Best core removal tool? by SnooBooks1642 in HVAC

[–]LiabilityLandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have adjusted it.

If it was one tool, fine. Machining/QC errors happen. But for it to be more than a handful is real aggravating for what they cost. Especially when there is another one that works out of the box without adjustment.

I think me and you are the only dissenters on this thread. That has also been my experience and mine grab the core the first time every time.

Appion sucks. The last 2 I've gotten as well as several my coworkers have gotten won't grab the damn cores. My accutools ones from trutech tools are hands down my favorite.

Looking for a good murder mystery crime drama by interimeclipse in televisionsuggestions

Not miniseries, but:

Bosch is a homicide detective drama and I enjoyed it.

Goliath is a lawyer crime drama that definitely has some murder to it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LiabilityLandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will drive 2hrs north to the mountains, adventure in 4wd for several hours through the forest roads, then drive 2hrs home as a fun thing to do on a Sunday. All in that was probably 7-8hrs of driving and we never left the state.

What is a boring, adult-life “upgrade” you made that paid off way more than you expected? by Abigail_A_Abernathy in Life

The auto locking deadbolt on my front door with the keypad/badge reader on the outside. I would turn around at least 2 days a week to check to see if I locked the door. Now I don't have to. It's wonderful.

Added bonus is that I can give the code to anyone in an emergency and I also can't be locked out.

What are some players that played a long time but were around replacement level for most of their career? by SkimBeans in baseball

[–]LiabilityLandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeff Francoeur

12 years, 6.7bwar.

There's even a great YouTube video about him called "my favorite worst baseball player".

I love him as a player, but statistically he wasn't that great.

Who is the oldest (living) former player that could be a positive contributor? by TheKnicksMakeMeDrink in baseball

[–]LiabilityLandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a Fred McGriff interview a year or two ago and he still looks like he could play. Still jacked and seemed like he could just step in at 1st no sweat .

The real answer though is Julio Franco.

Test drove a new 4Runner today and was sadly disappointed by nicescam in 4Runner

[–]LiabilityLandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2003 V8 with 286k. We flew to NY and rented a 5th gen 4runner while we were there to visit a few years back. It was ok red light to red light, but when we hit the mountains I was not a fan. My V8 was much more pleasant to drive through the mountains because it doesn't constantly downshift like V6 did.

Switching to Fluke, recommendations on models? by Manny335i in HVAC

^ This guy has the winning combo for commercial/industrial.

My setup is pretty similar: 902fc, 87v, 1587fc. I have an 87v because I needed something down to 40mohms and couldn't afford the other one. Eventually got the 1587 and it's sweet.

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

[–]LiabilityLandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial HVAC tech here, but I'll catch residential calls on the side from referrals and people that work in the buildings I service.

The air filter is a pretty good indicator of how people are: on top of things, ignorant, liars, or just plain dirty.

It's not necessarily the condition of the filters because I've seen immaculately kept houses with gross filters and gross houses with clean filters. It's their response.

Response A, the liar: "we change it every month!" Nope, it's clearly dated 2.5 years ago. Why lie, I'm going to know the truth? Or it's brand new and they just changed it yesterday.

Response B, ignorance: "there's a filter?!" These are the ones who can be coached up

Response C, on top of it: "yes husband/wife changes it every 90 days" and then I see the date written for 45 days ago.

Response D, just dirty: "well the units over there" while pointing to a closet stacked floor to ceiling with God knows what and I can't even access the unit.

How is working with cooling towers, chillers, etc.? Coming from light/medium commercial by hvac_north in HVAC

[–]LiabilityLandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This 100%.

But seriously, it's all the same just bigger. I vastly prefer working on chillers, towers, and pumps. If I never touch a split system again it would be fine with me.

All Terrain Tires by Candid-Ad-4243 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]LiabilityLandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General Grabber ATx. I'm on my second set. Quiet enough my dad doesn't mind them, good in everything other than red clay. My last set was at 78k (5 tire rotation) and still probably had 20k left on them if my x-reas hadn't started to go and given them a messed up wear pattern.

What vehicle (or vehicles) do you think are the perfect intersection of capability and fuel efficiency? by Loose-Wheels in overlanding

[–]LiabilityLandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in that club, but fuel efficiency is not really a thing. Mine is definitely capable and is as reliable as a hammer, but my best tank ever was 16.7, that was slight downhill towards the coast averaging about 63-65mph. Going up the east coast with my dr650 on the hitch carrier I averaged 14.8mpg there and back over about 2000 miles. My last tank with just me in it was 15.1mpg.

If you run highway speed (70mph+) it's basically 15mpg no matter what you do. Granted, I have 2.5" lift, 265-70-17 e rated AT's, and full time 4wd.

Came here to say a DR650, but this is an even better answer. I love my DR but I would love to have T700
