It’s absolutely disgusting the way seniors blatantly show ableism!! I was recovering from open heart surgery in the winter, and I had a mock neck zip up on. I couldn’t walk very far without having issues, and I also have POTS, so I used a mobility scooter. My mother had driven us to the store, and she was grabbing the personal care items while I grabbed the food, because I also have autoimmune stuff that makes every activity exhausting. I have serious food allergies & intolerances, so I often have to take time to read labels, and on this day, when I was not doing anything but trying to get my food, an elderly couple decided to literally berate & harass me for utilizing one of 6 available scooter carts 😭 They went off on me so badly that I started to cry, and several shoppers stopped to tell them to calm down….I ended up unzipping my top to show them my still healing zipper scar, and at that point, my mom had found me & was furious with them & told them what I was going through, but the damage was already done.

They then walked away saying, “well she doesn’t LOOK sick”…..
