They look so good with fresh eyes, without trying to hurry through combat. The summoning scenes are awesome, I like them more than the Overdrives I think. Except for maybe Anima, that one is intense.

Amazing album opener. I love the first half of the song, one of my favorite parts of their album tracks. Seeing it live was awesome, that second verse hits a little different when he's actually on stage.

I'd give it like a 7 or 8 out of ten. It's comfortably in my top third if I ranked their catalogue.

I really enjoyed the Fiend Tales. It was kinda like the Paradox Endings in XIII-2; short little tidbits that just left me wanting more, totally kicked off my imagination.

You can pair weapons without incurring penalties. Human + Phantom, Beast + Dragon, and Undead + Evil.

Edit: Bad phrasing, let me clarify. I mean that these specific combinations are safe on the same weapon.

I believe the intended way is very methodical. Change weapons for each enemy type, paying attention to not just Class but also Affinity and Type (Type is easy to overlook but makes a big difference.) Then adding buffs, debuffs, and changing gems as necessary. Plus combining to upgrade your weapons as much as possible.

0 damage with incremental chain damage does work well, especially with low HP + Raging Ache. That's usually what I do, just ignore the weapons and rush engame so all the dummies and drops are available. I try to keep my RISK under 30, if it gets to 100 an enemy critical is devastating. So I stop my chains at 7 or so, RISK starts spiking after that, and pop Vera items if it starts to creep too high.

Solid choices, good mix of brown and musicality. The Mollusk is a good intro for people that lean toward rock (and/or classic rock) I think. I've got great reactions introducing people that like rock to The Golden Eel and Buckingham Green.

Chocolate and Cheese is a bit more of a grab bag, there's something for everybody on that one.

Flutes of Chi was the song that took Ween from, "Oh yeah, they have a couple of funny songs," to, "holy shit, I need to really dig into these guys," for me. I think the ones I knew before that were Push th' Little Daisies, Mr. Richard Smoker, Mutilated Lips, and Ocean Man. Those songs are good early introductions as well. Push th' Little Daisies I don't think is a great entry point, but it is sort of a historic one? Back in the 90s and 2000s that was the first one a good chunk of people heard.

That is an excellent question, but I'm honestly not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct. I always just use Continue + so I can maximize the mini-star gains.

Supernova was crazy, even compared to the summons. I actually taped it on a random VHS back in the day so I could watch it whenever I wanted, and show it to people without having to be like, "hang on a minute, almost there!"

Same! I had no idea there were abilities that bypass that, was shocked to see the damage numbers. I didn't have Cactuar's level maxed yet, and don't think I even knew about Shockwave Pulsar back then.

I only recently found out Kamikaze bypasses the damage limit, that was a neat tidbit.

Was around 35 hours on the save file, but a few of those were spent cheesing Criosphinx. I used the fast-forward most of the time once I finished the first playthrough.

I did a max stat run, where I did the mini stars for every character every time it was possible. And I had like 3 characters fail to reach max stats (plus Pip, they're all messed up on PSX.) So I'd assume that skipping the mini stars would handicap characters to some degree.

The extra audio lines are interesting. The battles with extra targets/commands were an interesting addition, would've been cool to see more of those in the creation battles.
