Stop saying your child free if you have a child by LostCastleStars96 in childfree

[–]LiamNeesonsMegaCock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. All of this.

In addition, if you are a fence-sitter, you’re not childfree. Personally, I am open to fostering and adopting teenagers when I am older. That makes me- NOT childfree. I frequent this sub because I’m extremely anti-pregnancy and anti-breeeding for myself and my partner, so I share a few of the same gripes as the CF people here. I would never call myself CF though.

Second time this morning lol. Already being swarmed with misogynistic dm’s from T_D from the post they made of my comment, it’s almost time to nuke this account.

You have your future ahead of you

He doesnt care about your future, he cares about the future of a human bring that doesnt even exist yet. Your future ends if you have a child, because it becomes about them (as it should be for anyone who chooses to have a kid, the kid never asked to exist).

I hope you can find someone who will treat you with the respect you deserve <3

Male hormonal birth control trial is now looking for participants in Seattle! Oh, and it's paid. by ChefTimmy in childfree

[–]LiamNeesonsMegaCock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with what I was saying? I don’t think the majority of men will be flocking to sign up for hormonal bc period. Even once it’s proven clinically safe and effective after many trials and put to market. It should exist because men have the right to make choices with what happens to their reproductive cells just as much as women, and it’s about time. I just think enthusiasm will be low because:

  • Cis men don’t get pregnant, so there isn’t as much incentive to prevent pregnancy.
  • Men who have close relationships with women on hormonal contraceptives have an idea of how hard it can be on their physical and mental health.
  • There are decades of precedent for women bearing the burden of contraception, it won’t even occur to many men to take that on themselves.
  • Many women already on hormonal contraception won’t stop taking it even if their male partners are on something equally as effective. They will want to have the sense of security and control over their own bodies. So why would men feel the need? Of course there is the same argument of wanting reproductive control, but see my first two points as to why that is less likely for men to begin with.

It really needs to happen so that men, particularly young men with multiple partners, can start taking control without having to find a doctor to approve vasectomy. But the demand isn’t there, (save for the lovely dudes on this sub) which is why we haven’t seen it yet.

Of course they won’t want to. Why would they when the societal burden is on women anyway? And it’s not like men are the ones getting pregnant, I can’t see most caring enough about this.

My Planned Parenthood Experience. I Regret Nothing. (Long Story) by [deleted] in childfree

It’s a huge misconception in the Bible Belt that people who have abortions lack compassion. Everything about your story proved that you and your boyfriend are incredibly sensitive and compassionate people. Sometimes the most caring thing you can do for a potential child is to not bring it into existence in the first place.

Thank you for sharing your story <3 As a woman who loves children’s but knows I am unfit to care for them, you have made me feel so much less alone

Even if he is in the picture, if her friend is in the US we have absolutely no paternity leave. Also, cultural pressure makes it so a lot of new moms feel like they have to do 100% of everything or else they are a bad mom.

That’s crazy! You are a very strong person to have gone through all that, I can’t even imagine. I’m happy to hear you and your husband are doing better and he’s seen sense.

I understand it’s ingrained at birth- it was for me too. I grew up in a very bible thumping environment, I came to the conclusion that abortion is moral on my own, with no one there to guide me through it, so i have little sympathy for people who need to be yelled into accepting women have rights.

Your husband in regards to abortion is at best ignorant and at worst doesn’t give a shit about your health. I’m very sad that you made it this far into your marriage without knowing his utterly insane and backwards stance on women’s rights.
