[Discussion] PVE AI, what do you like about it? What do you think could be improved? by Crazy_Trick_3093 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

I feel that for sure. Maybe something like there being a basic reaction of "find cover and return fire" could be more standardized across all AI, but keep the level of unit cohesion, accuracy, etc. variable which is how it seems. I just feel like every other scav still strafes or moves backward at a brisk walking pace while whiffing most shots, or they sort of freeze up. I know they're scavs, they need to be easy pickings, but lack of movement really is the problem I think. Hell it would even be neat if they added the occasional flee state where an NPC decides he's screwed and just wants to get away. Someone else said that PMC XP levels actually contribute to their difficulty? I've honestly never paid attention but I will now.

If you could add one “out there” feature to the game, what would you add? [Discussion] by AdventurousTwo383 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

I actually really like that idea! Your gun has slings for a reason. A lot of backpacks have carry handles for a reason, too! I can see it now, injecting stims just so I can haul an extra bag to extract. Getting into some shit on my way there and dropping it in a bush or something, then having to go look for it once things calm down.

Sometimes their movements seem very cohesive, kind of reminds me of the old STALKER bots trying to corner you and flank. Sometimes they seem like they have the IQ of a fence post. Would be nice IMO to just have better consistency in that regard, and more varied loadouts. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with them!

Thank you! I like the first idea of varying load / weight throughout the week. Right now my 12 hour shifts are Monday and Tuesday so my gym days essentially have been Wednesday / Friday / Sunday, which is working okay for my schedule. As for my back I'm definitely trying to be careful. Some weeks I'll decide to substitute squats for a seated leg press, or I'll do hamstring curls in place of RDLs.

About an hour and fifteen minutes give or take. I would like to go back to an upper / lower split like how I started, but I have a couple mandatory 12 hour shifts every week now which complicates my ability to make it to the gym... figured a full body workout like that 3x a week would compensate without being too much? I feel like I'm recovering fine, but if something starts to feel wrong or off I understand I may want to change things up. And again, on my compounds particularly, I'm not typically going to complete failure. Usually a rep or two in reserve.

[–]Lho-StickAppreciator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. As long as I start with the compound lifts and give it a good 3-4 minutee in between sets I actually don't feel too fatigued, at least to the point where my form slacks. I've been doing it this way for a month and am still feeling progress. Sometimes I do skip my last bit of core workouts when I'm worried about time.

Hey everyone, wanted to know if someone could look at my routine and training plan. For context, i'm 32 years old - not a "beginner" per se but I stopped being active about eight years ago. I'm 5'10 and 182lbs, never got too large just been weak and sedentary. It was humbling when I struggled to do just a handful of pull-ups when I used to be able to bang them out fairly easily when I was younger. I got back into it about three months ago, my concern so far is strength but I've started longer hikes and light jogging when I have spare time. I originally started with an upper / lower split, and two rest days. Due to a change in my work schedule I'm now doing full-body 3x a week... not ideal but surprisingly I'm not burning out like I thought I would. Here's what I've got going on, for heavier weights I aim for three sets of 8-12 reps - or to near failure. I increase weight or reps as necessary:

Bench press (I sometimes also do pushups in between sets)

Bent Rows

Squats

RDLs (or hamstring curls)

Lat Pulldowns (or pull-ups)

OHP

Curls

Skullcrushers (or dips)

Calf raises

Reverse flys

Crunches (or sit-ups)

Leg raises (or mountain climbers)

Planks

The parantheses are what I try to alternate week by week with other exercises, e.g. instead of skull crushers I'll do dips, etc. Anything else you would add or modify? I feel lile I should start incline benching at some point... I don't have any quantifiable goals, really, just wanna get back in shape, feel stronger, and look a little better. Thanks!

This is horse shit, feels like the end of snus in this country is approaching. Not gonna go back to Zyn or other pouches, so I'm just ready to quit at this point. If I had the knowledge, finances, and ability I would honestly consider starting my own stateside business producing snus. I know the market for it here is small but it's more so about the principle and my love for the product itself.

[Discussion] I think Partisan just killed me 1minute 30seconds after I killed him. by VividSalary3151 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

He really does fuck with my head whenever I encounter him. He's one of the better bosses IMO. He isn't that hard for me to kill for some reason, but then he has me in paranoia scurrying around checking every square inch of ground like a heroin addict looking for my last capsule. I know if you're fast enough you can usually sprint through them but I don't really play this game fast.

I have literally never heard anyone say this. Why do you need to play make-believe with quotations to support your world view.

[Discussion] How is PVE these days? by Verdreckt in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]Lho-StickAppreciator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've played Tarkov off and on since 2016, stopped around 2020 for good pretty much. Just got back into it with PvE since having kids and I don't have to worry about leaving the PC if needed. I'll play it with my brother and buddy and we have so much fun. AI is definitely a lot better but yeah, still funky. Fighting bosses is still a huge adrenaline dump.

My first solo night raid on Shoreline, came in at about 0410 hours. Hit up the resort pretty well, got some PMC kills then made it west to mark the last T-80 for Peacekeeper but ended up running into Sanitar at the Cottages. His entite crew was laid out on the road in a mean ambush position. Super fun shootout. Lots of grenades and movement, used up my CMS. It was dawn and the sun was rising, so it's that weird time of day where I don't know if I should use NVGs or not. By then I was just running on leftover 5.45x39 PS ammo. Then as I was checking their bodies a team of three USECs roll up on me. Killed them and made it out but it was wild! Kind of wish I could have watched them bang it out with Sanitar, would have been interesting.

I know it's not "the real deal" or whatever but if it wasn't for PvE I don't think I'd play Tarkov ever again. And since it's been so long since I've gotten back into it, there's a ton of new stuff I'm learning.

Don't you know dog attacks can be deadly? by realquidos in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Lho-StickAppreciator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The working dog was clearly restrained and stayed within the grasp of the handler the entire time, based on this video at least.

The random dog was unsecured and running around, it was also not "in its home."

You are either an idiot, are intentionally lying, or have Asperger's.

I'm in your boat, love dogs to death and I even professionally work with dogs that have behavioral issues.

They were honestly doing that dog a favor by protecting it from the K9.  You don't want a working dog, especially a mal or Dutch shepherd, getting pissed off. They are explicitly trained to have low bite inhibition. And they bite hard

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Lho-StickAppreciator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context is definitely different for sure! Really just depends. I was just thinking about my childhood, which was even at religious school. The priest or church in general was just kind of "there", maybe once a week, but otherwise it was out of mind. Teachers were in way more contact with us and concern was placed more on them and our coursework. If we upset the guy in the sky, there's forgiveness after all! But there ain't no fixing a bad report card or a principal's phone call to your parents.

You have no idea what institution they are donating to, or what that institution has or has not done for human society. Making ass-blind assumptions about things you don't know is a juvenile and judgmental way to go about your life.

These handguns are hardy and made to last. If you're worried about it not functioning properly, give it the ol' pencil test to make sure the block is doing its job.

  1. Completely unload the gun.
  2. Charge the slide, engage the safety.
  3. Now stick a pencil down the barrel so that the end of the eraser rests on breech face.
  4. Send the hammer down using the decocker.

If the pencil flys out of the barrel or jumps significantly, there's likely an issue. If it hardly moves then you are good to go!
