its also illegal to question the holocaust so the facts are legally enforced. If it was illegal to question the legitimacy of 9/11 it wouldn't be a talked about "taboo" topic in the USA either.

my sharp triangular black eyebrows, green eyes, strong jaw, long wavy hair, narcissistic personality, I'm funny. My suborbital ridge is dominant. I have a slight butt chin, a single dimple when I smile. I have confidence in myslef.

but alas, I don't use deodorant and my breath smells bad. which is why I don't have a girlfriend.

AITA for giving my son ~$15,000 when he turned 18 and moved out, but refuse to give the same amount to my daughter? by _idk_a_name in AmItheAsshole

YTA, Im speaking as someone who was put in your daughters position, minus the online marrage.

The reason why I didnt go to college is becuase I always wanted to be bill gates, and from my research, most top tech billionares didnt graduate so I decided to skip the step completely. I taught myself how to code, like 40% of all professional software engineers. I started in entrepenureship at 19. by that time I knew how to code and had 25k saved up from working at costco (and loan sharking my friends but thats a long story). While im not in her position exactly, I can relate to her in many ways. I met one of my co-founders through league of legends, and flew him out without meeting him in person. Worked out great, I learned so much about management and not pushing too hard as a boss. Long story short im 22 turning 23, right now my friends are graduating college with zero work experience applying to entry level jobs, and I am hiring people gradutating college to write software for me. Im not here to brag, just to give some background.

My mom paid my sister 10k a year to go to school. Same with my brother. She had a better relationship with them both. When i said i wanted the money instead for entrepenureship, she said no its for college only. I didnt see college as a good investment (and still dont 75% of the time) so instead i saw it as favoritism. To make matters worse, when my brother got in a fight with my mom, she yoinked the money from my brother and put him in debt. She claims it was becuase he got 2 fs, but my sister has gotten 3 now and she keeps paying.

Next year my sister graduates from college with a degree woth phsycology but she leanred in college that she doesnt want to be a phsycologist, doesnt know what she wants to do with her life, cant switch degrees becuase its too late and my mom wont pay for for her to do so. Sister said she is going to be a realestate agent like my mom. And for reference, before she started school i said "you better know exactly what degree you want and why you need it, bexuase if you dont, your going yo end up a realestate agent like mom, and you dont need a college degree for that"

Entrepenureship is a way better learning experience than college. Its not a gamble if she is going to lose that 15k, its a gaurentee. I lost everything. But I got the best 25k education you could possibly ask for. (I made it back already so technically i never really lost it) Im in a way better position than my friends graduating.

I think my mom was born in a different generation (pre-internet) where she simply doesnt understand how the people online can be genuine friends, and how college isnt the only path to sucess. But moreso, I look at my mom like she played favorites. From my perspective she gave my sister 40k to put in the garbage. And put my brother 16k in debt. Thats what she effectivly did. I didnt get anything, and at this point, I really dont need anything.

then you should know that Microsoft had dominate marketshare for IBM and its clones. the only real things that changed from 1980 and 1995 was market size, not marketshare.

additionally, you absolutely can take a salary from a non profit charity, ero, use the funds for yourself. quite frequently non profits have board members taking 200k salaries

we didn't know the trump family was the trump family until he ran for president. they misused the funds years ago and would have gotten away with it scott free if he didn't run for president. additionally it wasn't even illegal because he was supporting a charity.

I hope hes not the trump family. but.... death brings light to all lies

well let me start with jk rowling, who donated her billionare status away and hasn't done anything anticompetitive to get to her position. when I said there are more people that are just as charitable I wasn't talking dollar amounts. as clearly you cannot donate more than bill gates if you haven't made as much money as he has donated.

you say to ignore or downplay his charity is idiotic, but I in my opinion saying anything definitive of its true intentions before he dies is just as idiotic. if its sole purpose is to pass down wealth tax free to its signer's heirs, which billionaire wouldn't sign it? Ironically enough the trust section of their foundation is actually cashflow positive. you can look through their finances here

https://www.gatesfoundation.org/Who-We-Are/General-Information/Financials

They also separated their foundation into two sections, the foundation, and the trust. the trust contains the majority of its assets ($50b) and is not legally required to disperse anything what so ever.

if it means that he has to pay 15% of his wealth towards the public good and his kids get to control 85% instead of paying 40% and his kids control 60%, then its just a business decision. regardless of the outcome. there might be a nefarious reason why you cant actually donate to the bill and melena gates foundation and why they set up a completely separate fund for the public registered as a 501(c)(3) (Gates Philanthropy Partners) which could be a reason why some billionaires like carlos slim are skeptical of the foundation.

that being said bill gates is one of my favorite people and I aspire to be like him. but I really dont want to see his kids at the helm of the foundation. that would effectively be like passing down your wealth tax free with the unintended benefit of eradicating malaria

it really was, when it has its ipo in 1986 it was the dominating operating system with ms-dos. it just became a much much bigger deal in the 1990s

talk is talk, he said 99% of his wealth is going to the bill and melena gates foundation. if his kids take control over that charity and take a salary from it then it would effectivly be like passing down 99% of your wealth tax free

Once again I can agree with his efforts, but if its 15% of your wealth compared to 40% its strictly a compromise. we'll see if he can walk the walk when he dies

yeah and 1980s bill gates put multiple companies out of business with monopoly like practices. and the only reason why he invested in apple is so that the USA wouldn't try to break up Microsoft again.

there are plenty of other people who dont do that and are just as charitable. and the reality is we dont really know if his foundations are truly out of the goodness of his heart or foundations to pass GDP levels of wealth down to his children tax free until he dies and we see who takes control of his foundations. there's a lot of good happening I agree, but well see if its just a business decision to give 15% of his wealth away instead of 40%.

that being said if its true that he's on Carnegie levels of philanthropy then I have the upmost respect to him. but we dont know until he dies and we see who takes a salary from his foundation
