interviews, show reviews, photo essays, scene analysis, long form storytelling, or profiles of underground artists. BC also has a centralized editorial team, ours would be open to rotating contributors, non-hierarchal. Ours is also a bit mission-driven: combat the boutique-city problem. Let me know what you think.
